Just received a notice saying Slice will no longer be supported after October 2022.
Is there another mobile alternative?

How about PC wallet?

Where is https[Suspicious link removed] or the more updated 0.18.1?

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Explorer lists SumcoinCore:0.17.4 as all the peers connected to it. Where is the code?

OK. Moving to PoS. Nice. Claimed the STEX wallet can move your coins to the new chain, or something... well, IT WILL NOT SYNC, and there is no way to add peers to this wallet. How are we supposed to move coins?
