For example, you can create an account on Medium which is a website you can create your own blogs. Then write blogs related to your business as well as your company introduction. Just keep in mind that using websites like Medium or any open platform really won't give much weight to your links because so many other outbound links are already there.
In fact, unless your posts become really popular your links will probably be classified as no-follow which won't give you anything at all. So, back to the same conclusion – content is king.

Also totally unwarranted if the site is just starting out. Focusing on content and SEO optimization as well as good social media presence is mandatory at first to build a good brand name. This won't show results right away but in time good SEO can bring a lot of traffic. And then it is your job to optimize the content so that this traffic is converted into customers or returning readers or whatever it is the person is looing for.

Another thing I can suggest when optimizing for SEO is focus on long-tail keywords at first. Choose at least a handfull of keywords with medium to low popularity and avoid working with really popular ones.

There's a few tips, but mostly it's all comes down to the quality of your site. Here's a few tips:

1. Write good content.
There's absolutely ZERO point in generating SEO (backlinks, etc) if your content isn't noteworthy. It's just not something to generate real backlinks, they're all going to be fake.. Google will eventually pick up on it, and you'll either get blacklisted, or demoted. Write good content, and also don't plagiarize (this will also get you blacklisted/demoted). Just simply don't copy content. If it's research, rewrite it.

2. Have a good social media presence/following
This is equally as important. Build up connections w/ your followers. Do your best to create a tweet/fb post for everything you post, so that it can be easily shared. This introduces search engine robots believe it or not, and will help w/ just audience population in general.

3. Write something that's actually NEEDED
This is somewhat like the first point, but don't go writing about something that NO ONE needs the answer to. Try to always solve 2 questions when writing an article:
1. Who would read this article.
2. Why would they read this article.

If you can't answer both, you're not going to know who you're targeting demographic wise, and the post just simply isn't needed.

Paid ads aren't the only way though. I find many think paid ads are the end all-be all, but at the end of the day if you don't have a good site with good content, paid ads aren't going to do anything.
