I am not a citizen of the united states but if that happen came true it great news for all property land owners it a big help to them for the tax exemption. I don't think the congress pass the for that because one of the government source to get collection funds is to collect taxe from the rich land owners, so good luck for that decision it that news is real.

Property taxes are collected by the county, and pay for various expenses such as hospitals and school districts. These are state expenses.

States that do not have property taxes have income taxes.

Income taxes are far worse.

Except for one piece of info that Karl Lentz and others brought out into the open. Your land is your property, that is, proper to you. If you call it land, real estate, or something else, you aren't calling it your property.

If the government comes after you, take them to court. The government can't get on the stand and say anything.

Take the man to court who is using his governmental authority to take your property from you. He is doing it, not the government.

If anyone can provide proof that he is the owner of the property, let him come forward and prove it. When you provide proof, it's your property... to do with as you please.

If the government man comes forward and states that he has evidence that the government is the owner, let the government come forward, get on the stand and state how you are doing a wrong.

As it turns out, when people are adamant like this, and don't give in to government and the courts who are trying to badger them, that government often backs down and simply places some kind of "lien" against the property.

The answer to a lien against the property is to place it into trust with yourself as the trustee, and never sell it. If you want to sell it, make the buyer-to-be the successor trustee, and then you resign as trustee.

If they physically remove you from your property, you have a suit action against the people man-to-man who removed you, for touching you without your permission. You might lose the property, but you will gain the $millions from them in the suit. If you are adamant, they will back down once they understand what you are doing.

Property tax is the best tax in the world. It's only normal if you own a property that you pay to get the street or roads nearby safe and clean.

Besides, in my experience, countries with high property tax and low income tax are nicer than countries with high income tax and low property tax.

This is not problem only in the US. In Eastern Euroupe we have the same problem, at this point in my city there is possibilty that the tax will go up drastically and we wont be able to pay it. Yes we have large house but we paid for the land, we poured sweat and money thru the years to build the house we live in and now we have to pay tax, this is just stupid and injustice. OKay, it is reasonable to pay some tax as part for street reconstruction and lighting but in some cases the tax is just ridiculously high, not every one who has built their homes can afford to pay the tax.

I don't live in the US so we kinda got off easy for a time since the government here is not even capable of collecting income tax properly. I have never paid rent or property tax coz my grandparents basically cleared the land we are living in when it was still pretty much a forest. Though there were people claiming they were the legitimate owners, no one gave a duck about them, not even the government.

I am worried though. Basically the government has started the process to register the land and "award" it. Cool right? Well, the area is being developed with malls, rails and stuff and there's nothing stopping them suddenly increasing the fees they've started to ask from us and they haven't even given us the title yet. 

Not to mention they've started putting restrictions on who the property can passed on to, etc. Basically, they've demarcated where your future property would be, you built your house using your own money and then they'd tell you it will not be awarded to any of your children coz they've past a certain age and you must name a grandchild or if there is none, it have to be given to someone else.

You own your land. Property tax is extortion of your money-property. This form of extortion is based on the value of your property rather than on, say, your income. Basically it is a subtle threat of losing your land-property if you don't comply with the extortion of your money property.

The only way that they are in the right is if you made an agreement with them. The three basic forms of agreement are direct agreement, agreement during your purchase of your property, or court adjudication agreement.

When it goes to court, file a claim against the man/woman assessor regarding the agreement to pay. In your claim, offer to pay anything that you owe. Require that they show the agreement that you signed that shows that you owe.

It can be worse. Your grandparents had land, gave it to your parents and finally it was inherited by you, but it will be taken by the government because times have changed, taxes went up, wages went down and you know the rest.

Trump can't abolish the property tax. This tax isn't a Federal Tax. It is a State or County or City tax.

If Trump made a law abolishing this tax, the States are free to obey or not. The Tenth Amendment:

It is the same situation across the globe, I think it makes sense not to sell lands absolutely to individuals but the government is the sole owner of the lands and lease them to citizens for a period of time.

Some portions of this are already in place.

1. Certain states allow for homestead exemptions meaning you’ll have lower taxes on your first and primary residence.

2. Exempting people under a certain income level isn’t fair, as poor and the rich use the public services from localities to the same degree. Why make this a progressive system?
