There is no harm if the funds you have,  you use as investment capital and my advice if you want to invest you should buy some altcoin like Eth, Bch or other altcoin that you really think can benefit  in the future,  if you see now there many altcoins that are falling in price, so that this could be the right now to buy some altcoins at cheap prices.

Nodoubt at present investment in bitcoin is the best option in this bearish altcoin market. If you want to invest $500 in altcoins you can do some analysis about B2Bx, Aeron, V-ID, and Tezos as I feel these are good options for long-term investment but do your due diligence.

the most important thing is to follow a certain strategy and not invest more than 5 percent in the coins that you describe. Hold 40-50 percent of the deposit in bitcoin; 30 percent on the ETH and the rest of the money should already be sent for different coins

Investing in a low price coin will be a good idea, I am sure he can find so many potential low price coin which can increase in anytime. But he needs to be careful to select the coin because, with so many options, he can pick the wrong coins list. He needs to check one by one of the projects, especially for the new coins because the new coins always tempt us to buy but we don't know how good they are. Maybe he can choose the low coin price which is in the top 100 coins list so he can see the chance for each coin to increase.

if btc broke 8500 invest on btc other wise invest on top 10 alt coins that will give quick gains

I suggest you to change your purpose about quick money, we should be patient to watch our investment growing.
Cryptocurrency is not a quick way to make money from it, it will need process,
except you know when the crypto market will be bull running, so you can buy and sell later with profit.

good idea if you reduce risk by investing $ 1,000 in bitcoin and $ 500 in other coins, because we know bitcoin can be profitable. maybe you can invest your $ 500 in altcoin which is also potential like BNB, no more investing in fake coins like co coin that doesn't have a market yet.
