It's time to give the forum's greatest trolls the true recognition they deserve, and in the right context, as well. For a clear definition, here is the one for Internet troll taken from Wikipedia (unsurprisingly, the topic is locked from editing):

In Internet slang, a troll is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses and normalizing tangential discussion, whether for the troll's amusement or a specific gain.

The troll poll will run from 7/31 to 8/21.

Every qualifying voter can cast up to 2 votes in the official poll. The final voting tallies and winner will be named after voting has closed, at which they will be awarded with the grand prize: a magnificent pile of shame and the recommendation of being put on Ignore by all users!

Yes, this is absolutely right, feeding the trolls would give them more energy to continue trolling, best way is just to ignore them.

I considered this. A true troll never completely goes away, at least not without a fight. They're going to keep on keeping on whether this poll existed or not. Most trolls will claim they are not a troll, so I don't know how validating the title of "biggest troll" is to them.

Besides, as this poll is inclusive of any member that has ever been a part of this forum, its a chance to recognize trolls of the past for their magnificent achievements in trolling. Its not limited to active trolls.

Trolls do go away. There's plenty that have come and gone here over the years. They get bored very quickly especially if nobody takes the bait. If everyone ignored them they're just screaming into the digital void and trolls don't like to waste time. They're powered by attention and annoying people. If nobody gets annoyed or even acknowledges them then that's a mortal wound to them and they'll find something else to do or troll elsewhere.

Well that's what they claim but 95% of the time it isn't true. Sure, there are some idiots who just believe the world is flat or in chemtrails, but most are probably just trolling, though obviously you do get the idiot-troll hybrids.

Yes but those aren't the trolls that people will be nominating for this poll. The best trolls are the ones who know how to suck people back into an argument even after they have tried their hardest to turn their backs on them. This poll isn't going to have a noticeable affect on the level of trolling on the forum. After a month or two it will be over and done with, and before long everyone will have totally forgotten about it.

There are aspects of the trust system that are clearly less than ideal, some of which are probably solvable (and some probably not). But caucusing with people who have very clear and serious questionable behavior isn't going to help you convince people of anything. Anduck had a good case for the trust system being broken. You (cryptohunter) might've had some case for the trust system being broken if you had handled your initial trust issues with rationality and patience instead of absolutely losing your mind and throwing lies around, and even now I could imagine your red trust eventually being cleared if you were able to attain a stable mindset. olcaytu2005 on the other hand hasn't even attempted to defend himself against the accusations (from several independent widely-trusted members, based on publicly-available data) of knowingly assisting scams, so he does not have a good case for the trust system being broken.
