He's always been an option from the start but a recent injury saw his place temporarily filled by Valverde.

Girona finally took the lead before the the end of first half, they performed better than Real Madrid in the first half of the game if you ask me and it's going to be a big issue for Real Madrid if they do not come back in the second half with a better performance cause Girona attack is very strong and if Real Madrid is not careful in the second half they will score more goals and make the game very difficult for them. Well I agreed  with Madrid’s talent is still there, but they need to stay focused on the next match rather than the title race right now. The dip feels more like a temporary blip than a full‑blown crisis, so tightening up defensively and getting the midfield clicking again should be the priority.

Though the formation and line-up played was very good in this match but indeed Madrid was too focused in their possession of the ball which made the results in the first half did not match expectations.

There is still a chance for the second half but I think it would be better if the players are more improv in today's match because after all if they want to maintain their position in the standings then 3 points must be a must for them to get in today's match.
Letting the players be free in holding the ball can be a very good option but don't forget when things like this happen sometimes the ego side of the players is more dominant in a match.
