It was a hard blow for Real Madrid, they lost against a team weaker than them, patched up by bottom club Espanyol. They have no shortage of strong players in the club, even Vinicius Jr. played in this game, but that's no guarantee they can win every game.

If they lose against Atletico Madrid or Barcelona it's very natural, they are the favorite clubs competing for the championship this season. With Real Madrid losing this time, the gap with Atletico Madrid is getting thinner, only 1 point difference. Every game is as important and should be taken with a sense of readiness and seriousness. I understand that it's necessary to keep your A-list players off some games but even with their presence, they could not achieve much results. Losing this 3 points is quite significant with Real Madrid only leaving Atletico with only a point. Their next fixture is between both clubs Real Madrid facing Atletico and whichever of them who wins their game will top the table once again.

Football is really unpredictable, I can't believe for ones that Real Madrid will lose against Espanyol judging with their performance in some matches ago, most of the big team this season is not consistent at all they are just fluctuating.
