America seems to be falling apart as a result of the lack of spending to preserve the infrastructure and the economy. So what do the taxpayers get for sacrificing their dollars and their children?

I don’t think there’s any universally accepted answer for this as some Americans will say they’re protecting themselves by killing terrorists in their home before they can attack America, while some will call it a waste of taxpayers money. The truth is US taxpayers understand that having military bases means US can influence decision making in those countries, and they believe that those decisions will help them earn more revenues in the long run from those countries.

The military-industrial complex.

Military manufacturers made a fuckton of cash in WW1, and they've been buying politicians ever since.

To be fair, some of its required, but we can replace a lot of people with drones. I'd rather redeploy the military to build windmills and solar farms here in America to ensure energy security and to help offset our dependence on foreign oil. No point in sending guns over there if there's nothing of value for the US to protect.

Then again, there's a lot of authoritarian regimes who slaughter their citizens wholesale. Someone needs to enforce criminal verdicts when a country is declared to be committing crimes against humanity; it sure isn't going to be the serfs under these regimes.

People forget that these relationships are able to be used for the US to get economic deals around the world and to protect their business interests around the world. The US is able to leverage their military defense of other countries to get good deals with the rest of the world.

Also -- The US uses these bases to protect other bases around the world, for example: The US uses their bases in Germany to route injured Americans from the middle east back to the US. It's an easier and safer way to handle things.

Some other ones that I've found in  my research

Deterrent - Rogue states know that their are military bases close to them, so they're able to be kept in check (think of Iran, NK)

International Relations - The US dumps a lot of money into their military bases, and a large amount of money is spent hiring the locals around the bases. This means that a local government may have tons of their civilians working for the US military/ government. This without a doubt helps in international relations

Exactly, they get deals. Their military in Iraq was used to secure the forming of a new puppet state,making sure the oil flows and the US workers who came to rebuild the country weren't getting slaughtered too much. Their base in Poland is supposed to negotiate trade deals for their old junk, like F16 fighters. There was supposed to be an anti-missile station located there under Bush administration, but there came Obama and he didn't want to tease Putin so no missile shield.

This is only a fraction of the point. The real point is, what do people get for their taxes in general?

Many people will say things like hospitals and roads and public libraries, etc. But how does anyone know? Nobody is given a receipt for his tax money, showing what he received.

I mean, you go to a store, and you purchase some products. You give them some money (taxation), and you get an itemized receipt of your purchases... which purchases you can see right in your hand, or in your shopping cart.

With taxation, you are forced to help pay for things that you don't know about, and things that you don't want.

Take the inequity and criminality out of taxation. Make them give yo a receipt for what you get, and make them stop forcing you to buy the things you don't want.



EDIT: Trump might be a good President in many ways. But his goodness is simply a cover-up (like with all the other presidents) for the fact that we are being robbed through taxation without the representation of at least a receipt that shows us what we purchased.

Washington forced the creation of a new monetary system to bring down the petro-dollar for example. The military Industrial complex certainly makes loads of money, but that goes to the Eton/Oxford elite puppet masters and the bankers, and not to the American people. The US has lost every war that Washington has dragged them into, and this has led to a lack of respect for their military. I don't see how that makes US citizens safer. We seem to be getting closer to a war being taken to the American mainland, and that is a result of Washington's support for terrorist countries,and their sanctions against resource rich countries.

The US hasn't lost every single war that Washington had 'dragged' the American people into. And the US military is respected inside of the US -- outside of the US, that's something you'd be able to debate based on where.

The US is the safest its been in a long time, as we haven't seen any large scale terrorist attacks on American soil since 9/11.
