You are right that nothing can be predicted accurately if we do not see the results. The improvement of a team depends on the overall development. The performance we have seen of Real Madrid in the last two seasons has been pleasing in some cases and most of the time we have not been satisfied with them. Even if the team is made up of famous and expensive players, if they cannot perform well and win trophies, it is not a success. The improvement of the team cannot be understood unless it starts next season but I think the team management of Real Madrid has made the right decision in appointing Jose Mourinho as the coach because he has a long time to prepare the team. Yes,, the situation in La Liga is vastly different now compared to when Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid. I can relate to this so well. Last season Liverpool made the highest signing in the premier league but got lucky to finish in place for champion league football. If premier league club do not have 5 slot due to the other teams doing well in European competition, Liverpool wouldn't have qualified for the champion league. I think good signing won't determine a league winner. A consistent team will be the winner.

Managing the pressure around Madrid in this new season is another thing mourinho will have to deal with, even with the squad he has got, the fans and everyone has been looking to see what mourinho will be able achieve seeing that a lot of persons already believes him based on this record and what he has been known to have achieved already all these years.

I believe he will not disappoint knowing his capacity based on his records. Even preseason is not a time I will even use to access his performance because he may be paying more attention the main season fixture.

Everything changed for Carvajal after his long term injury, as he started getting much less playing time. And yes, the competition at right back for Real Madrid has increased significantly. Because of that, the contract terms offered to him were no longer as attractive, so perhaps he made the right decision by choosing to leave. After all he was getting very limited playing time at Real Madrid, maybe at another club he will once again become a regular starter. Real Madrid is definitely going to lift a trophy next season, I believe in Jose Mourinho and the players, signing the defenders shows that Real Madrid is ready and they are ready to win a trophy, the reason why Xabi Alonso and  Arbeloa failed is because they are trying to build a team with young players and Real Madrid is not a team that builds a squad with young players, Real Madrid is a team that buys star players no matter how much the players cost they will make they sign him.

Real Madrid's problem has nothing with managers, but their dream for perfection by accumulating multiple talented footballs to form a team, forgetting that successful teams doesn't depend on talent alone. Talented footballers have individual brands to represent and can't give up certain preferences for another star, thereby falling the collaborative play of the club. Think back in the days as of early 2000s when Madrid had Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Luís Figo, and David Beckham, they ended up having the poorest results in history, despite owning the best talents in the world. Their problem began when Makelele left the team to be replaced by Beckham. Football success is not only dependent on talent, but decisive play, willingness, and zealous takes to win, managers are just there to instill instructions, which is so hard to fully attain with multiple already established stars in one team.

For example, Casemiro received 3 times less at Real than he later received at United.
