Hello,
On this forum I mostly post in the Dutch section as a bounty translator for projects.
When translating an announcement or bounty thread the bounty rules usually require to update that thread with news messages.
This morning I got 19 private messages in my inbox by
Bitcoin Forum.
The messages say that posts by me were deleted because they broke either rule 21 or 32. [See:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0] These rules say:
21. Old bumps should be deleted.
32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.
In fact my posts were not deleted but they were merged together into one post. The thread in which this occurred:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5142459.20 Remarkably some news messages were merged and other stayed untouched.
Could someone elucidate how the forum rules on bumping threads should be interpreted for translators?
Possibilities I see:
1) Translators posting unique news messages in their own posted thread fall under the exception as mentioned under rule 32 and should thus not be removed / merged.
2) Translators are not allowed to bump their translated threads with multiple news messages in a row.
I would opt for interpretation 1. In that case the moderator made a mistake by merging / deleting my messages.
In case of interpretation 2: Should bounty managers then eliminate the requirement to update translated threads with news messages because it is against the forum rules?
Can someone give me clarity on this so I know how to handle this in the future?
Thanks!
