This is a question to people who at some point discovered Bitcoin, but only became Bitcoin enthusiasts later - what was your experience?

I'll start with my story - I have first learned about Bitcoin in 2012 when I was looking for payment options for one online deal. In the end I used some other payment options, and Bitcoin didn't catch my interest, although I did claim a 0.005 BTC faucet once.

Then in 2014 I have learned about Dogecoin, and I still have vague understanding of cryptocurrency, I traded my BTC for DOGE and even tried to mine DOGE on my GPU. Then I quickly forgot about crypto again.

After that Bitcoin caught my attention in 2016 and I finally became a bitcoiner.

Looking back at all this, I wonder why it took me so long to became more involved in Bitcoin. What if millions of other people know about Bitcoin, but don't consider it as payment option or investment or store of value - how can we catch their attention?

i learned about bitcoin back in 2012- early 2013 and what i heard was that there is this thing called bitcoin which you can generate on your PC and sell it for a good profit. my friend was mining bitcoin and was earning money. so i never bothered with it back then!

then again in 2014 i heard about it again but this time i heard there is this thing called bitcoin that you could use to make payments online without any restrictions or middleman,... so i was hooked. and that's when i entered bitcoin.

Was looking for a way to make money online passively when I was younger. I was looking for an alternative of that thing you run and generates you very small amounts of money. It was named Gomez Peer or something like that. Someone suggested Bitcoin mining as an alternative, so there's that.

Looking back at all this, I wonder why it took me so long to became more involved in Bitcoin. What if millions of other people know about Bitcoin, but don't consider it as payment option or investment or store of value - how can we catch their attention?
They're going to realize the importance of it when they're going to need it. Specifically, I think the first people who are going to realize the importance of a scarce and decentralized asset is the people who are in countries that have experienced and are going to experience financial crisis. Take a look at the Venezuelans. Having a deflationary and unconfiscatable money is a no brainer, because their local currency went to crap. For some demographics like the Americans though? It will be harder to convince the masses because the US Dollar is simply doing fine right now.

There was a Twitter directory called Twiends(they still exist) that accepting bitcoin payments back in 2013.
The price of a Twiends premium account was in bitcoins looked pretty weird to me.It was around 0.0001 btc, so I thought myself  that  bitcoin is a weird currency or token,if something can cost less than 1 btc. Grin
Later that year(2013),bitcoin appeared in the news, due to the first big price pump, but I wasn't insterested at all.I started using BTC back in 2015,when I was selling web design services online.

I don't know anything about bitcoin before 2016. But in 2016, when I browse on one website, I see that a new trend which is going to increase and I am curious about that. Fortunately, one of my friends came to me and talked about his new side job as a trader, and it makes me more interested. Later, I ask him if he is trading forex or other else, but he explains that he is trading bitcoin.

Bitcoin? What is that? That word makes me weird, and I decide to search on Google, but I find that a lot of faucets appears as a result, so I check one by one of the websites. I confuse when I read about the wallet, but then I know that is one place which I can store the bitcoin I have. So I download bitcoin-qt, and the process needs a long time before it's finished.

And now, I become a fan of bitcoin Grin

In 2016, I was struck by Blockchain technology. It was a revolution in my head that there is a way to destroy corruption and decentralization. Then I read the best ways to implement blockchain technology and learned about Bitcoin. Now for 3 years I have been working in the crypto market, I use and trade Bitcoin

I was once a freelancer way back in Odesk, and then heard about bitcoin later. Didn't quite understand that then until I quit being a freelancer for sometime. Then early 2017 started to search on ways to make online money again until I encounter bitcoin that leads me to this community. Join few signature campaigns in 2017, gamble using bitcoin and learn how to trade and invest as well.

This is a question to people who at some point discovered Bitcoin, but only became Bitcoin enthusiasts later - what was your experience?

Like what Ygritte repeatedly told John Snow, I knew NOTHING about cryptocurrencies in general.

When my friend first introduced bitcoin, I was actually expecting some internet-related scheme that involves transactions via networking. I ignored it once but when he showed to me his wallet in our local exchange, my current stigma about earning online quickly diminished.

I first joined this forum last June 2017 with the mindset of earning money. But upon reading various threads across different categories, I quickly realized the potential of cryptocurrency if being adapted into our current financial system.
Today, I have reached the rank of Sr. Member and I still consider myself as someone who yearns to learn everyday about anything related to bitcoin and on how it could be fully implemented to our country.

I have been noticing the BTC sign on some sites long before I discover bitcoin but never really gave attention to it. until my sister introduced it to me and say that
I can earn money by earning bitcoin through mining, faucet etc... she also said that there is a forum(this forum) that would pay you for posting. I was reluctant at first
and just created an account here because she said I should try it after getting to jr member I joined a signature campaign and earned my first mbtc after earning enough
mbtc I made my first transaction to exchange it into fiat and at that time it made me realize that this could help me a lot with my bills and that is the reason why eventually entered bitcoin.

Before I started trading I knew nothing about bitcoin and for me it was a completely new wonderful world
Well we all do experience it, I was actually busy that day because i'm looking for a job until one of my friend recommend bitcoin. Its kind of strange because we are not that close but I give it a try. I look for some information, watched some YouTube videos, and read some article about it. It is undoubtedly a magnificent coincidence, it opens new opportunities for me and new adventures.

My most embarrassing moment was that in late 2012 I heard that you could mine Bitcoin through your client, and then assumed that the process of downloading and validating blocks was the actual mining process. I was legit waiting for 25BTC to pop up, lol. You can imagine that I was pretty upset after like 8 hours of staring to a monitor. Cheesy

My next also quite embarrassing moment was that I thought that Litecoin would take over Bitcoin because it was faster. I really didn't like Bitcoin all that much when I started. It was very slow when an exchange requires you to wait for 3-6 confirmations. Litecoin deposits came through much and much faster and for that reason it became my favorite coin.

It took me until late 2014 to figure out that Bitcoin is the shit to focus on. Prior to that I lost a lot of Bitcoins investing in altcoins, and they mostly all turned out to be a scam, and I lost a lot of Bitcoins playing dice. I had almost no Bitcoins left due to the bad investments and bad choices, but luckily the bear market hit the market and I managed to refill my cold wallets by buying the market down from $300 to $200.

Since then I haven't touched a single altcoin (aside from the forks that I cashed out to Bitcoin) and never gambled again. Best choices of my life.

I had come across bitcoins way back in 2011 when someone offered me some Satoshis, instead of paying me money via PayPal however I turned it down because I wasn’t aware what it was. When i came to this forum in 2016 suddenly I realised what it was, and how holding it would change my life. The only way to catch their attention is to show what we brought with it, like I have brought IPhone X, Fitbit and other gadgets with it and I show these to all and suddenly they want to know more about bitcoins.

At the end of 2013 I've read about something called Bitcoin, that worth money and you can generate such coins (hence money) with your computer. Back then I was using the CPU anyway for world community grid, so I thought "let's at least earn a little off this".
After about one month of useless GPU mining (I was way too late) I noticed that even if I mine an entire year, I will be way under the minimum amount to withdraw from pool lol!
I turned then to altcoins: shortly Litecoin and for quite some months Dogecoin - I caught some of the good days and most of the drama.
There were a good number of years I kept looking for altcoins, even after "meeting" bitcointalk, but at the end I turned to Bitcoin. I think that I wasted about 2 years (after reading about Bitcoin!) before becoming a Bitcoiner... quite a shame...

I first learnt about it in 2009 before it had a price. I vaguely recall thinking it was an interesting idea, the bloke writing about it said it was going to change the world, but I forgot about it rapidly so I'm not sure whether I count for this thread.

In 2013 it reentered my mind. Six hours later I owned some.

I'm not exactly objective but I couldn't imagine learning a reasonable amount about it and not getting an immediate boner. I suppose these days it's much, much easier to hear about it in passing in countless places. In the past you had to seek it out which would've set you up to delve deeper no matter what.

I never heard of this before 2015. It was completely new to me, a friend of mine suggested to invest regularly from my day job stating this is gonna get you a big earning in the future. On what basis he suggested I don't know, I got convinced and planned to buy small amount from my day job. This continued for a short, but I was unable to carry forward because of some immediate need for money. If I've saved regularly now I could've got rich.

at first I thought bitcoin was illegal because it was identical to deepwab. I read a few articles about bitcoin and I see that bitcoin is used negatively. and because of that I'm not interested.

a few months later I found an article about bitcoin pizza, I thought this article was just all hoax information. but after I found out this turned out to be a real incident. because of this I began to find out why the price of bitcoin could surge in just a few years.

after I found out about bitcoin, crypto, blockchain, and altcoin. I'm a little sorry why at first I thought bitcoin was a bad thing. now I'm here to be one of the traders who make profit from crypto.

Before starting I didn't knew much. Worst thing that most things that I knew about Bitcoin was wrong. I wasn't very interested, so I knew only some wrong things and stereotypes that it's very difficult to use Bitcoin, everything can collapse at any moment and etc. And these stereotypes probably was main reason why I started everything later than I could. Back in 2015 I was looking for ways how to make some money online. And then I become interested in Bitcoin, I started reading about it and then I decided to give a try. This is how everything started
