Hello, we have created a minimalist open-source block explorer for the Libra blockchain testnet: Libra Checker

Additionally, we have published on our blog a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a similar block explorer on your own. The tutorial is a work in progress. We will continue updating the tutorial, also improving the Libra Checker.

Your feedback is much appreciated.

But why? Do you think Facebook wouldn't create their own block explorer and have a beautiful API design for developers to create their own? I see this is your parent company and you have many projects listed which are using/for Libra https://librastartup.com/

I don't get it.  Lips sealed

Looks like OP is a Libra supporter, or maybe a part of Libra marketing team? Who knows. But it's clear that there is some degree of seriousness on that website.

Anyway, Libra future is not that clear yet. Facebook might not run it at all because the government doesn't like Libra. Why not built something for Bitcoin OP?

WHAT?
would you mind explaining how in the world do you have a block explorer for a blockchain that is not yet even released? the site is constantly listing new transactions, where are those transactions coming from Cheesy
not to mention that Libra is most probably NOT going to have an open blockchain for you to even see those transactions.

the launch is supposed to be in 2020... https://www.npr.org/2019/06/18/733701971/facebook-unveils-libra-cryptocurrency-sets-launch-for-2020

Quite surprising, there is news that Facebook's Libra coin is not going to launch at all, so what is this Libra explorer, it comes to early without the dev checking if the Libra coin is going to launch at all, or he is planning to launch his own libra coin since Facebook's libra coin will not push through.

In the long run, I don't see Libra as being Facebook's coin. Facebook will have similar rights to Libra as any other member of the Libra Association (see whitepaper). Also, they actively invite and encourage third-party developers to build products based around the Libra Blockchain.

Looks like OP is a Libra supporter, or maybe a part of Libra marketing team? Who knows. But it's clear that there is some degree of seriousness on that website.

I'm an independent serial maker and entrepreneur. I work on many apps, and yes - I also started the Libra Startup project and will try to make it unbiased and informative.

Yes, there is a risk. Though the initial hearings were quite positive.

I dont see for it to be on the positive side.It do still need lots of debates and arrangement before this Libra thing would able to push through.
The project hasnt launched yet but now we do already have a Libra block explorer? Amazing.

I have to disagree with that. Facebook will never open source their stuff in such a way that it doesn't belong to them anymore. They encourage third-party developers to do things for them and they will certainly compensate for it but at the end of the day, they will be making more money than you can imagine.

I opened the block explorer and it keeps showing new blocks every few seconds
is this the same Libra coin by facebook? what is the block time for this coin?
it's awfully (too) fast, every few seconds 100,000 LBR are minted?
with this much inflow, this coin won't be valuable, even doge isn't as bad as this

You know the model Libra is based on, don't you?

Libra will be a typical consortium blockchain, "mined" by a set of approved nodes. Mining won't be the main way to create coins, because it will be a stablecoin "backed" by a variety of assets, among them the major fiat currencies.

For a testnet, it makes sense to create coins very fast, because they shouldn't have any value, so many developers can try out the transaction and smart contract features.

It will be open, see the whitepaper. Libra Checker is currently running on the Libra TESTNET, which is live.

thanks for clarification. i did some search and it seems like i have missed quite a bit actually. i need to start looking more into it specially their dev docs (https://developers.libra.org/docs/welcome-to-libra)!

one suggestion: is it possible to also include the raw transaction data in your explorer instead of just the hashes? i means something like this that bitcoin explorers have: https://blockchain.info/rawblock/0000000082b5015589a3fdf2d4baff403e6f0be035a5d9742c1cae6295464449?format=hex

It was strange yesterday there was a lot of news that this currency would be stopped because of insufficient regulations to include it, I did not think it could be run on Test-net.
Is the site still under development? Because I can’t see the tx fee and others (Public Key/Hash.) What information will Explorer provide? Will it differ greatly from "BTC/ETH" explorer?

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, the blockchain provides more data, I will include it in the next version of Libra Checker. Currently, it's in the early beta stage (MVP).

Libra is owned by Facebook, a big company, and they will most likely have a tradmark for it like any given product they have. You have illegally created your own block explorer for it which I don't think will be a good idea especially when Facebook tries to shut you down. Libra isn't like Bitcoin where you can create Logos, Coins, and Services out of it simply because you need to ask permission first to Facebook since it is their product. It's better to delete your website now before Facebook even notice you have one.

Libra is not a commercial trademark.

To register it as a trademark and to restrict its use would be against Libra's mission and vision (see whitepaper).

Furthermore, it would be close to impossible to protect Libra as a commercial trademark, because both the wordmark and the symbol are generic, something you would expect to be in the public domain.

Even the Libra logo is just a generic character: ≋
