Least amateurish Altcoin exchange?

After assessing a variety of alt coin exchanges with considerable volume out there, I come to the conclusion that all but btc-e are run in an amateurish fashion (even by crypto currency standards) and are highly risky to store any amount of value in therm. Even btc-e is high risk but seems to be the best out of the bunch in regards to reliability and track record. I hope I am wrong. Pls correct me if you can with some good suggestions where to trade my alts.

I would say you're doing it right. Stay anxious with all exchanges, and deal with them with an awareness that you know nothing of the behind-the-scenes workings of any of them. Your coins aren't truly safe unless they are sitting in your own personal wallet.

I have multiple accounts on a bunch of exchanges. My most used is Poloniex. But, I think Bter's layout and Kraken are probably my second favorites. I just enjoy the trollbox chat on Poloniex. But, Bter has a great trading program you can download with really good charting, if you can follow support and resistance levels

Kraken is a little clunky to me, but I use it the most.  I also really like the layout of CryptoAve, which is just starting out.  I don't know how well it would do with a higher volume, but no complaints so far.  The interface is, to me, much better than Kraken.  It only hits the main alt coins though, along with Digital Coin.

What about bter's track record? How often do they run into problems and are there any fact based concerns about their security/integrity?

Thank you for the confirmation…I feel relieved to know I'm at least on the right path. I will maintain my weariness (I doubt I could help it anyway haha) and watch them like a hawk until I move them out to my wallet.

btc e? didn't know this was comedy hour. session fixation, session collision, predictable password hashes.

kraken? user interface is painful to navigate.

cryptsy resource hog, odd withdrawal outages. previous session collision problems. has some cool technology(called BOB, a fork detection system basically) on the backend though, i can attest to the ability of the developer(s). this being said, the user interface is terrible and navigation is painful. They have a full staff dedicated to protecting user accounts. these employees monitor logins 24 7. they also have an employee responsible for reading and reviewing the source code of each prospective coin to be listed on the exchange. if man power and sound business practices are your primary concern, cryptsy might be the best out there in all honesty. voting system is unprofessional 

coins-e history of lying and scamming customers. may or may not still be true, another beautiful site with horrible user interface.

bter painful to look at. hire a designer already.

coinex rough start(hacking). good recovery, and neat idea of combining mining with an exchange platform. developers  are not very good at designing user interfaces, as evidenced by the layout of the site, or at the very least they didn't take much time testing navigation prior to launch.

openex piece of shit, totally my fault.

opentransactions a good idea in principal, but in practice it could end badly.

poloniex ugly, amateurish, but pretty fast. developer is honest and pays back his customers for the hacking. very noble in my opinion.

coinmarket apparently the dev team stole a bunch of coins, unless that's all fud.

cryptoaltex uses the openex codebase. probably not a good place to leave your coins.

mintpal best ui i've seen from an exchange, but shady voting system. navigation is tricky, but jquery animations are pleasing to the eyes. i think i like it best out of the exchanges so far, but i'm very opposed to the voting system. that is hands down the most unproffesional thing i've ever seen.

I've never had a problem with them that was not promptly repaired, and they are way more transparent than Btc-e.

Vircurex.com. I use this exchange with a Yubikey 2fa and its the most secure exchange I've used. Th only downside is there are less coins and less volume but it only deals with older more established coins.

I'm enjoying SwissCex for the most part. Feels pretty smooth, looks crisp, site is rather fast and all my alts inc. btc have transfered in and out rather quickly. I've not had a problem with them as of yet. Their staff are rather friendly and value user input. It's fast becoming my (if not already) favorite exchange... I've also enjoyed bter in the past and before that was mainly dealing with btc-e tho not as much now that i'm pretty much using just swisscex. I'm not fond of mintpal, i don't really know why to be honest... something about it puts me off but i can't put my finger on what exactly :\

I was put off by cryptsy in the past for their long deposit/withdrawal times and slow site loading but i've recently checked them out again and it appears they've fixed those issues, albeit their site still seems rather bloated for my liking.

Almost anonymous owners/operators, no proof of reserves, no audits. Dont wanna sound arrogant but Russia, Bulgaria and Cyprus dont have a good reputation regarding internet based buiness practices, not to say "high risk" countries to do business with. They should be pro active about security/integrity concerns but instead they do the opposite and try to obscure their business practices/security measures as much as possible.

At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, I must say that they're getting better and better since November's bubble, and they seem now totally able to handle the site's traffic.
