A new piece of  ransomware called Syrk will encrypt files on your hard drive while deleting entire folders if the ransom is not paid. The malware is based on the open source Hidden-Cry program, an encryptor that appeared online last December and has been the basis for many bits of malware over the past year.

As a Fornite player, why others should seek for an app, program or something along those lines to take advantage over the Fortnite's whole game system.

Based on the article, that malicious ransomware will act as a supposed cheating program for the game. These gamers should know obviously that any cheating program that they will found on random websites are mostly fake and come on, why cheat on this game? Practice makes perfect.

It's like the usual malware around honestly, it will just be executed once the user hit that "INSTALL" button. I don't know if someone will still fall on this obvious trap unless getting eager to find a cheat on this game.

Not the first time a ransomware or a crypto-stealing malware spreads through fake cheating programs for online games, I remember similar thing being reported about Hearthstone in the past, and there's probably many more examples if you search for it. This should serve as a powerful lesson to anyone who got affected that downloading and running programs from unverified sources is a big no-no.

Agreed, this is nothing an exception. Ransomware attacks have been taking place very commonly. It is our responsibility to use the trusted and verified platforms. Recently one of dental patients data retrieval was attacked by a ransomware and demanded a $50000 ransom in bitcoin. It affected 400 dental practices, of the digital dental network. However we can't complain it is our mistake, because security systems were created by human and those were hindered by these people who dedicatedly work on these.

As far as I know this is the first one.

There are a lot of this malwares in the past and I think gamers should really be careful. I remembered one Twitch streamer getting hacked but it is not connected to these but it is a flaw of an application they are using. We should be really careful with the applications we are using.
