About Halloween
1.The Origin of Halloween
Halloween is a festival that origined from some western european countries before Jesus was born. these countries include Scotland,Ireland and Wales. These old european peoples believed that dead person who died before would come back during season of harvest,so they set up this festival to welcome their ancestors or expelled ghosts. this is why Halloween came into being.
2. One of the symbols of Halloween--  Pumpkin lamp
Pumpkin lamp is a symbol of Halloween ,its colour is  orange ,so orange is the traditional colour of this festival . making Pumpkin into a lamp is also a tradition,it should be dated to old Ireland .it was said that there was a person called  Jack who was so stingy,so he was not allowed to enter the heaven after death. He laughed that devil would not be permitted to get into the hell, therefore ,he had to wander here and there Carrying lanterns till the date he was judged. So the Pumpkin lamp and Jack became  jokes of the world. Beets and potatoes which was sculptured.after the Irish move to America,.they changed to us pumpkin instead of those crops, because pumpkin is abundant in America. During  Halloween Eve,mostdAmericans hanged out the Pumpkin lamp  in order to tell guys that they could go to ask for candies after dressing up.
3.the entertainment of children
October31th,yes, just the Halloween Eve .When the day was around the corner, nearly all the children would dress them up with  colourful clothers and the Jack lamps, after that they would go to clock  others'doors for candies or other special food.If somebody did not wanted to distribute the candies ,the boys and girls must do some tricks on him,but it did not always happen, for almost the Americans know that it was  needed to hand out  candies during that time.So it is obvious that the symbol of Halloween known to all nations were the strange Jack lamp and the prank if was not given candies.
Above all,Halloween was a festival loved my many western europeans, espeacially the children. As the time going on and the deepening 0f Cultural exchange,it is popular among many nations of othercountries on the world

You didn't do anything wrong. Smiley Thanks for your description!

I'm from America, and we celebrate halloween here! It's my favorite holiday of the whole year.

I love what your class is doing!
