Are there actual projects that work, that can control the supply chain line through blockchain?

I want to implement this into a company but I am not 100% of a project that would actually work this sort of business.

Lets say for example I own a business where an employee might take a piece of equipment from a warehouse. How can blockchain technology be used to verify that the user actually took the item, and can this system track where the item is going?

How could someone take a piece of equipment out of storage, and have that system GPS track it via the blockchain.

I need a system that would verify the user, so that way if an item is stolen I will know who actually took the item out. I was thinking I could have a lockbox with the key to the piece of equipment and a unique RFID code for the employee to open the box, that way I know who has the key.

Did you try googling it? There are plenty of white-paper and scholar articles on the topic. The system you're planning is already implemented in a much more sophisticated manner by a number of logistics and premium trade companies. RFID, GPS, Sensors, and Internet of Things are some of the concepts surrounding the implementation. However, no blockchain specific implementation is commercially developed yet. You can mix blockchain with any of the paradigms mentioned above and deploy as smart contracts for transparency.

How exactly would you suggest RFID be implemented? GPS seems like a more expensive route since most of the good trackers use data and require a monthly fee. What would the best offline way be to implement security and have verifiable transactions with the movement of the items?

I have googled ideas, but am looking for more suggestions. If you have seen something you can always post a link or direct me and I would be glad to do my own research on it. Anything is appreciated.

I am sure a lot of tech startups are trying to implement such methodologies to maintain and track goods through tailor made blockchains. I am not a tech person but I can redirect you to some content which can be helpful for you,

2. Blockchain in Supply Chain: 2 Ethereum-Based Projects That Demonstrate How Blockchain Can Improve Supply Chains

Now some other facts,

Hope these help!

the first question you should have asked was not "how" but instead "why". why would you want to use blockchain technology for this? what would be the benefit of it over using what others have been using for years, a simple database or a sheet on the wall where anybody taking something has to sign it with a pen and their name so that they could be tracked.

as for GPS you mentioned, it has nothing to do with "blockchain" since blockchain is just a database not an AI! for GPS tracking you still have to embed equipment with a GPS tracker and have a computer tracking each chip which still has nothing to do with blockchain...

There is no way unless :
- the tool is registered in a database (blockchain),
- the user is registered also,
- the tool can be taken out only with an action that is also registered in the blocks (like opening the tool box with a specific code)

So why would you need a blockchain when that lock could have logs for who opens it?

How exactly would you suggest RFID be implemented?

Just like the antitheft ones are set up in shops. Unfortunately, in your case, you will probably spend more on this than the tools are worth as you will need to program individually each RFID chip to match an item.

How could someone take a piece of equipment out of storage, and have that system GPS track it via the blockchain.

Overcomplicated when there are thousands of apps that do this.
Also, you will also need a computer to run your blockchain, it ain\t going to be free, also you need an internet connection both for the node and for the toolbox.
