Update:I made the thread initially when I was on my way to the Hero member rank but now I am on the way to the Legendary rank. Update with my stats for daily merits.
My stats: - Today days on which I earned merits: 229
- Median (interquartile range): 2 (1 - 5)
- Min - max: 1 - 69
variable | N mean sd p50 p25 p75 min max -------------+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- amount | 229.0 4.2 6.0 2.0 1.0 5.0 1.0 69.0 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I appreciated all of your kindly words, your hands, your stories, your guides/ posts. All of you, help me to learn and move farther by now. Since 30 July 2019, I made my name here, as a self-made Hero Member. It means that the merit system takes me 3.5 months to move from Senior Member to Hero Member. Especially, I am thankful to these three following users: (1) @actmyname: who gave me 14 merits in his merit contests, that motivated me and gave me a strong belief that merit system is a fair one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3046992.msg31398113#msg31398113(2) @LoyceV: who gave me merit data dumps every week (he dumped the first dataset when I repeatedly asked for help, over weeks). He somehow help me to build up my career here with data analyses. Time Series Analysis on Distributed Merits in the forum (daily, weekly, monthly)I'll continue posting updates in this topic:
(3) @TMAN: who gave me his generous hands.
I registered the account on November 08, 2017, and when merit system began with new rank requirements, I was a Junior Member. Some of you are right that I should make this thread when I already rank up to Hero Member. I thought of it previously, but I think that why do I have to share my journey, two or three months later? Because the earlier I share it, the earlier others whom still stucked with their dissapointment, might be motivated from my thread. Then, they can save their two or three months of dissapointments and do nothing. Instead, they will use those months to improve themselves. I do think it is better for them.
With challenges from merit system and new rank requirements, they all took me more than one year to reach the Full Member rank, on December 13, 2018; a little more than one year since my register day. My second achievement is the Senior member rank, that I achieved on March 15, 2019. It means I spent around only three months to move from Full member rank to Senior Member rank. You should know that at the begin of 2019, I only wish that I will rank up to Senior Member at the end of 2019. My plan in the year 2019: - Getting promoted to a Senior member.
Congratulations myself to become a new self-made Senior Member. Now, around 4 months later, I am on my road to the next rank, Hero Member. I strongly believe that I will hit it within the next two months. It means that I will spend around 6 months to move from Senior Member rank to Hero Member rank. It is a brief introduction on my journey in the forum, over my last one year and more than a half. Now, let's compare my journey to the time-required to hit each rank with the old rank requirements (before merit system started in January 2018). Basically here is all you need : It's between 2-3 years for Legendry as the following list shows 1 X 14 = 14 2 X 14 = 28 3 X 14 = 42 -- Jr. Member ( 1.5 month) 4 X 14 = 56 5 X 14 = 70 -- Member (2.5 month) 6 X 14 = 84 7 X 14 = 98 8 X 14 = 112 9 X 14 = 126 -- Full Member (4.5 month) 10 X 14 = 140 11 X 14 = 154 12 X 14 = 168 13 X 14 = 182 14 X 14 = 196 15 X 14 = 210 16 X 14 = 224 17 X 14 = 238 18 X 14 = 252 -- Senior Member (8.5 month) 19 X 14 = 266 20 X 14 = 280 21 X 14 = 294 22 X 14 = 308 23 X 14 = 322 24 X 14 = 336 25 X 14 = 350 26 X 14 = 364 27 X 14 = 378 28 X 14 = 392 29 X 14 = 406 30 X 14 = 420 31 X 14 = 434 32 X 14 = 448 33 X 14 = 462 34 X 14 = 476 35 X 14 = 490 -- Hero Member (1.3 years) 36 X 14 = 504 37 X 14 = 518 38 X 14 = 532 39 X 14 = 536 40 X 14 = 550 41 X 14 = 564 42 X 14 = 578 43 X 14 = 592 44 X 14 = 606 45 X 14 = 620 46 X 14 = 634 47 X 14 = 648 48 X 14 = 662 49 X 14 = 676 50 X 14 = 690 51 X 14 = 704 52 X 14 = 718 53 X 14 = 732 54 X 14 = 746 55 X 14 = 760 56 X 14 = 784 -- Legendary lucky rank starts (2 years) 57 X 14 = 798 58 X 14 = 812 59 X 14 = 826 60 X 14 = 840 61 X 14 = 854 62 X 14 = 868 63 X 14 = 882 64 X 14 = 896 65 X 14 = 910 66 X 14 = 924 67 X 14 = 938 68 X 14 = 952 69 X 14 = 966 70 X 14 = 980 71 X 14 = 994 72 X 14 = 1008 73 X 14 = 1022 74 X 14 = 1036 75 X 14 = 1050 76 X 14 = 1064 77 X 14 = 1078 77 X 14 = 1092 -- Not achieved yet, wait for this update -> Legendary rank achieved! (3 years) You can see that I spent more time to hit Full Member, and Senior Member ranks with new rank requirements, with merits, compared to old system. However, from Senior Member rank to Hero Member rank, the old system requires nearly 7 months; and I believe that I will hit Hero Member rank from Senior Member rank within less than 7 months (in fact, I made on within nearly 3.5 months). I make the comparison simply to emphasize that if you are a good poster, you can rank up at the same speed as of old system. Ranks | Time-required (old system) | Between ranks | My spent period (since reg. day) | My time between ranks | ___________________ | _____________________________ | ___________________ | _________________________________ | __________________________ | Full Member | 4.5 months | n/a | ~ 13 months | n/a | Senior Member | 8.5 months | 4 months | ~ 16 months | ~ 3 months | Hero Member | 15.6 months | ~7 months | ~ 19.5 months | ~ 3.5 months |
I earned my 600 th merits on 9 th September 2019. I earned my 700 th merits on 2 nd October 2019. I earned my 1000 th merits on 21 th December 2019.

From my story, there are lots of things to learn in the forum (I actually keep learning every day); and there are also lots of things, and lots of different ways to help others (with what you have). Maintaining your positive attitude, to learn, and to help; you will rank up, gradually, and nearly effortlessly. It is ridiculous to say you have to make efforts effortlessly, but it is fact, believe me. When time goes on, and you become a real constructive user, your posting habit changed completely, and you will be unable to make shit posts. That is why I use the term: Making efforts effortlessly!

If this post is geared at encouraging others, then it should be moved to the beginners board and if it is otherwise, it'll be better to wait till you're a hero member to tell us your story/achievement.

What i like (mostly) from your thread and posts are you always write using data & you always use parameters to compare the data that you present. With all your activities, i believe (like you mentioned before) you can reach hero member ranks less than 5 months (not 7 months, start with this comment). Congratulations on going to the next stage, HERO MEMBER

I meant I estimate my time to move between Senior Member rank and Hero member rank, from March to next one or two months. The estimated period does not start from today. By the way, I think you should use default font of the forum, which is easier to read. I don't think you should use this font. It is not a good strategy to differentiate yourself from others. The sans-serif style is any typeface that lacks the projecting features radiating from the edges. Hence the reason for the word “sans,” meaning “without.” These styles are generally cleaner in look and style, and dominate most web-based experiences. “Gothic” is often used with Sans styles.
Popular Font Options: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, and Lucida Grande
That font looks better on my phone. Anyway, I still don't like it. San-serif fonts are better.

I agree, it doesn't have to do in meta anyway. Let @tranthidung post it, besides the journey isn't that easy and we all knew that thus for sure everyone will be overwhelmed if this gonna happen to them. Congratulations btw!

Great testimony, thank you for sharing tranthidung. I know that many users on the forum are not happy with merits requirements and feel they are in a bad position compared to older users because it is much harder for them to progress in the forum. Your example shows that this is not the case and that everyone here was rewarded fairly, according to their work and effort.

First, I want to say thanks to all of you. Some of you are right that I should make this thread when I already rank up to Hero Member. I thought of it previously, but I think that why do I have to share my journey, two or three months later? Then, they can save their two or three months of dissapointments and do nothing. Instead, they will use those months to improve themselves. I do think it is better for them.
You will do hit the Full Member rank. This guy: CucakRowo is a very good case study for you. Two days ago, he/she was a Member, and now he/she became a Full Member, with total merits stood at 128, currently. This account created on March 12, 2018, it means he/she spent 16 months to move from zero to Full Member; but within two days (or less than two days), he/she received 28 merits, that equal to 28 percent of total merits earned during previous 16 months. I am on the road to Full Member station Merit system does not stop users to rank up, it motivates them to become better users, everyday. They can change from shit posters to good posters. After months of adaptation to merit system, their posting habits become better, and some day it will become their natural good posting habit. They can make good posts without efforts, without over-thoughts on merits. I know that many users on the forum are not happy with merits requirements and feel they are in a bad position compared to older users because it is much harder for them to progress in the forum. Your example shows that this is not the case and that everyone here was rewarded fairly, according to their work and effort.
Appreciated. It seems that we were in Bitblender campaign, right? I think I will do rank up sooner than the end of this year. In average, I receive around 40 to 50 merits per month. Congrats in advance mate, I think you'll finally become a Hero before the end of the year, though we don't post the same boards but I can notice your posts that are seemed to be helpful, with that said, I think you deserve to rank up soon.

Yeah, and I really miss the campaign, we were a solid team that time and I thought it would last and you can rank up their to become a Hero Member. Anyway, for sure more campaigns will come in the future with a better rate and a long term one.

You're almost there, someehat close enough to see the door, just like me what I'm suppose to do now is to knock and hope that there will be someone who'll open it. And unlike you my friend, I am not a good topic starter, I'm just using what I have learned from life to gain a common reasoning to share with the others, though some are not accepted by them.
You will definitely reach it, just a little bit more. And only a few weeks will it take as I can see it from your profile. Good luck buddy! Just continue doing what you believe is right.

I think I find a user which is similar with me that is not a good topic starter. I think that is the reason too why I'm struggling with merits (a bit ). I'm just posting what I know (stock knowledge ) but you're a few merits away too from becoming a solid Hero Member. To the OP, what can I say . I have seen your contributions here on the forum and I can only say congratulations and don't stop contributing here . This is just one proof that the ones who are contributing are the ones who will rank up and those who are just spamming are the ones who don't rank up (including me).

Reaching to any rank you wish of depends on how information you passed and research you carried out using statistics as illustrations. Bitcointalk then (2017) and now is not the same. Then you can ranked up without merit but now requires merit for you to be ranked up. Albeit your post has be lovely since from day one you registered as member on bitcointalk

It's definitely harder to rank up these days, and certain posts are more likely to get merit. For example, the statistics users are chucking out via data scraping, and all that will be more likely to receive merit, because its both informative, and out of the capability of many of the users here. There's been 3 stages of ranking up if I remember correctly here on Bitcointalk. First of all, ranking up was tied to amount of posts you had (activity wasn't implemented at this time) then activity got introduced, and there were a few moans, and groans about it. Finally, the merit system was implemented, and has had the most criticism, and impact on the forum. I personally believe its had a positive impact on the forum, and is the better system of all three.

Anyone who have the interest of the forum at heart will agree to this especially if that individual have been around for at least two of those three eras (stages) you listed above. This system (merit) brought about more informative, educational and captivating topic. The merit system have achieve its initial purpose (that's bringing about quality discussion). We just have to build on it from here henceforth. OP, congratulations on your soon to rank up. Thought you'll get there before @cabalism13 though you're almost there. It has been a journey, can remember our days of Full member like yesterday, another user I'm routing for is @r1s2g3. Took you guys long enough though congratulations.

Definitely, I think introducing the activity ranking system was an attempt to prevent account farming. If I remember correctly, signature campaigns started to pick up during this time, as well as the value, and publicity of Bitcoin. Therefore, the forum was subject to more posts, and more account registrations. I'll have a look at the data of this later on when I've got a bit more time, so this is all off my memory at the moment. So the activity system was introduced to prevent users ranking up by spamming, and then potentially trying to scam. Back then we didn't have a trust system, and high ranks were considered more trustworthy, because it seems our society values higher, and longer term members than newer ones, which I think we as a forum have been proven wrong on this assumption multiple times. The merit system was then finally introduced to put a significant end to low quality users, account farming, and spammers. I think we'll always have a problem with spammers, and low quality users, but at least these days they don't get rewarded for it. Again, we'll always have account farming, but for different reasons. The majority of account farmers are now those that register hundreds of accounts to bump, and advertise their services.

Is this one the first signature campaign in the forum? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=215769.0

It's certainly a great achievement and what's even more impressive is that it took you less time to get there than most users here. I hope to see more of your positive contributions to the forum. Congratulations in advance!
