Hello newbie and welcome to this forum, you are just a step away from being able to learn something about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. This is the largest forum dedicated to cryptocurrency, and it was founded by the inventor of Bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto.

On your way to acquiring knowledge and skills as well as in any other place you have to follow the rules, and they are presented in Meta board.

However, I would point out a few important things to keep in mind in your first steps.

 - Try to use search option before you start new thread, chances are that there is already an answer to your question. Still, if you are looking for further
explanation and last post in that thread is too old, it is better to open new thread.

- If you have problem with English, this forum is have Local boards, so you can ask for any help or assistance in your local board.

 - Plagiarism is big problem in forum, do not copy paste other people post/s or c/p from any other source without quoting and adding source - otherwise
you will be permanently banned from forum.

- If you open thread for some service, it is allowed to bump it once every 24 hours, but you should also delete old bumps.

- If you promoting something, use your signature / personal text, do not post your link in every post, it is not way how it should be, and most
members do not like that ( some will probably report such posts).

- Try to read more then title and first / last post when posting, and also avoid to post in megathreads because you are very likely to just repeat what
  others have written before you.

- This forum rules do not prohibit the purchase or sale of accounts, but if you get caught doing this, DT members will tag you for that, and with such an
account you will not be able to join any signature campaign or trade with other members.

 - Explore all forum boards, this forum is not only about bounty (altcoins board). Learn and always strive to acquire as much knowledge as possible,
share that knowledge with others, and become a valuable and useful forum member.

This is specially true for referral links.
In cryptocurrency community there are many services which give you nice rewards for referrals
I see many new users here putting their referral links in their posts, but this is not the place for that.

Those posts should be reported and deleted, as far as I know it is also against the rules.

Not only newbies, highly ranked members should also read this topic and learn from it.
Many senior members do not follow those guidelines and they have no idea about what is allowed and what is not especially the rules that prohibit plagiarism and bumping a thread more than once in less than 24 hours (the number of ban appeal threads in Meta confirms this).

Those posts should be reported and deleted, as far as I know it is also against the rules.
You are right, it is against forum rules:

4. No referral code (ref link) spam.

As a newbie, one should focus on reading available sources, both inside and outside the forum. Because most of newbies' questions already repeatedly answered, and they can easily find what they are curious or want to get help.

Using search function (of the forum or of any types of search engine, Google, duckduckgo, whatever) will do help them to find available answers and avoid create abundant topics.

Besides reading unofficial rules of the forum (that is must first priority thing to do), newbies should read a welcome message (from theymos).

After searching and don't find answer or don't satisfy with available answers, they can create topics to ask for help. When they do this, they should know how to make their topic title good, attractive, and understandable. They should make their topic title well, and remember to include topic sentence for their posts.
For this, there are two topics to read:
Topic title style guide (theymos)
Make your topic title, posts more attractive (tranthidung)

bitmover&khaled0111, it is true that it is not allowed to post referral links in posts, however there are exceptions, and one of those exceptions you can see here : Referral Link In Post Is Allowed?.

In some cases rules can be adjusted or circumvented in some way, but this still does not apply to new members. New members for example will never get chance to be unbanned for plagiarism, for the simple reason that they failed to prove their worth to the forum.

There is an old saying that iron is forging while it is hot, it is same with most of newbies who do not follow rules, at some point it simply becomes too late to form them in useful members.

<…> This forum rules do not prohibit the purchase or sale of accounts, but if you get caught doing this, DT members will tag you for that, and with such an account you will not be able to join any signature campaign or trade with other members. <…>
Just to stress on this point, a sold account can incur in multiple issues for the buyer such as:

- The seller may likely scam you and not give you an account at all after you’ve made your payment.
- The bought account may easily be tainted, having plagiarized posts within that, at one point or other down the road (even years ahead), may be detected and reported, leading to a permanent ban.
- The bought account may be a hacked one. As such, the rightful owner could initiate a process to try to get the account blocked, or reclaim its ownership by providing the necessary proof.
- A bought account normally will denote a subsequent change in style (when not in language) of the poster behind. This can lead to forum members being suspicious of the account, showing-up on the radar of others from there on.
- Heavy suspicion of having purchased the account can lead to negative trust (since, from a commerce point of view, the buyer is likely deemed untrustworthy for this event).

Although as @Lucius mentions, it is not a prohibited act as per the forum rules, it is heavily frowned upon and, from a moral point of view, shows no achievement on the buyer’s behalf other than a will to fast-track by cutting corners.

One more thing we need to let the newbie to know which is "copper membership",this feature is to avail for the newbies who want to post pictures for their ANN or other service thread which was brought up by admin to restrict the account hiring to post thread and pictures.

- Explore all forum boards, this forum is not only about bounty (altcoins board). Learn and always strive to acquire as much knowledge as possible,
share that knowledge with others, and become a valuable and useful forum member.

To be honest there are still some boards I have never visited so far, like: Meetups, Press, Goods, Ivory Tower and a few more for sure. I don't think there is much knowledge I can acquire from these particular boards.

It was very easy to follow which sections are visited and how frequently, when the personal user statistics were enabled. For some time, I even tried to visit, some particular boards to make the statistics looks better.

Of course, newbies should be active throughout the forum, but we agree, I suppose, that one doesn't necessarily have to visit all boards to sufficiently broaden knowledge about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, even mining and hardware or any different subject related to crypto.

Of course, newbies should be active throughout the forum, but we must admit that one doesn't necessarily have to visit all boards to sufficiently broaden knowledge about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies or even mining and hardware.
Users have equal rights to visit any boards they want, but they should stick with boards they are familiar and have knowledge.
  • Visiting new boards, and reading to expand knowledge > Good
  • Visiting new boards, reading, then making junk posts to get post quota > Extremely bad.

They might be reported from their junk posts. In addition, I don't think good posters will try to make junk posts in their unfamiliar boards because they all understand that reading first, and posting is the last thing to do in case they have to make posts (to help others, or to ask for more details after searching and self-learning new things).
(2) Spending most of your time to read and learn
Only start composing your posts when you have something extremely constructive to discussions, topics.
Reasons:
- You are noobs, newbies (lack of knowledge, and experience), so what you think are constructive most likely unconstructive in reality.
- When you actually have reasons to start composing your posts, after finishing it, please re-read again and again to check that your posts are good in grammar, vocabularies, and good enough to express most of your ideas. I wrote most of your ideas because sometimes it is difficult for non-native English speakers to write down and completely express ideas by words. It's a challenge for non-native English speakers, who don't have English as their mother tongue.
Today, I saw that thread and commented on that bad topic title.
There is one more thing for newbies:
  • Learning and trying to make good topic title.
Next time, whenever you make a threat, you should name your thread (topic) title better. If you care about more help from others for the thread, you also should rename its title too. This board is for Beginners & help, so the current title is unnecessary. Additionally, no one knows what you want to ask if they simply look at the title.
Please read more guide on topic title
Topic title style guide
Make your topic title, posts more attractive

I would not say that it is necessary to visit each board, but sometimes people focus only on few boards and completely ignore the rest of the forum. Some even put specific boards on ignore, mostly because they consider them as only spam boards. But if you for instance ignore Bitcoin Discussion, you will ignore Important Announcements, and some users would probably save their coins if they read that child board (Electrum phishing warning).

My advice was mostly focused on new users who join this forum only for bounty, and then spend 99% time in those boards, then after month or two complain how it is impossible to get merits on this forum. This is the wrong approach that has very little benefit for the user, but also for the forum in general.

My suggestions to the Newbies are:

  • Focus on the topics you know and comment on it.
  • Even though if you do not know about a topic, search about that and explain about it in your words.
  • Do not forget to put the Source of the article from where you are collecting the ideas and posting.
  • Do not forget to quote the author and comment on it.
  • Bookmark the topics you are interested in. You can learn and comment on that if you have any doubts.

I agree with you that ignoring specific boards is just too extreme, taking into consideration that you ignore all additional child boards at the same time.

To be honest I never ignored an entire section and don't understand the reasons behind such a decision, especially now when the amounts of spam on the forum are significantly smaller.

If I may add, if newbies open a thread asking questions and if they got the "correct" answers already, no need to keep the thread open, better lock it as it could lead to spam fest.

Baofeng, this is good advice, unfortunately it is used by very few forum users. Some may not even know that this option exists, others may be too lazy for such a thing, while some simply forget to look at their topic when given the right answer. There would definitely be less spam if users pay attention on what is posted in this thread.

You are unfortunately a prime example of the user who went in the wrong direction. 900 posts / 378 activity / 0 merits and still Newbie. You maybe can improve your posting, but I doubt you can fix your trust ratings.

Besides what you already mentioned, there are some more reasons that OPs don't lock their threads after getting answers they want:
(1) Don't know that if they don't lock their threads, spammers will join and might turn it into spam place.
(2) They are not real forum users: Don't care what happen next with their threads and the forum, just ask and leave the forum after getting answers.

Good intro. I like the last point about exploring the entire forum. It's too bad that people are just here for the bounties.
The entire forum are useful and helpful to every individual. They are very informative and will give you much insight about bitcoin. You're right that majority are here for bounties but they are gaining much knowledge out of it about crypto
