Which one do you like?
If you have a better suggestion please share with us!
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

We have BTC why we need another symbol?
It's like creating another symbol for only Ray Tomlinson besides the simbol @ for email.

If you think to represent satoshis (as unit of value) we have already mBTC which works great. The $ sign is same, same sign for cents.

So what will be the purpose for it ?

Such a cool and nostalgic logos you have in there. Sorry for the outdated jurassic graphics made in seconds but i bet this design would work. Here's my version of satoshi symbol. An upgraded one should be better but the idea is great though.

Well, you know, i expect Bitcoin to increase it's value in the next years. So i think the Satoshi symbol will be more used and more important in the future.

I like the S combination with the @ symbol.  Not many people use Satoshis currently because the price is still too low they are using smaller denominations of BTC like mBTc which is 1/1000th of a bitcoin.  It would be cool to get this symbol added to keyboards eventually.

Its not too low, its actually good. Things in my country are coincidentally now expressed in satoshis, because the fiat is on par with them (but soon its going to be 2 fiat for 1 satoshi) but while we are at it things work just fine:

Drink? 16 000 satoshis. Pringles? 30 000 satoshis, coffee 6 000 satoshis, 500gr of sandwich bread is 20 000 satoshis.

The "Big" stuff is expressed in millions. A 50" LCD 4k tv is 4 500 000 satoshis.

A whole bitcoin is 100 000 000 satoshis, something you might see when buying property or for the national budget i guess.

If you think people cannot live expressing prices in thousands, and millions all the time, you have always used perfect "strong" fiat coins. Me? I'd be glad if they declared the satoshi the national coin and dropped the garbage fiat we use.

I'm going to miss expressing things in satoshis real soon... stupid politicians thinking printing money solves everything, can't wait for a world without government and institutional control over currency...

Oh, i have said this before, anything beyond satoshis and bitcoins is useless, especially mBTC, there is nothing more useless and confusing than that. I particularly condemn whoever came up with BIP 176, DO NOT WANT jaejoon.

The current symbol is best BTC IMO. People can use whatever symbols or logos they like in their apps / websites. Maybe in future where everything is decentralized we'll vote for a new symbol or logo.

I almost posted that this is unnecessary until I Googled the symbols for smaller units of fiat currencies like cents. I was surprised they have their own symbols that is different from the main currency symbols.

I wonder why you think we need the symbol now. It will probably be necessary when spending less than a dollar worth of bitcoin becomes too common?

But these all symbols resembles the USD.

We need to create a design which should not looks like a USD symbol. It should be unique and d the icon of Bitcoin including that. But I am unsure that is there people really caring to see the symbol of Satoshi.

Really? The only one that resembles a "USD" symbol is that of the @$ combination. Unless you mean to tell me that the letter "S" is all that's required for resemblance. Roll Eyes

The instant we create another symbol we will begin to constantly change the symbol like Fiat where each president and his political party change when they don't like the symbol that the old political party that was in government created. This current symbol is very good and doesn't need to change, it represents bitcoin very well

Just like the symbol BTC classic and sinning Cool

What do you mean with " sinning "?

Some of these symbols looks too similar to dollar symbol $. Probably many people who aren't aware about crypto much wouldn't notice difference from first sight.
And I don't think that we need to make symbol for Satoshi. Just look at fiat currencies - $,€ and others. Cent or penny still hold same symbol  of currency. Some currencies have symbols for cents, but it's not widely used.

I really liked Satoshi's symbol number 5. It looks interesting, but I think that you need to present more options for choosing the best symbol. Wink

I was quite young when I started with this but do you not remember putting things in terms of 0.00000001 got extremely confusing.

Maybe a symbol for mbtc or microbtc would be interesting since a few microbtc are worth cents now...

mBTC, μBTC? Alternative for the latter is just uBTC Smiley

The key part of why there's no prefix for satoshi is that the closest one would be nano (10-9) whereas you would need to do 10nBTC, kind of ugly. Maybe a better answer is XnBTC (using roman numeral)?

My point is, we had btc and then used the BTC symbol? Even something for a nano bitcoin symbol would be good. Or a ubtc symbol.

The lightning network seems to use 10^-10 btc also as its base unit...

Why we just don't represent it like sBTC
That should be enough to know that you are using Satoshis of Bitcoin Smiley
