Wondering if anyone is able to drop fan speed on their units. Imagine SSH is the procedure but I'm not shy to say I'm a scrub and have never done this on any of my antminers or avalons as I could either adjust through UI or simply inspect the UI page and display the hidden option. Wife will be killing me tonight with the noise. So I hope I'm able to live through tomorrow with some help and research. Preemptive thanks.

the easy way is to trick fuck the controller.

I will be doing this with my t3t 39t.

It involve replacing fans and some understanding of what to do with the wires.

Give me 1 or 2 days to post back here with a how to do it.

Temps seem pretty cool though all around, a consistent 60C so I'd feel ok dropping 10-20% and monitoring.

There is an updated firmware for this unit but Inno has a warning about a psu upgrade that I'll have to research into. Nice though to have a new unit after over a year with the s9's and 821's.

Hi , the tweak is really simply ...

On the plug 4 wire on the fan (black / red / blue / yellow) ... unplug ONLY the blue wire , and connect this on GND on miner (directely on psu or black wire on fan) and interpose a potentiometer (between black and blue wire) for adjuste speed Wink

This means... manual fan rpm control? Lol. You don't need the potentiomenter if you are fine with 100% Smiley

Interesting that the 3rd wire controls rpm as opposed to the 4th wire in the S9.

I might play around with the wiring. I imagine this is simply a "designer" version of what 4wd is talking about? probably just wire the potentiometer into a 4pin PWN extender and not alter the hardware at all. Thoughts?

Looks like I missed the link previously for this. https://noctua.at/en/products/accessories/fan-control/na-fc1

seems to work well to reduce the fans though the inno fan spec is 3.9A this is rated to 3A. So I'm wondering if there is power loss just connecting this as unit seems a little quieter with the dial turned all the way up. Still loud but I'm able to reduce speed and quiet it some. I attached two on a unit, one for each fan connection and had to " "customize" as one fan has a 6pin connection but us still only 4 wire.

Nope 100% is just about the most worthless fan speed possible for the gear if you are running it at balanced speeds.
(25% would also be bad as it over heats.)

Fan wear out too fast.

Fan uses more power.

Pretty freaking annoyed at what they did.

If I drop the miners power use a few hundred watts by going to balanced I simply don’t need 100% as a fan setting.

And if I do need the fans to run at 100% when on balanced using 300 watts less then factory and 500 watts less then on turbo.  It means the gear will over heat on turbo.

Yea, even dialing it back some will help on longevity of the fan but well though out firmware is nice. I'll see if I can get a draw read with the one I have set up. Nice units but so far runs under just under 30ths at 2300w in factory.

do balance +   I got  good results with my t3 t39  on that setting.

well fan at 100% is just lovely; now I understand why people said they recognise the 'humming sound'.

has anyone tried the new firmware 't2tz_soc_20190807_070310 7th of August 2019 07:03 AM' ?

Does it fix or make it better?

I never updated the firmware for any of these and I am a bit nervous to do it  Undecided but if it helps with the fan or the W's consumption (currently at 2550W on factory settings for 29.4TH) it would be worth it.

Once again to do factory mode your room needs to be cold.

Do balanced or balanced +.  This gear does not meet spec unless the room is 60-70 f

My  t2 t24 is set to 20t has run non-stop since August 2018. It does not do 24t it does not do watts rating.

But it works. Non-stop for 12 months.

My t3 t39 is set to 31t it does not meet watts spec.  But it works.

Since my room is a steady 90f I know it won’t meet spec.

Since it is 65 miles from my house or 130 mile round trip the fact that it works is very valuable to me.

It runs fans at 100%. Which is asshole on their part. It should run no higher then 90% in all cases.

As fan failure is faster on 100% then 90%.

I only am pissed that I can not set my fans to 90% and keep it on 90%.

I will be getting the t3 t50 very soon it is due to ship by August 31s.  I am sure that it will set to 45th and use too much power and run fans at 100%.

I don’t mind the under hash or the extra power as it is very very very reliable set to balanced +

I do mind the 100% fan setting.  As driving 130 miles round trip to set a fan to 90% is a pain in the ass.

I have my gear behind multiple firewalls and do not want team viewer or other access.

These have been typical Inno things
1)under hashes a bit.
2) Burns too much power
3) runs fans at 100%.
4) delivery can be late

They do not break set to balanced + in a warm room.  This is why I still buy some.

My T2T 30Th are hashing around 30Th (29.6-30.5) in factory- to factory+ since I upgraded my psu and firmware but still can’t get over the 100% fan.Anyone managed to ssh into them and slow them down?My room temp is around 20 C (70F) so miners are running at 55-60 degrees with 100% fan-ridiculous.
PS. Even with newest firmware,if running at 30-30.5 Th still uses 2370-2400 W

Update:just did latest measuring at 20 C -one miner is at factory- setting and making 29.74Th @ 2284W
Other miner is at balanced ++ and making 27.61Th @ 2050W which is pretty decent for both miners but stupid fan is still at 100%

Yea, I use the the noctua fan controller to drop the fan speed but they're not rated for the amperage for the fans so be careful.

Hi , the tweak is really simply ...

Hi,

I want to do this tweek on my miner too. Can you post a photo or a diagram for how to connect the potentiometer?

thanks!

Temps here have dropped as fall is in and winter is coming. So besides the noctua control I never set up a standard potentiomenter.

Hi,

I managed to change the fan speed via telnet directly into the miner configuration file.
Does anyone knows if it’s possible to change the fan speed one by one rather than all at the same time?

Thanks!

Might be beneficial to some to share that work flow.

I'd just want some good auto tuning FW, probably just hard since new units come by half a dozen a year now.

I’m using hive OS and in the configurations changed the fan speed. Can you post a photo of your noctua connection so I can do the same on miner?
