A biggest and most important transfer market each season is summer transfer market, where big clubs have more time for negotiate with other clubs, to buy star players, and to have enough time for players and coach to work with each other before a start of new season.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have problems in their squads but they won't try to spend big budget in January 2025, just like they and other big clubs usually do in past winter transfer markets.

It is wrong to burn a lot of money for the winter transfer market. However, for some teams, the situation will be different. Those who want to change the team's situation with half the season available will do it.

Take a look at Carvahal for instance, that guy absence was felt in that match, Barcelona were just entering every corner they see and printing goals like it's their lucky day.

It is in record that Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor are now registered and will enjoy the rest of the season with no restrictions. Maybe something new happened or something changed, but hasn't La Liga already rejected this income as proof of Barcelona's financial solvency? I don't remember the details exactly, but even with this money, Barcelona couldn't register Olmo.
And frankly, what Laporta is doing is very much like selling off the future in exchange for short-term profits. He has already sold off a huge share of advertising revenue for many years to come, and now this. I don't think that's the right way to do business.

Ancelotti needs to do something in this transfer window because Madrid is facing difficulties to win games when facing big clubs. Let's see how their games end tonight with Real Betis. IMO, the problem is not only because some of Madrid's defenders are injured, but some other players are also responsible for the defeat against Barcelona. For example, Madrid's two pivot players, namely Valverde and Camavinga, both of these players are tasked as liaisons but their performance is very underperforming. As a result, the performance of the defenders is just as bad as their two pivots as liaisons. Moreover, those who play in the defense line are not Real Madrid's core players, for example Tchouameni who was assigned to replace the injured player. Unfortunately, the other defenders' performance is also messy. In the front line, Madrid has fast players and has good individual skills, unfortunately they do not get a good ball supply from their other colleagues. Barcelona can't, they literally failed to register Olmo, how are they going to end up signing any new players? They just have to play with the players that they have, they can't do much. And as far as I know, Real Madrid can't really do much about the current situation without getting a subpar player, you do not get a superstar during winter break, that usually happens during summer, so all those players you can get for 100+ million?

You have to wait until the summer and because of that they are not really rushing into anything. They already look like they can win the league, and that's enough for them, the only place they are missing right now is defense, and they are hanging in there defensively for the moment. Some good players may still have their contract running so it's actually true that buying player over the winter transfer window with some huge funds may look like waste buy if you find a good player that is worth the price,  I don't think it really does matter when such player is been bought,  most importantly is that he gets to deliver as he should and isn't performing below expectations as you can also buy poorly performing player even in the later transfer with huge funds maybe.
