Hi all,

So hoping someone could help me in regards to something i have just done.

I sent money to my electrum wallet from Blockchain using my receiving address.

So when i was sending it from my electrum wallet i used the same address as my receiving one above by mistake.

I can see the coin at the address but its not my receiving address anymore.

Anyone know if its possible to retrieve?

Many Thanks for looking and any help appreciated

Electrum automatically changes the address in the 'Receive' tab once you receive some coins to it. You can reuse it as many times as you want. If you see your transaction in the 'History' tab then everything is fine. Since you sent it to yourself, you should see that a small amount of coins has been deducted from your wallet (a transaction fee). You can see a list of your addresses by selecting 'View-> Show Addresses' and going to 'Addresses' tab.

Really appreciate the prompt reply.

Yes the address still shows up in my receiving list but i have a balance of Zero. Will this be timing issue?

As when i check the address on Blockchain i can see the full amount in the address which is in my receiving list.

Any help appreciated

It looks like a synchronization problem. What version of Electrum do you have? Versions older than 3.3.0 can't connect to the servers now. Download the latest version from the official website. Make sure to verify the installer. If you have the latest version then try changing the server by clicking on the dot in the bottom-right corner.

Have the latest version 4.0.0

Have changed the address manually and it has reconnected .

Still showing a balance of 0.

Baffled what has happened

The latest version is 3.3.8. You have a fake version of Electrum, uninstall it at once. Download Electrum from the website I posted above and generate a new wallet. Open your old wallet and move your funds to the new one before it's too late.

There is no version 4.0.0 - do NOT do anything

Latest version is 3.3.8, check here: https://electrum.org/#download

EDIT: reading your thread i think your bitcoins are already gone.

I'm currently building an collection of novelty BitCoin's and physical BitCoin's, contact me if you have any, except Casascius (yet)!

Electrum 4.0 is a malware.

I would format my computer if I were you. I don't know what those hackers did, so I would format just to be safe.
Do not deal with any cryptocurrency until you are 100% sure your computer is not infected.

Download Electrum only from Electrum.org.

That would be an overkill. Reinstalling the operating system should be more than enough. If you want to get a new laptop anyway then do so. Always download software from the official website and verify it if it is related to your money (just like I described above).

No need for a new laptop just like the above said format the laptop and do a clean install of your OS is enough.

Then make sure you have installed antivirus to lessen the risk of getting malware and viruses(Like Kaspersky it prevents you to install fake Electrum based on my experienced). Then download Electrum directly from https://electrum.org/ and learn how to verify the downloaded software you can follow this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5105901.0
