I don't know if Pep would continue to manage Manchester City after this season but I think he needs to come up with a new strategy cause he's been exposed and always get messed up by teams that rely on counter attacks, similar thing happened when they met Manchester United during the early stage when Carrick came in.

 Now it's happened again against Real Madrid, which means other managers could switch to counter attacks and beat them, they should've learnt from past experience on how to handle teams that mostly rely on counter attacks.

There is not much hope for Alaves to escape with 3 points, Villareal really wants to maintain its current position on the table in order to secure a UCL ticket. But if the conditions of Alaves really want to master the match then they will work harder, especially since their fate is quite critical almost approaching the relegation zone.

Villarreal are currently in fourth place and are 11 points ahead of Betis, who are right behind them. So I think Villarreal can feel quite comfortable at the moment. Alaves are also above the relegation zone and are two points ahead of Mallorca, so they do need points, but their situation is not critical yet. Elche will not be able to overtake them either, because in this round they play against Real and will most likely lose. I believe Villarreal are stronger than Alaves, and they should be able to avoid defeat.

My view on this match is similar to yours statistically Villarreal is well-prepared for this match even as Villarreal is aiming to secure a top 4 finish. Meanwhile, Alaves in addition to their declining form is also struggling to stay out of the relegation zone. So this match will undoubtedly be crucial for both teams with pressure mounting as the season draws to a close.

Alaves defense has been fragile so far and the suspensions of Guevara and Pacheco have added to Alaves problems. Virreal will capitalize on this especially as they come with high confidence posing a threat to Alaves defense. However, this match remains a tight one as Alaves must win at home to move away from the relegation zone. Playing at home is expected to boost Alaves squad morale and help them steal points from Villarreal. Teams are being shocked how they play and this has really affected them entirely for the positive note. The result of this match seems very easy to me. Because Villarreal will want to win this match at any cost and their performance is very good. If this match Villarreal is able to win and if Atlético de Madrid loses or draws then Villarreal will be able to occupy the third place in the points table. I do not think it has anything to do with playing style, it just happens to be a rivalry that Real Madrid cares about and plays with their 100%. Plus, for the first time in the last 5-6 years, we could say that Real Madrid was definitely very much not the favourites in this matchup. Normally when Man City and Real Madrid face each other, either Real Madrid is the favourite to win and even if not then they are close enough.

Real Madrid is a big team with lots of good players that can score goals from any angle team with quality players will not reduce their strength to depend on a particular to perform well or score their goals. But in some season there was a time when it was looking like the Real Madrid team was built in the shoulders of Ronaldo cause he was always scoring most of their goals same thing for Benzema till he left and this season Mbappe has scored more goals than any Real Madrid player but the team is still winning games in his absence which means they do not depend on him. Any player can score in Real Madrid but it's important to note that if some good players are unavailable the team will have difficulty in winning games even though they do not depend on them in everything.

I know that Real Madrid always take their UCL matches seriously irrespective of the current state of their performance.
