For me the only competition Madrid should see as important is the UCL, if they don't handle it very well I don't think it will end well for them because this time around luck doesn't have anything to do with them fighting for the next round of the champions league. It's not all gold that glitters, even Barcelona suffers economically, another year of Lewandoski despite his age? I don't see anything wrong with that, maybe the only bad thing is that they lower his salary, that would (in my opinion) mean less effort.
Money especially in football is the basis for having a performing team, level players are paid and if cash is not enough you can't afford the best.
Even though I have a different theory on this thing (which they haven't adopted in a long time) take young talents 16\18 years old and make them grow, you have two points in favor

Barcelona is using the love that Lewandowski has for the team to make him stay for the club and still demanding for him to reduce his salary, if Lewandowski is wise enough he will not sign new contract, he is one of the best strikers in the world and he is still performing well despite his age but Barcelona is doing as if they are the one helping him, if Lewandowski becomes a free agent today he will get many offers from top clubs and they will offer him more than what he was paid in Barcelona.

Lewandowski should go to another club because Barcelona want to sign new players and they don’t want to increase his salary, they are not even thinking of keeping the same salary for him and asking for a deduction, what Barcelona is doing with all the money they are making from the champions league and other trophies they won last season? This is a huge loss for Flick and for Barcelona, because I saw that Raphinha is expected to be out for about five weeks due to a tendon injury. This will cover all matches against Atletico and possibly even a bit longer. Losing such an important key player could have a major impact on Barcelona. I know Flick has Rashford, and he will try to compensate for this loss with him, but it’s always better when both players are available, and can be used when needed.
