I tried installing Bluewallet on a completely different Android device, with a different Android version, and that one gets stuck on a white screen too! I don't even get to the part where it asks to create a wallet.
I have no experience installing older versions, and I try not to install anything outside the Play Store.
After contacting a dev on Telegram, it turns out it's a known bug. They hadn't been able to reproduce it yet, but after I mentioned my Android version they did. So I expect and hope it to be fixed in the next release.
Because of this:

I would keep away from bluewallet for a bit.
If the OP really did nothing "wrong" but bluewallet did then it's a big flag for me.
I saw the topic, and can't help but think it's just plain dumb to put close to 6
BTC in a phone wallet. I haven't looked for their conditions, but usually software has a standard disclaimer saying it's delivered "as is" with "without warranty". I don't think this is much different in other wallets if something goes wrong.
I'm only using BlueWallet for small amounts anyway, and wouldn't recommend to use any hot wallet for storing large amounts.
