Madrid's squad is very strong. If they want to keep the top spot in the table , Madrid will definitely have to continue their good  performance. If madrid's performance is so erratic, they will not be able to keep the top spot in the table. Madrid is only 1 point ahead of Barcelona. I really don't know what is wrong with real Madrid, they are not playing as I expect them to be playing honestly if they continue this way they will miss out from the la Liga title race, they should try to correct every mistake and come back to form because if they don't they will lose out on the champions League and the la Liga title, Real Madrid should try as much as possible to make their defense very strong because what I'm seeing is that there defense is very loose and that is why they are always scoring them.
Just like you said the la Liga title race is to open for both Barcelona and Real Madrid however any mistake from one of the club is a lost, Real Madrid still has the chance to correct there mistakes right now so they can remain on top of the table till the end of the season and lift the la Liga title.

Real Madrid really ruined the expectations of many people especially bettors who piced them anyways that's football for you when a team underrate their opponents it sometimes ends in a negative way anyways Real Madrid were lucky to get a point and retain their position, else they would've lost it to Barcelona due to goal difference.
 The gap has now closed and such mistake shouldn't be tolerated again cause that's the opportunity Barcelona has been waiting for and if they fail to correct their mistakes then Barcelona would definitely take over especially now that most of their injured players are gradually returning back to make them more stronger. The defence has been a problem for Madrid this season and they need to add more depth to that area by January.

Bro... I was also very disappointed at the performance of real madrid against Elche, a club struggling at the 10th position of the table standing right now. Honestly the game had me scratching my head too as I was all hyped thinking they would roll the Elche guys on their slip. Like come on Madrid you got Mbappe Bellingham Vinicius and all those stars but you still end up tying with them on a 2 - 2 draw game. It just felt like they were sleep walking half the time. The annoying thing about the game was they could have done better than they did and Xabi himself was aware of this and he must have been pissed off for not pushing harder because man, the league is too tight for a club like Madrid to be dropping points .

Real Madrid disappointed their fans because this match should have been won by them. Even if Elche scored a goal, that match was not supposed to end in a draw against Real Madrid. The competition is very tight right now. Real Madrid is not supposed to lose points in this match because I expected them to easily win this match, but they messed up.

I don’t know what Real Madrid’s performance looked like in that match because they did not really perform as expected. They should do more in their next match. If Barcelona gap them in points, Real Madrid won’t be able to win the La Liga trophy this season. Alonso needs to wake up and act ASAP before it’ll be too late.

For me they are tired, the players have done a lot during this period and are looking forward to the well-deserved Christmas break where they can recharge a little.
