Price will probably spike in short therm and after that there would be steady drops on weekly period.
Lots of coins that went to POS didn't end well. POW vs POS is only one factor that may drive price one way or another, there are many more factors that are more important then that.

I expect a huge adoption rate for ETH after the upgrade too, during the constaninople upgrade ETH saw quite a increase in price and retained it's spot as the 2nd in coinmarketcap chart after being outsted by XRP. Switching to POs might bring something better.

To be honest, from past events; i do not think etherum is ready for any form of upgrades.

I don't think we should focus on the reward aspect of POS, instead we should focus on the technical aspect of this implementaton.It's true that most of stake rewards will go to whales and that's normal, however when it comes adoption I think that POS improves scalability drastically like fast transactions,lower fees etc... Therefore,IMOHO, yes here will more adoption.

People are starting to be bored and tired waiting for the implementation of PoS of Ethereum. But having an example and that it's already implemented, everyone will rush to get their own ETH stash and stake it.

It's going to be a passive income and knowing that it's ethereum, there will be definitely a lot of people that will pump this coin. I don't know on how long we're going to wait but I'm starting to get tired too but I hope that I still have my ETH stash by that time.

POS will create another massive buy to the ethereum consider about the holders can earn the emission from the blockchain in the future. The price must be doubled from the ethereum price right now.
The rate of ethereum will be much better soon after ethereum POS upgrade.

Bartolo is right the whales will be the winner here.
Adoption? ETH have been so long in the crypto industry and trust have been planted to many users. I dont think just because there will be a staking that will happen it would grow that fast. NO! Investors are staying because they have faith with ETH and not because of mere staking.

I am also sure about that, there will be a lot of mass adoption for ETH if you move to POS, because everyone can get free ETH without the need to mine it,

ETH is working for it. They are planning to implement the POS and put a limit on the total supply by 2020.
But this POS could be much different from other POS coins. As of adoption, it could be a new chain and probably with a huge scalability and performance which would surely increase the present market of Ethereum. Limiting the supply would be essential for price increment.

i don't think we can call that "adoption", the only thing that can happen is a new group of speculators that would want to earn some free money which they could dump and make profit. in short term the price can get pumped due to this surge but as we move forwards the sheer amount of "free money" they get and the unlimited supply will start to show its pressure on the market and start reducing the price again.
as a result of that large and prolonged dumping the same speculators sell and get out while taking a lot of other investors out too as they also lose a lot of money. so the price will see bigger crashes.

As far as I know it is a fact that they are going to reduce miner rewards by 50 percent and are going more towards POS scheme. Moreover, they will reduce transactions costs and make ETH faster, so it would be a massive upgrade.

adoption can only occur based on the utilities that something offers and the usefulness, and ease of use of those utilities. when a coin switches its mining algorithm from PoW to PoS nothing changes in the utilities it offers or the large number of issues that it is facing, some of which are unsolvable like its scalability issue.
so my answer is no, there won't be any change in adoption rate of ETH.

ETH 2.0 might come but adoption I guess is not that huge as few changes only been implemented. There will only few that will benefit in the long run and that's for sure those who have bags of ETH > whales.

Yes, you are very right, it is highly expected that when pos will be activated vast number of big investors as well as institutional money will invest in eth just to receive the passive reward this will increase demand for eth which will result in massive price increase as well.
