What is your view about the 24,000 BTC moved from the OKEx crypto exchange? Is it merely a scheduled maintenance as the trading platform claims or is it a hack? Mere FUD? Let us know your thoughts.

It's almost certainly part of OKEx's wallet maintenance; all of the transfers were the same amount for BTC (3,000BTC per transaction), and an account I follow on Twitter that tracks large crypto transactions (Whale Alert) has stated that these transactions are part of wallet maintenance: https://twitter.com/whale_alert/status/1169189384052232192. OKEx's Twitter account even responded to this tweet.

Anyone trying to convince you that this is a result of a hack is FUDding.

can you give the transaction, I want to see the transaction,
that could be the possibility that Okex got a hacker attack, but in order to avoid any problems or FUD, then the drama was made to do maintenance service,
we cannot be certain, but as long as the 24,000 BTC is returned to Okex then it will not be a problem.

We should stop worrying about this.
The users has full right to get worried and to ask question. So far there are several exchanges those were hacked but later it was discovered that it was inside job.

In crypto world, exit scam is very easy especially for an exchange. People keeps money to them and when they will see they have enough they can just shut down their service. All they need is a good excuse or a story.

I hope everything is find with OKEx.

Since the said exchange already made a statement, let's put that as assurance that everything is good "for now". We don't want to make random speculations after all although it's obvious that we might have some concerns on our mind.

Okex's CEO informed that it was just maintenance as their schedule, They moved from one cold wallet to another, this is normal and other exchanges do the same. We should stop worrying about this.

Maintenance is normal it's just that OKex doesn't give an announcement nor noticed about it. I considered part of moving coins as critical and sensitive action and their users must aware of that. Remember that recently Bitker became sh*t although not that popular compared to OKex, still it will give a bit of worrying today on some people.

Definitely a little bit too much panic from the community. While it's understandable for the daytraders to panic, I'm guessing that a good percentage of people still leave their funds on altcoin exchanges like OKEx. Exchanges should probably pre-announce that they're planning on moving funds next time though, to prevent FUD.

Ok at least OKex has calm down the public regarding that huge amount of bitcoin being transferred it. I guess we can't blame the public for the scare though, because we have so many hacks before and it is just right to be paranoid when you see one big exchanges shifting funds from wallet to wallet without any notification.

OKex should at least learn from Binance's CZ himself, who provides update on maintenance or if they are going to move huge amount of bitcoin for security purposes.

They have no reason to lie about this because in as much as they want to hide things, there is no way that they can hide this if it was hacking because it won't be long that the hacker would move it into too many wallets for withdrawal purpose, bout since it was only moved as a single transaction into one single wallet, which everyone can still see.

I think it may be that mere maintenance as they claim, and we have to learn not to doubt everything that we see or hear, just give them the benefit of doubt because now that you are suspecting, it may not be true and you might have created doubt already in the main of people which may create panic, and the next thing you will see is people would start withdrawing their money either to another wallet or into fiat.

They wouldn't gain anything if they were to hide what's really happening, so my take is that it's just a scheduled maintenance on their end to ensure the security of their platform. If it's a hack then we'd already known by now, however it's not and besides, 24k btc is not an easy figure to make out of thin air so why the need to hide it if they were hacked?
