I transferred $91.50 = .0096 BC, from my Bovada acc't into Electrum wallet on windows 7-32 bit. I checked to see how much they took. My balance was only .0089.  After many wasted hours, I let it go. Weeks later, I spent $24.95 (.0026). When I checked my balance 2 days later it had a zero bal. I deleted Electrum & re-downloaded. P'word got me back in. It had 4.97278. NOW, 3 days later, w/o anymore transactions, it's at 4.67278. The ONLY purchase shows in the wallet. NO clue what's happening, other than I am gettting ripped OFF! Help, please.

Many services and exchanges charge a fixed fee for withdrawing BTC. The network might have been busy at the time. A 0.0007 BTC fee wouldn't be that much in such a case.

What version of Electrum do you have and where did you download it from? After the reinstallation, your Bitcoin unit must have changed from BTC to mBTC. You can change it in the settings. Have you tried connecting to a different server? There might be a synchronization problem.

So this is your final balance in mBTC 4.67278?

Can you post your Bitcoin address where your bitcoin received so that we can check if someone made a transaction from your wallet because if your wallet is compromised why you still have a remaining balance of 4.67278 mBTC. If you use a fake Electrum wallet they directly send all bitcoins from your wallet to their own wallet but you still have a remaining balance. So my guess you are not phished with fake Electrum.

Maybe you forgot that you made another transaction before? or maybe your Electrum wallet is not properly synced?

BTC0.0089 (original balance) - BTC0.0026 (your expenses) = around BTC0.0063 (fees not included) should be the current balance.

4.67278 mBTC is OP's remaining balance that is equivalent to BTC0.0047 therefore around BTC0.0016 is missing.

Can you analyze well each of your transaction in your history? It was just a small gap between your stated final balance and the supposed current balance. Maybe you missed something.

First of all I suggest you set the base unit to btc so that any confusion regarding unit of measurement is ended. You can do that via tools > preferences > general tab > base unit option. Then I ask that you post a screenshot of your history tab. You can take screenshots using the print screen key, upload it to imgur.com and share the link here.

I also ask that you tell us what it says for wallet type and script type under wallet menu > information.

Edit my best guess at the moment:

BTC0.0089 (original balance) - BTC0.0026 (your expenses) = around BTC0.0063 (fees not included) should be the current balance.

4.67278 mBTC is OP's remaining balance that is equivalent to BTC0.0047 therefore around BTC0.0016 is missing.

0.001 = 2fa fees for using a 2fa wallet. i'm guessing the balance is general bitcoin transaction fees. Once the OP answers my questions we'll know for sure if this is the case.

Thanks for commenting. It's electrum 3.3.6. No idea about the others, nor do I have the wherewithal (competency) to do as you suggest. I have to disagree with you on .0007 being reasonable. A 7.8% fee to allow me to join their merry band strikes me as highway robbery, and I doubt they are giving to the poor, especially since I am one. Moreover, the charge for--I have NO clue--buying a $25 item makes bitcoin seem beyond all logic. What is the benefit? I never pay interest on my credit card, as I pay off the small balance monthly.

Good grief. guys. Never having dealt a whit in bitcoin, I was actually amazed at how that ONE transaction came down. I would certainly remember having done so twice. Plus, this all happened over a 6 week period. When I say there's been only one trasnaction, that's a fact.

I noticed the latest comment said my balance is about right. Well, as I alluded to earlier, I cannot conceive why ANYONE would mess with this garbage. Paypay is infintely better. I'm out $22 over a single DEPOSIT into the account, for which the charge should be exceeedingly neglible. Otherwise, it presents as a clothing store that demands $25 to allow you to shop.

I thank you for your comments, but I don't know what you are asking for. My "statement" shows the one transaction for -2.4359. Even if someone hacked my acc't, it would show other transactions, would it not?

@oldurkey we don't have access to your wallet. Unless you answer the questions I posted above I can't help you.

If you don't know how to take a screenshot with your PC then take a picture using your phone camera of the electrum history tab and share that with us.

Good grief. guys. Never having dealt a whit in bitcoin, I was actually amazed at how that ONE transaction came down.

you don't seem to be dealing with bitcoin. your problems seems to be confusion about centralized services and the fees they charge you (gambling site called Bovada) and the fees you have to pay for on-chain transactions. your numbers also don't make any sense and you don't answer the questions that were asked of you!

Paypay is infintely better.
sure. 2.9% fee charged on every transaction is so much better than 1 satoshi/byte fees charged on any transaction Roll Eyes

can you at least tell us the address you used to receive that amount? or a transaction id
we are in the dark here, only guessing what happened to your bitcoin
but if you give us an address or txid, we can trace where it went

No idea about the others, nor do I have the wherewithal (competency) to do as you suggest. I have to disagree with you on .0007 being reasonable.

Blame the service for not letting you set the transaction fee. 1 sat/byte has been enough for most of the time. You would have paid around 0.00000226 BTC for such a transaction (you have to take a lot of factors into consideration, though). The Lightning Network which is built on top of Bitcoin offers instant transactions for less than 1 satoshi (0.00000001 BTC)

I thank you for your comments, but I don't know what you are asking for. My "statement" shows the one transaction for -2.4359. Even if someone hacked my acc't, it would show other transactions, would it not?

It would, so that's why I suggested that it was a synchronization problem. Click on the red/green dot in the bottom-right corner and try changing the server. You can also post your address here so that we could look it up if you don't mind it.

More to come, but this is a DIRECT copy and paste from Bovada, regarding my last transaction with them, which was my requesting the money be transferred to my newly created Electrum wallet:

Your ps1sp3abz Withdrawal Request:
June 26, 2019
Your Bitcoin withdrawal request ps1sp3abz for $ 91.00 has been processed to 1DVtfqRGHsCcsL2imC8gZVj9o9RaxeVm4D.

Bovada took ZERO money from my balance. Every penny went to my newly downloaded Electrum Wallet. When I first used it on July 20, it deducted -2.4359 from the 7.10868, leaving me with 4.67278.

Why or how a screenshot would help, I've no idea, short of your thinking I'm a moron. However, I borrowed a camera to take the shot.

OK. Feel free to mock away, as I just killed 20 minutes hovering over every visible icon/tab in hopes of seeing "post photo." No luck.

Oh, I also looked up directions on taking a screenshot, to no avail. Not only doesn't the screen dim (following directions from 3 different sources), nothing at all happens. Win/Prnt screen or Win/ps/ctrl or Win/ps/fn.

You didn't receive 0.0096 BTC. Bovada sent you exactly 0.00710868 BTC in this transaction. Then, you spent 0.00232704 BTC and the remaining 0.00467278 BTC was sent to your change address. Everything seems to be fine. It looks like you were charged a fee for the withdrawal. Their website is unavailable in my region, but here's their Bitcoin FAQ - you might find information about fees there.

To be clear, you are saying that the two separate Bovado reps I spoke with (2 different calls), at length, were flat out lying? If so, I will call back and go to the highest available source. That strikes me as an incredibly stupid lie to tell, as the internet can spread it rapidly. Why would they risk rep over a few bucks? I didn't even cancel, merely withdrew funds.

Every block explorer clearly shows that you received 0.00710868 BTC. Can you ask them where did they get the Bitcoin price from? They should have already mentioned withdrawal fees if there were any, so it looks more like a difference in the exchange rate of Bitcoin.

Darn it, I wish I could post what  some are asking for, but I'm in the dark. If you'll at least tell me what to click in order to post photos, I'll take shots of as many variations of the wallet as possible.

Btw, I neglected to mention...the Bovado folks said that I should have tranferred the funds from the wallet asap, as I am at the mercy of (yada-yada) if I let it just sit, which it did, for nearly 4 weeks.

I will add something that I deemed to much info, initially. The original amount--I DID take a quick look within a day after the transfer, was about $83. By the time I made the purchase it had dropped to the amount you all can see, which is about a $15 drop, as I did absolutely nothing.

I swear, I haven't  clue how this can stand WITHOUT documentation of EVERY centavos that is pilfered!!!

PS I don't know how to get some of your quotes in here, to address directly. Sorry.

After getting the screenshot, upload it here: https://postimages.org/ or https://imgur.com/upload?beta . Get the direct link and post it here.

Have a screen of your transaction history at Bovada (as much as possible the detailed one)
Have a screen of your transaction history at Electrum
have a screen of Bovada's response to your ticket if any

But honestly, the transaction link from your given address is already enough. Don't know what are we trying to dig more here or there is still missing infos.

It doesn't matter anymore. We don't need screenshots now.

What has happened is that the exchange rate of bitcoin/usd changed and that is why the value of your balance in USD terms has gone down. On the 27th of june when you withdrew money from Bovada it was near it's peak trading in the range of $12700-13300. So 0.0071 bitcoin was worth $91.50 at that time. However since then the price of bitcoin has fallen and currently it's around $9600 per bitcoin. So that's why your balance is worth less in USD terms.

Their website is unavailable in my region, but here's their Bitcoin FAQ - you might find information about fees there.
For what it is worth, I changed my VPN server to one of their supported countries to gain access to their site. What a horrible site it is. The landing page gives you an unclosable overlay that you have to use developer tools to remove before you can actually click on anything. Anyway, from their FAQs:

Bovada doesn’t charge any fees for Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash withdrawals.

As Abdussamad says, the confusion here is because OP doesn't seem to be aware the price of BTC constantly fluctuates. If you assume OP was always working solely in fiat price, and had Electrum set up to display fiat prices, then the posts make much more sense. He transferred 0.0071 BTC, which was initially worth $91.50, but then dropped to $89 next time he checked it. He likely thinks he received 0.0096 BTC because he is converting $91.50 in to BTC at today's price. The transaction 3c9969d386cd89c8d5d4dbc8a5f0cbcc0d47a96b56881372de9fb9046b74f4ff was made on 26th June, when prices were around $13,000, so this checks out. At a later date he then spent $24.95 (which was actually 0.00232704 with 0.00010886 in fees), leaving 0.00467278 (which he likely misread as 0.00497278, as he says in his first post).

no, he wasn't charged a withdrawal fee
and the rate used is about right according to blockchain.com historical rate
if I mouse over on the amount button, I get this   90.94 USD @2019-06-26T23:32:16Z

I will add something that I deemed to much info, initially. The original amount--I DID take a quick look within a day after the transfer, was about $83. By the time I made the purchase it had dropped to the amount you all can see, which is about a $15 drop, as I did absolutely nothing.
you clearly never hold foreign currency before, as you failed to understand exchange rate risk
what you saw was your bitcoin amount in $ value based on BTC/USD rate at that time
so it's normal to see the value in $ change so drastically caused by bitcoin's volatility
you should pay attention more to your bitcoin amount not its $ value when making BTC transaction

check Abdussamad and o_e_l_e_o posts for more detailed explanations on $ value calculations
that should give you deeper understanding on your past bitcoin transactions
