Lincoln Townley, one of the leading British contemporary art figures (called "the new Andy Warhol"), just sold a collection of paintings for 490 BTC. He is accepting Bitcoin for his works since 2017, when he sold a painting for an equivalent of ca. $500 k.
To be honest, this is a great way of promoting BTC to the public.

And if anyone asked - in the picture here: https://imgur.com/dd0giBl you can see some of his paintings combined;).

Through the artwork to develop Bitcoin, I think it's a very good idea. But to develop Bitcoin I think through investment assets, trading assets, payment assets and more challenging as a gambling asset. I read a while ago about the topic of developing Bitcoin through gambling assets.

Yeah, all we can do to develop Bitcoin so that people can get acquainted near Bitcoin. Even so that Bitcoin can be used in everyday life.

But it doesn't mean promoting btc via art only, and as bitcoin enthusiast i also build some plarform or business that only accept payment using bitcoin. However this is only work for digital business(my business), when i tried to implement payment only using bitcoin it's not sucess.

Yes it is a nice way. I've also seen an artist that promotes bitcoin through his mural. He's also a member of the forum, Pascal Boyart.

The new Andy warhol does not look anything like the old andy warhol in my opinion,,, but it seems like he has already made a lot of money.

5 million dollars wow. Did anyone imagine you could have artists making this much btc in the real world before? I know I am still surprised! Amazing news for the guy.

It's nice that this artist accepts Bitcoin as payment, of course. It can boost awareness and adoption is certain circles. But at the same time when I was hoping for something bigger under such a name of the thread. Like a contemporary artist making a painting, devoted to cryptocurrencies or something like that. That would indeed be promotion via art, and what's really the case is not as big of an event. Oh, and by the way, it seems that Bitcoin art exists as well, it's just not nearly as popular as this Lincoln guy:  https://www.artforcrypto.com/.

Not going to look up if that 490 BTC thing is genuine. I say good props on anyone who can convince people to part with that amount of money for art.

In the eye of the beholder and all that. 100%

But getting it in bitcoin isn't really that much of a special advertisement in that amount. Although I can almost see the headlines down the road.

Criminals use bitcoin and art auctions to launder money.

Among Bitcoin millionaires, there are many connoisseurs of art. This is what this artist is guided by. I support him, it’s called to be in a trend and understand that Bitcoin is worth selling art figures for it

Lincoln Townley understands the value of Bitcoin and I would not surprised if he is a crypto trader in addition to his professional activities. It would be nice if other artists adopted the experience and also sold their works of art for crypto. This greatly helped to popularize Bitcoin.

Agree with you in this topic give some proof that people using bitcoin(lot of bitcoin) to buy artwork. However this is only work for digital business(my business), when i tried to implement payment only using bitcoin it's not sucess.

I guess this depends on the audience you are targeting and you should give it sometimes.  There are lots of services that were paid in Bicoin and are doing well.  Though I believe you should implement several options in your payment so that it won't hurt if your client is  unable to pay in BTC.  Either way just having a BTC payment option in our business promotes BTC usage.

It is a good news that some people are taking profit while promoting BTC by selling their arts.  This will encourage several artist to do the same and that will be good in Bitcoin economy.   More services that demands and allow Bitcoin payments means more path for mass adoption.

It is a positive thing that creative individuals are using their art to promote Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. I look forward to listening to a top celebrity sing about bitcoin and crypto. Art is more relatable so as more people promote it with their craft, their followers become more aware of it.
Indeed, its possible that most of them will be curious and fascinated about bitcoin. Though we can't really assure that they will come and invest. Anyway art is a creative way to earn money and since most of us have enough knowledge about bitcoin, people like us will absolutely be interested and amazed at the same time.

I really don't see the value in a painting like the one shown in the OP, then again I really don't know anything about art Tongue
I mean, it's definitely kinda neat that he's selling them for Bitcoin, it shows that there's adoption in so many different "industries" (if you can call art an industry)

Now, stuff like this I do really like:
Yes it is a nice way. I've also seen an artist that promotes bitcoin through his mural. He's also a member of the forum, Pascal Boyart.

There are large areas of activity where people quickly learn about something new. Cars, food, sports, art, all this helps to spread information about something new. That’s why I agree that this artist will help popularize Bitcoin in art and i am so excited with it.

Art is an important means through which communication can be done with ease. You can just imagine the world without any form of art, the beauty of the world would just be lost. Bitcoin can certainly be projected through the appropriate works of arts.

There are many large companies in cooperation with Bitcoin. But the company does not exist that sells artwork like paintings. This will add to our knowledge to develop Bitcoin. Antique entrepreneurs may be more interested in developing Bitcoin to buy an artwork.

This is a very real development and can benefit the artwork.

I don't think this to be a better way of promoting bitcoin. From my understanding he is an individual artist and he has accepted bitcoin for the painting he has done. This seems to be a way to eliminate the taxation on the amount being got for the painting. If the transaction was made in terms of fiat, surely he'll be supposed to pay big Tax, now accepting bitcoin he has benefitted out of it.
But never forget that for him to accept this huge amount as payment for his art must be too much risky,we knew how volatile cryptocurrency is that it can double the amount or divided this in just a matter of minute or hour so this painter is really a crypto enthusiast

But ofcourse your point is also valid because the taxation is really high compared to the transaction fee i he use bitcoins payment method

Anyway whatever the artist intentions here the most important thing is he is accepting bitcoin and this will help the market to circulate more

I remember someone from this forum who genuinely promoting different cryptocurrency through painting but I forgot what is his name. He's selling his artwork for BTC but I don't know if someone buy his artwork after that.
Yes, it is a good way to promote cryptocurrency through painting since people will recognise it if offered publicly.

indirectly he has promoted BTC, I also think like that,
but the question is does he not regret receiving BTC payments in 2017 to 2018?
because we know that BTC prices have been bearish for more than 1 year,
I hope he still keeps it or has sold it at the end of 2017.
