The nation of Ancient Israel was set in place to maintain the promise of the coming Messiah.

When the Messiah (Jesus) came, He accomplished the work of teaching the clear meaning of the laws to the people, and taking the punishment for their mistakes. Ancient Israel was no longer needed as such.

The message of Jesus is the point of the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news that death will be overcome by the resurrection, and everyone is welcome to eternal life in Heaven. The only requirement for gaining Heaven is to believe that Jesus did the work.

The trick is, if a person does evil intentionally, it breaks down his faith. Faith can be broken down to the point where a person loses Heaven.
