Crypto OG David Chaum says it best at a recent conference in Zurich

"People are either in control of the computers they interact with every day in a democratic manner, or computers are manipulated by a small fraction of the population against the rest of us. Lately, we have increasingly seen the 2nd of these two scenarios take hold, but it doesn’t have to be that way."

Thoughts?

And so?
As my understanding, computers have been made to help our life but at the same time, it has disadvantages and advantages. Basically, a computer is just a tool and no more. This scenario already happened since the computer was created any technology including blockchain and crypto have the same possibilities too.

Is there news about when elixxir mainnet will be released?

Think of it that everyday we need computers because it's already part of our lives. We need to use with our jobs, we need it with our assignments and other daily use with our daily living. Is that sort of marketing from the crypto og?
I don't find relevance of those quoted words. Computers make our lives easier and it's been helpful all of the time to us. There's also harmful effects if not used properly.

We use the computers for our needs (whether good or bad).

Then there are the ones that can which will check what we do = spy on us, whether only inside the browser, whether the browser makers themselves, or the firewall/antivirus makers, the OS makers read, and many-many other programs one may not even expect. Today everybody wants to sell you something and to know everything about you.

Then there's the various programs that may do things we don't know about, some can also turn our computer into a part of a botnet (for mining, for DDoS or whatever) or simply steal whatever data they can.

I think that it's not a way or another. In most cases at least two of these things happen in the same time.

I think it will always be that way with anything that can give people an advantage in business or over other people. It doesn't have to be computers, it happens everywhere. There will always be those who look to exploit a thing in order to gain personal or commercial advantage.

The lives of human have been greatly enhanced due to the development of computers. I think that is why they were invented in the first place. It is only in isolated cases that the abuse of these devices have been recorded but I think the benefit still outweighs the harm use of computers in our daily lives.

So what? We cannot deny that the computer helps our life to become better. We see many processes can be automated with the computer helping and we see that almost all industry has used the computer too to help them to finish the jobs until it comes to the customer's hand. The computer is like a knife in the early of the creation, and it depends on us how we are going to use the computer. We can use it for a good thing or bad things. With the growth of technology, we realize that the computer will take a part of our life and will make our jobs simple.

Yes, it's understandable let's say the use of the latest technology increases your profitability by 10% in the long term, you will get much more profit than your competitors. Yes, I think the Internet business is time to tokenize their assets.

Computers are created to support human beings and it will forever remain that way. They wont do any harm if being used in a right manner. At the end of the day, they are just methods. It's only us who know how to turn these methods into bad intentions.

There is no "so" here. The Elixxir project has been under development for many years and they are constantly trying to explain something. Just like in this post, the end always ends with "so"... So, we are still waiting for Elixxir. Really we are.

I don't think computers are controlling people. It is the developers of thoses softwares and the developers of the compilers for thoses softwares who are collecting people datas and selling them or doing targeted advertising. Computers only do what the creators told them to do currently. But one day maybe computers are going to have more control on the people.

Especially when no one cares that they do that. We all know how, from small apps to big corporations, they collect all kinds of data from users and they sell or hand over those data to third parties and no one cares. From time to time, there is a scandal in the media, and in two days everything is forgotten. I guess people are too naive.

I think that now people can safely control their computers, but when a quantum computer appears, then it will be possible to talk about this topic again  Grin

Sometimes I imagine, if there is no computer and internet network. Maybe we will not be able to access and discuss this forum. The blockchain and cryptocurrency technology will be a great future. I am very proud of those who create technology, I hope there is no manipulation in this matter. Thank you so much.

Even though is humans that put these computers together, but there are some things that human brain will not be able to calculate and interpret or processed that computer can help so, so computer has really been a significant blessing to the life of people. Even though we have few people that control it, but the usage still cut across the entire world.

Imagine a world without these computers, how would you have even communicated this message to the hundreds of people that are in it at the same time. I know we have every few people that are in control which is normal, some people must have the monopoly, everyone is not born to be a ruler, but we can only strive hard to be among those rulers, those people who you said control things also found their way there too and not by magic.

There is quite a bit of truth to the statement by Chaum. Only because something helps you improve your situation does not necessarily mean that that something is interested in your long-term autonomy.

How can I control the computer?I can only delete any image and restore it if necessary. Cool But seriously,in any case, those who are behind the creation of new technologies will always do what they need.Remember when in Windows 7 it was written ,,my computer,, in Windows 10 already write ,,this computer,,1 person can not cope with the whole, huge corporations and companies.Let's see what David Chaum comes up with to break these bonds.

I cannot control the computer either. However, the specialists can do it. However, I cannot say it can control me, although most of the things I deal with now, including crypto trading cannot be imagined without these electronic machines. We depend on them a lot.

Probably, in the future, something will be changed, but now, even the simplest PC is the stuff we need most of all.
