Hi i mined some BTC in 2013/2014 and forgot about it until today. I just did it with my PC and a programm and graphiccard + usb miner.

Today I thought about it after I forgot it completly.

I´ve nothing. No Wallet adress, no idea where to find.

Tried to login here but it says that my account was banned after a password leak of bitcointalk happened in 2015.

I´ve the same PC and harddisk so I looked for that Miningprogramm. Perhaps all is saved in there.

All I found was the programm "Bitcoincore" but I think I need to find another programm.

I dont know what I´m looking for and my Harddisk ist full of stupid old Files and Folders.

Do you have a hint what and where I should look for?

Thanks so far

your wallet.dat

move your wallet.dat in a different folder, then download the https://bitcoin.org/en/wallets/desktop/windows/bitcoincore/ then move the wallet.dat into the the new folder replacing the blank wallet.dat you just created
if you remember your password you should be alright. I think.

Move this thread to tech discussion your more likely to get a response from someone more educated on the subject.  I have no clue what mining program you would of used in 2013 it would help if you told them the name of the program.

Thank you I found the wallet.dat and opened Bitcoincore but it says 0 BTC.

Seeing this I recognize that I tried to transfer the mined btc to that bitcoincorewallet but i failed.

I think I let them in the Miningprogramm or whatever.

All I know is i had a Miningprogramm and it showed me how much BTC were mined so far... thats all

Perhaps i deleted that Programm but some files can be found.

But honestly if I watch my Fileexplorer, there were no files deleted in the last 10 years...

Thank you I found the wallet.dat and opened Bitcoincore but it says 0 BTC.

You see 0 on your balance because this wallet need to sync, there is over 200 GB of data to download because BitcoinCore is full node wallet. I use this wallet only for short time few years ago, so I am not sure is there any quick way to check balance.

It would be much easier if you have at least your public address, then you can simple check balance on blockchain expolorer. But since you say that you try to transfer coins from that miner to BitcoinCore and failed, it is possible that you actually do not have any coins in your wallet.

You can read this article which is 6 year old, and some of the mining software you used is maybe mentioned in it.

no problem, hopefully you get your coins when the wallet syncs up to the time you mined them.

If you don't want to wait for Bitcoin core to completely sync, You can dump your private keys from Core and import it in Electrum or any other wallet you choose to. Guide is here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transferring_coins_from_Bitcoin-Qt_to_Electrum

That’s fine. You need to wait for the entire blockchain to sync before you see your live, up to date wallet balance. Depending on your internet speed & computer it could take up to a week unfortunately.

It's probably locked, not banned. If you can prove access (see Recovering hacked/lost accounts), you can reclaim access.

As for your wallet.dat: if the last transaction was in 2014, you don't need to download the full blockchain for the balance to show up. Make sure to make a backup before doing anything.

You should get pywallet and with that you can dump your keys and see which addresses are used.

You can get it here: https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

It will let you even use a GUI if you connect to the right port.

Thanks so far

1- BACKUP your wallet.dat, the old one. This is the most important thing
2- Install the latest Bitcoin Core from here: https://bitcoin.org/en/download
3- search your NEW wallet.dat. On windows it should be in c:/users/yourname/.bitcoincore/wallets/
4- REPLACE the new wallet.dat with the old one (and not the opposite). Keep the old wallet.dat on an USB or any safe place where you will not delete it by error.
5- run bitcoint-qt.exe

Now you have to wait until the blockchain synchonize until the last transaction you got. Bitcoin while loading the blockchain identifies your transactions and reconstruct your wallet.

Once the Wallet finished to sync you will be able to spend the coins you had! Good luck!
