I believe that he has learnt a hard lesson by losing all three points. He squad isn't in their best form, for that reason, he should focus on winning all his matches.

But from my experience watching so many matches. I can tell why he decided to rest some of the players

1. Some of them were just from international duty, probably fatigued and trying to avoid more players getting injuries on top of some already injured stars.
2. He was probably trying to give the others play time too. When he doesn't rotate players, you are the same people who will complain  
3. Some players had to rest for another important UCL match that was supposed to be played away from home.

So you can clearly see the dilemma he was in. I personally don't blame a coach when he tries to rotate players. He knows what he is trying to achieve. Sometimes things just don't work out.

If he asks for a salary increase, the team management may consider it, but if he has the attitude of being on par with the salary that a talented player like Mbappe is getting, he may be making a mistake.

It would have been best if the management placed both players on same pay rate. Vini is a skilled player but he is not a goal scorer like Mbappe which is why Mbappe seems to be rated more higher than him. But when it comes to game play I think both are doing just fine. Instead of Madrid instigating beef between the two stars it's best the place both on the same payroll besides Vini was there and has been contributive to the club even before the arrival of Mbappe.

I have said this before on one of my post, Vinicius Jr should think of leaving the club because this has been the issue which to me I don't think it is fair for a new player to be earning higher than a player who has been in the club and leading the team for long, is not the right thing to do. When Benzema was in the club Vinicius Jr was still in the mix, getting the job done and now no Benzema he's still doing his thing and the high pay should be given to him as the 3th or 4th oldest player on the squad (correct me if I'm wrong), but Mbappe just came in and  everything that's suppose to be given to Vinicius Jr was handed over to him (Mbappe), penalty kick, the man of the moment and the highest paid, who won't be angry if such a thing should happen to him? Yes, when Mbappe was not at Real Madrid, Vinicius led the team a lot, and he is still playing well for the team. Mbappe has now become the best player in Real Madrid and he is performing well for Real Madrid, if Vinicius now demands more money, he will never get it. I saw after the last match in the Champions League when Real Madrid won the players and Xabi Alonso were seen celebrating together, I didn't see any tension between the players or Xabi Alonso.

I also think it's just a rumor because Real Madrid's poor performance in recent matches has led to the emergence of an excuse for Real Madrid's decline in performance.

The French player has more limited contritbutions which are mainly in goals he can score. In matches Mbappe can not score goals, his contributions for the team usually are very limited and can not compare to Vinicius' contributions for Real Madrid.

Saying Vinicius is nowhere near Mbappe in value and we can just replace him with some winger? Nah, relax. What you are doing can be regarded as propaganda but not realistic. Vinicius has been carrying this team for a long time now helping cook the defenders better and putting the club on his back even at periods when they were struggling to breath but Mbappe walked in as a finished product with his crazy price tags which made me so expensive. Correct me if I'm wrong but before a player agrees to join a club he or she would have come to agreement, yes? So, while we can all understand as the player improves via performance the salary should improve as well, there would be a system to which this is done. To avoid the club go bankrupt from each player demanding increase after every performance.

Before we become too sentimental on the issue, Mbappe's lawyers obviously negotiated very good for him, no doubt he is a star and deserves such good negotiations. He did not build himself from small just to come and earn less later. As vini improves in performance for the club, his lawyers should simply go into negotiations but let's try not  to place vini against mbappe, like nothing concerns the two of them in the discussion, they are both individual players who know their performance and also know how to tell their lawyers to negotiate for them. The game was against Olympiacos and they already had 9 points. Combining these 2 things he must have found it logical to make some changes to rest some of his main players. They still won their Champions League game.

It was a sensible rotation to me honestly. Because they played their last La Liga game 3 days earlier. And 4 days after the Champions League one they were going to play another La Liga game against Girona away.

It was a good gamble which resulted in nicely.

Sometimes we only judge things based on the results, and we never know what's really going on with the team. I'm sure every decision the coach makes (including selecting players and substituting them in a match) is based on reason. However, those of us who are watching from the outside will question those decisions.

I'm not trying to defend Xabi, and I wouldn't blame anyone who asks questions, because that's a very common and normal thing in football. I often ask why decisions are made, and questions usually arise when results aren't good.

Like only own match can't determine the superiority of the English Premier League because if look at the previous schedule then we can clearly monitor it the many Primer league team have failed to win the match in the UEFA Champions League. Such as Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Newcastle united etc.... So judging from one match is not a big deal....

Besides that if we talked about the Real Madrid and Barcelona then apprantly these both have still a lot of quality do dominated the UEFA champions league competition. Sometimes team made some mistakes and that's why their previous slightly drop but it doesn't mean that they won't be rebuttal this.
