Video games have been in existence for over half a century, undergoing several changes along the line. One thing that has remained consistent is that the industry adapts itself with new technologies as they emerge. Different eras have seen video games suit the available technologies at their times. From Magnavox Odyssey based on “Brown box”, to Atari’s ping pong arcade of the 1970’s, games have evolved. Now, the biggest gaming companies using blockchain technology are ushering us into another era of gaming evolution.

Over the years, video games have grown from indoor recreational activities to becoming sporting careers. The global eSports tournaments and independent streaming by players have all added a new dimension to gaming.

Blockchain, being a technology that adds and distributes value within industries, has found a place in the gaming industry. As such, many gaming platforms are adapting their products to suit this new technology.

In this post, we will be looking at the biggest gaming companies using blockchain technology. We will also be considering how they are implementing the technology and the value that is offered to users.

Platinum Egg

This is a game development platform based in Tokyo, Japan. The company has developed more than 100 games since it opened its studio in 2002.
Originally, Platinum Egg focused on mobile games and PS2. However, the company has recently adopted blockchain technology into its system. Blockchain gaming has been added to the platform’s portfolio which is motivated by its recent partnership with BitMatrix.

Double Jump Tokyo

This is an emerging gaming company whose focus lies in using blockchain technology to provide gaming solutions. The company is still in the developmental stages, having raised 200 million in 2018 through Gumi Group.
The company’s idea is to create a new business model in the gaming industry by taking advantage of the value-enabling system of blockchain. This will help in rebuilding the future of the gaming industry, which is the aim of the studio.

BitMatrix

This company has recently announced its partnership with another gaming giant, Platinum Egg. BitMatrix is a blockchain game development studio that is based in Korea. It holds the record as the creator of Korea’s first hugely successful dApp game, BitPet. The merger of BitMatrix and Platinum Egg involves the biggest gaming companies using blockchain technology.

Axiom Zen

This company is not strictly a game development company. It has been involved in other areas as an “idea accelerator and building” platform. They are the producers of the product management software, Zenhub. It is a software that has been adopted by some big players in the tech industry like SONY, Google and even NASA.

Axiom Zen’s most popular product however is in gaming. CryptoKitties, which is arguably the most popular blockchain game, is a product of Axiom Zen. The company’s main focus these days is on dApp games.

EMONT Alliance

Ethereum blockchain brought in a different dimension towards blockchain development. It made it a lot easier to create dApps in different fields of endeavours. Today there are a lot of dApp games in the industry, and Emont Alliance focuses on ways of implementing fast atomic swaps between in-game tokens.
This company that is located in Singapore has partnered with Kyber Network to achieve its goals.

Fuel Games

This Australian based game development studio has developed a platform for speedy integration of blockchain assets into existing games. Fuel Games is a product of seed round funding by Coinbase, Sora Ventures, Nirvana and Continue Capital.
The integration of blockchain assets by Fuel Games does not require the implementation of middleware-tokens in any way.

Conclusion

Implementing blockchain technology in gaming could represent a major revolution in the industry. It will enable gamers and gaming platforms to easily manage both the gaming processes and the value distribution systems involved.

Even associated platforms like Blue Baikal are provided an environment where users can follow the trend closely. There, you can get the latest news and information on what is happening in the gaming industry. Also, you can find all sorts of reviews and even make money by contributing your own review.

The traditional gaming industry is highly centralized, making it quite complicated to manage sometimes. Gaming companies that are involved in betting have often been accused of system manipulation. The possibility of this is being eliminated by introducing blockchain for transparency and immutability.

Across the gaming industry, there is currently an atmosphere of change, and the people are gradually shifting towards better developed systems. We are in an era of “swim or sink”, an era where you either evolve or you go extinct. This may be the reason why the biggest gaming companies using blockchain technology aren’t showing any signs of slowing down with the development.

@BlueBaikal,

Even though you are linking the source, you are copying the entire article, robbing the page author of a visit.   Use a couple paragraphs maximum.

Also, you contributed nothing at all with that post.  Pasted the entire page and pasted the URL.
