They got a point in the last seconds of the game, it is still better than nothing given how close Atletico Madrid is to them if it means anything to them to finish 3rd. If there is one thing that I would want to remove from football, that will be injuries. Injuries obstruct success in football, it has affected many teams in the past. I remember when Arsenal was suffering the same fate as Real Madrid, and Barcelona also suffered the same fate at the start of the season. If you are expecting everyone to be fit in a team, then that's pure luck you want. However, Mbappe will be back against Manchester City in the return leg, that's a big plus for them, so if any player is currently injured, it wont matter anymore, the coach will find a way to keep winning.

This is a chance for Real to close the gap. Elche is an easier opponent between the two City matches. I don't think they will make a mistake here. This match will be at Bernabeu stadium and even several days later Real Madrid will have another big match with Manchester City, it's quite comfortable for Real Madrid to use almost best available player resource for the match with Elche. After beating Manchester City very big in a first match, Real Madrid don't have too much pressure for the second match and they can now focus on La Liga with the coming match against Elche.

They're still in mean time of waiting for best star players to come back after injuries, so their task is likely winning matches even with minimal wins. Such wins might not be impressive but enough for Real Madrid in chasing Barcelona in La Liga.
