Reality Check: Out with the OLD

Its been a while i posted on the forum but i just felt the need to share my opinion pertaining to the state of the crypto space at the moment..
I used to be one of the few who always had strong faith in altcoins(maybe its as a result of the fact i entered the crypto space as at the last bull run ) but lately i have come to realize that the crypto space has changed remarkably..A lot of hype chasers have left with the dump and a combination of technical soundness and logicality is now being used by crypto enthusiasts.
A brief road down crypto market history has given me a reality check pertaining to the success of most altcoins. Infact Bitcoins dominance in the crypto space speaks huge volume that interest is leaving must notable altcoins. A dive down memory lane has also shown btc, ETH and LTC to be the only constant variables on CMC top 10 for the past 4 years. This shows that with every bear run a new top 10 often emerge.
Crypto enthusiast and new comers in the space are getting disinterested with altcoins and  the believe in a bull run for alt coins is dieing..An investment i made into the space has proven April values of most top ten coins to be their most likely All time high (ATH)for the year and Its even alot worse for coins outside the top10.

Lately coins launched via IEO most expecially on binance are attracting the most attention and in my opinion i wont be shocked some of this new coins will likely do well and maybe replace most coins on the Top Ten.
Whats your take on this?Do u see a bull run for altcoins? What your trading/ investment advice for others?

I don't know about these new coins/tokens replacing the usual top tens. With bitcoin increasing dominance, less and less investors are interested in riskier low market caps.

Invest most available funds in bitcoin.

noticed them too. top ten coins before the 2017 includes NEM and Madesafe but are now replaced by the new coins/tokens. by the next bullrun the new will also emerge and will replace the old ones. i wouldn't mind seeing the old coins stay within the top 50 though, i still have been keeping most of those coin since i was here already when they did an ICO.

It has always been the survival of the fittest. Which has the most developers. Which has the most active commits in development. Which has a large and strong community of volunteers or market participants. Old projects that have a dead end development usually die early.

Unfortunately i do not see much chances for real alt season this year as market will mostly become btc oriented pre and post halving and yes halving is such a huge event which will take btc dominancy to new highs as well this will result in alts suffering further but do not loose hope their will again be reversal and alts will again get their season but for that we need to wait very patiently.

It's hard to picture any coin replacing the top 10 but it's bound to happen sooner or later we just have to wait and see.

Coins launched via IEO maybe the new trend for investors right now but it doesn't guarantee to replace most altcoins (maybe some will)  in CMC's top 10 since most of us are well aware that some of these projects had recycled ideas and was improved upon previous projects.

So in essence, there is almost nothing new (except for some promising projects) yet I would like to assume that a bull run will repeat itself but with exceptions relying on the fact that some people are still keeping their support on certain altcoin's with lots of potential hoping that it would have a bright future in the end.

I agree with this.
Some of them are left there.
Still in top 50 but there is nothing new on their features but just old supporters and maybe some investors who left their coin in a wallet and still doesnt know that they hot hell of a money now.
But that a still coin. We really need movement now just how bitcoin does it.
Time to not just invest and have more usage. It should not all be stuck with just 1 to 10 accounts with large proportions but with millions.

You painted the true picture of altcoins, it is indeed dying the big prove is the market chart where we can see altcoins below the ten rank can only share 13.3 of the market shares, altcoins that has no unique concept and usability in the crypto world will be gone in a matter of time.

ICO investors are getting fewer and fewer and that's expected because of the so many scamming happened in the past, and they are moving to a more trustworthy platform IEO, which is really a very good alternative.

Every year, the position of the altcoin in the CMC will always be changed. Sometimes the underestimate altcoin can replace the old coins and get a better position. But that will only work if the new or underestimate altcoin can compete with the old altcoin because that will be too difficult to do that especially if the old coin has a strong supports and really got a strong position at the market. I think in this year or next year, we will see a new position of the altcoin and we will see which coin will stay at the top 10 or top 100 altcoin later.

The entire crypto market is a joke actually, wash trading, pump and dump, insider trading, etc., something that you rarely see on Wall Street. The bubble has burst, and it will take years to build up that size again.

If those IEO project were going to take over those top 10 coin as you said, you would have seen it by now, you would have heard of those projects more often, now look at it, how many of those IEO projects are people speaking of as much as they speak of the top 10 coins in the coinmarketcap, the only time we heard of those projects was when they were being launched on Binance, and because of the hype, they became popular during that time, but after the project launches, their hype just disappear like they never existed, are those the coins you say would replace the top 10 coins, I don’t really think so.

Bull run for altcoins will sure start one day, and when it starts, it might start with those top 10 coins and then end with those top 100 coins because of their real use case.

I think indeed the IEO program has given birth to lots of crypto and new coins that might be able to shift the altc to the top. everything is possible in the crypto world with market competition, the best that will appear above. but for now we need to consider investing and trading because of the current conditions of crypto. everything goes down and everything gets worse when market conditions are dominated by BTC. altc on the verge of extinction, is it possible to multiply investment or trade in Altc can revive altc conditions.

Before you can convince me  to patronize the new top 10 coins you hope will displace the current top coins, you'll have to show me how many people are using the coins and how decentralized the coins are. You will know cryptosphere has become corrupted If  centralized coins start displacing the current top 10 on CMC. The ranking algorithm will have to be changed or new CMC alternative will emerge with better ranking. In the end, all Centralized abominations will be captured, mercilessly torn in pieces and dumped in bottomless pit

Well said and it must be put forward to others that it doesn't matter the coin you're investing in, be it in the top 10 or top 50, even the BTC inclusive, you shouldn't invest the sort of money that you cannot afford to lose.
The market doesn't have any specific direction nor any definite route or cause of action, anything is possible, be it from the advantageous or disadvantageous point of view, that's why we must always be ready for what it brings by investing what we can afford to lose.

NEM and Maidsafe have way higher marketcap as they had in 2016 when they were in top10. They lost spots simply because of all Bitcoin forks whose market cap is inflated because so many bitcoin holders had not claimed them. And they lost spots also from various ICO coins where huge part of coins was taken by developers and never hit market to correct price.  Conmarketcap ranklist is totally irrelevant.
