TigerStripe
A Digital Currency Built For the Future of RIT

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download: https://github.com/TigerStripeRIT/TigerStripe/releases

Source-Code: https://github.com/TigerStripeRIT/TigerStripe

Blockchain Explorer: http://159.89.129.63:3001/

What is TigerStripe?
TigerStripe is RIT’s first decentralized, anonymous, peer-to-peer crypto-currency (just like Bitcoin). The digital currency units are known as STRIPES, and the network remains safe and secure through encryption and blockchain technology. Using a wallet created by our team or any other developer linked to the TigerStripe network, users can send, receive, hold, and even mine this digital currency fast and efficiently. Unlike traditional stores of value like dollars or gold, Stripes have no transaction fees, transact almost instantly, and can be traded anywhere in the world anonymously. We envision a future at RIT where all shopping, dining, personal transactions, rent, and even tuition is settled using Stripes!

Where can I get started?
You can download the official wallet using the link below, but any wallet developed around the TigerStripe network will work! Just unpack the files onto your desktop and run TigerStripe.exe or your OS equivalent. Your wallet will begin syncing with the network and you’ll gain access to send/receive features, a public key, and a console to begin mining Stripes!  https://github.com/TigerStripeRIT/TigerStripe/releases

How do I get Stripes?
There are a multitude of ways to obtain Stripes. The easiest way is to mine for them (see next question), which will generate fresh Stripes into the economy and simultaneously support the growing network. You can also ask a friend to send you some! Just navigate to the “Receive” tab to locate your public key, which will act as the custom address linked to your wallet. Your friend will need this key to send you any Stripes. Alternatively, you can use our faucet link to get a small amount of stripes every day from a pool of community donations: LINK COMING SOON

What is “Mining” and how do I start?
Mining (Proof-of-work) is a system in which individuals devote a portion of their CPU or GPU power to verify transactions on the TigerStripe blockchain. In Exchange, you’ll be rewarded with some Stripes, which may become very valuable someday (see https://coinmarketcap.com/). Currently, miners receive 50 Stripes every few minutes and the process can be done on any old laptop, computer, or hardware device. This mining reward will halve every four years and the difficulty to mine will increase exponentially, driving the value of Stripes up over time while introducing new units into the economy.

To get started mining your first Stripes, open your TigerStripe.exe wallet, navigate to the “Help” bar, and click on the “Debug window” tab. From there, click the “Console” tab and type “setgenerate true” into the console. Your mined stripes will appear soon and will require 120 confirmations before you can use them. In order to stop mining, type “setgenerate false” into the console! Keep in mind, mining Stripes will use your CPU and may become hardware-intensive in the future.

By mining stripes, not only do you generate currency for yourself, but you also help in securing the network for everyone. In other words, the more Stripes you mine, the safer they become for everyone. You can see a full list of all the blocks that have ever been mined on the TigerStripe network here: http://159.89.129.63:3001/

Are these Stripes worth real money?
Yes and no. Currently, TigerStripe is in its infant stage, so Stripes are very easy to mine and not many retailers accept them as a form of payment. Similar to other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Litecoin, TigerStripe is a deflationary asset, meaning it’s value will actually rise exponentially over time. 10 years ago, anybody could mine thousands of practically worthless Bitcoins a day, but overtime these coins have grown to almost $13,000 per bitcoin. TigerStripe will undergo a similar process, and will eventually be tradeable for USD, so we recommend mining Stripes earlier than later! The best way to grow the value of each Stripe is to actively support, use, and share the network.

How do I send or receive Stripes?
Using TigerStripe is super easy! Just download a valid TigerStripe wallet, navigate to the “send” or “receive” tab, and use a valid public key in order to communicate with another wallets. Your public key, found in the “receive” tab, is a specialized address pointing to your own wallet. In order to send Stripes to a friend, you will need their public key (which you can add to your address book for ease of access). While these public keys allow users to transact anonymously, you’re welcome to post your own publicly online as there is no threat in doing so to your wallet or funds.

What if I lose my wallet?!
Luckily you can backup your wallet information (also known as a private key) by navigating to the “File” tab. Simply download your wallet backup and store it either on your computer or an external hard-disk/USB. If your wallet is ever lost, destroyed, or forgotten, you can simply restore a new wallet from your backup!

Who created this digital currency and why?
TigerStripe is NOT affiliated with or funded by RIT in any way! We are simply an anonymous group of programmers at RIT looking to provide innovation on campus (for free). As a decentralized currency, TigerStripe is actually owned by everybody (and nobody at the same time). Nobody has any control over the network and all source-code development is handled in an open-source environment. Any person or group who claims to have created or inspired TigerStripe can only be verified through a PGP signature found in the genesis block. Do not expect the creator(s) to step forward anytime in the near or distant future.

How can I support TigerStripe?
The best way to support TigerStripe is simply to use it! Share the currency with all of your friends and family as well! All of the source code is free and open to use or modify to your liking (and like we said before, is owned by everyone collectively). If you’d like to make the TigerStripe network stronger, more decentralized, and much more secure, consider opening a full node by either running a VPS or port-forwarding the port “2332” and “2333” in your router and leaving your TigerStripe.exe wallet running at-least 6 hours a day! This will turn your wallet into a node for the network, processing transactions and securing the network for everyone.

► 2.5 minute block targets

► subsidy halves in 840k blocks (~4 years)

► ~84 million total coins

► 50 coins per block

► 2016 blocks to retarget difficulty
