I've been giving btc away for free to people who have zero experience or knowledge of crypto, in an effort to spur on mass adoption and raise awareness of what we all know to be innovative and amazing technology.   Smiley

If I had unlimited resources and connections, I might target celebrities and internet personalities with a lot of followers. Offer them free bitcoin to publish youtube clips on their experiences using crypto to get the word out there. Being far more limited in scope, the best I can do is to try to find nice people, give them free btc and hope they have a good experience spending it.

There are small business owners I've seen who are fustrated with payment merchants like paypal allowing reversal of transactions nearly a month after payment is made. While crypto isn't perfect, it still has many advantages which make it attractive on a standalone basis without marketing or hype being necessary. I think more people would bitcoin if they only had prior experience with it. In an ideal setting, one person using bitcoin could tell 10 others about their experience using it. Those 10 might tell 100. Those 100 might tell 1,000. And before you know it, we've achieved exponential growth. lol

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Any recommendations for a strategy or format which might be utilized in an effort to help crypto mass adoption?

I think giving out btc for free is not the best thing to do or what will draw them in bitcoin stuff.
My thought is that you can teach them how to invest or trade on it. As the saying goes ; teach someone how to fish and not giving them fish. That is, give them the source not the result.

It's something that some people have been doing for a long time. Not about Bitcoin, but about BTC derivatives or altcoins.

I can advise you to use Youtube. This is the platform where you can find your audience
You could, for example, look for Youtube channels where you are sure to reach the right audience. Channels on new technologies, gamers, etc. You can propose to make a contest with them by making the subscribers win a few bitcoins. In the form of a gift card or something else. It's usually good in term of ROI.

As for targeting the business owners, it's all about showing them the potential to grow their company. If it becomes popular amoung small and medium biz, the big ones will follow the trend.
#followthemoney

When we use VISA the receiver pays a fee based on a percentage, while with BTC it's the sender and the fee isn't based on the amount you sent.
So there is definitely a cost saved they can't ignore.

Why would you teach them something they might not evnn be interested with? Not all of the people are fond of investing and if you will be specifying that they should invest on bitcoin, they would suspect that you might be plotting a way to scam them, especially people these days usually like to look at bitcoin as a scam. Better give them bitcoin and let them do what they want. If they like it, they will go back. Nice OP, i think the best way to sell something is let them try it first.

This is a beautiful project but how will you going to identify those people that they will not pretend innocent about Bitcoin? And how much Bitcoin that you will going to give considering the whole world will be the beneficiary of your generosity? If you want Bitcoin to be more famous then why not simply use social media like Facebook as they already dominated the world then donate your Bitcoin to the charity.

It’s a bad idea to give out bitcoin for free, because people don’t even want to figure it out.
I helped my friend get cryptocurrency through the bounty, which he immediately sold.
Then he asked if there was anything else to sell, since he only believes in fiat money.
I suggested that he study other projects, but he refused saying that he was not interested.

Its good to see someone is making solo effort in trillionaires industry ! to help grow the bitcoin. I am not sure if "act of giving" will work here or not. But surely it is something outstanding one can do for time being.

I think you should create a team of people who are on the same page as you are in. This will increase your "power of spreading" substantially !! I mean 100 people working like you can tell 100 other, and then they will tell 100 x 100 others and so on! This might just speed up.

However, in each stage everyone shall share bit of bitcoin to next person and let them have the experience of using the bitcoin.

Then only it can work in first place.

But challenges ,

People are greedy, they might pose honest and may not even proceed further with act of giving and this may just stop the chain or break it short.

In a world of honesty this would spread on fast track and will make you achieve your goals.

It's a nice idea. Probably it won't have a huge effect, but it should have at least some positive effect. One issue is that bitcoin isn't really ideal for fast payments right now, something like XRP would give them a better experience.
I know people don't like XRP or Ripple, but if you're looking to give newcomers an experience of frustration-free instant money transfer using crypto, XRP is currently better than bitcoin.

We should all be doing this, this is a good project to advance adoption, we should also educate people on what Bitcoin is and how good and how we can benefit people from using it, we already have faucets, this is also a big for people who wants to start out on how to use wallet anbd how to do transactions, I started on faucets and I guess many of us do.

Visual and interactive content reinforces the concepts in the subconscious mind so producing videos about Bitcoin is the fastest way to advertise.
You can pay to some YouTubers to tell them experience about that currency, for example, "A Day Without a Dollar", "Life with a Cryptocurrency," or making crypto songs.
I remember that a lot of YouTubers have prepared such content.
Concerning the forum, you can create a campaign "Bitcoin for Arts."

Most people are happy to accept something for free, but I think that the idea of giving crypto for free to people "who have zero experience or knowledge of crypto" is not exactly the best. People first need to learn about crypto, they should know how to use wallets, what is the difference between coin address and private key, and how to use fees in the right way.

If you give BTC to someone who does not know what to do with it, did you achieve something positive, or did you throw it in the wind? People need to prove that they are capable of something, otherwise we can have a negative experience instead of a positive one.

The good news is spreading fast, but the bad news spread even faster.

I'm sure that most people will immediately dump their free coins on exchange, some will hold and dump later, and only a tiny minority will use it to buy something. The positive effect here is not that people will start using Bitcoin with a currency, but that they will get experience of using Bitcoin, and might try it again in the future. But still a lot of people would just dump it and forget. I have gifted some dogecoins to a friend many years ago, and he isn't interested in crypto today.

Your thought about giving popular people or celebrities to create a video of their experience using it is good. It's an exposure on how bitcoin can be really used as a payment and that can also remove somehow the negative thought of bitcoin being used only for illegal transactions.

How much free bitcoin you've been giving out to each individual?

good point though he says due to limited resources he might target some public people with influence for the bitcoin giveaway that he does
but if i am that person , i would not agree to something i do not know in particular even if its free because i have my name and credibility to protect.
So basically you would have to atleast present me a basic summary of what you would want me to publish.

A few of you are talking about people immediately dumping or withdrawing it or whatever but I think OP's point is to distribute bitcoin to complete newcomers and people who have never heard of bitcoin.

To me, if they actually end up using it in whatever way possible, whether to dump it on an exchange, for another alt, or buy, or even give it away, then the objective of getting them interested enough to learn how to use an exchange or wallet... is achieved.

OP would have taught someone else to not only fish but seek out that fish.

Bitcoin isn't just about creating holders, it's about getting people to buy into the idea that it ca be used as money or store of value or whatever other use. The use it, it's a win.

The best course of action right now is online, not small business. It would be really smart to contact with instagram shops, they are just taking couple of pictures of their products and they are selling it mostly out of their home 90%+ of the time which means they are not even a proper business but at the end of the day they are still selling so if they start to accept bitcoin payments as well as other regular payment methods they have, it would basically ripple to other online business slowly, then you can go bigger and bigger with other online shops, if we can make sure bitcoin is more of an online shop preference thing and make it common there then eventually regular brick and mortar stores will start to accept bitcoin as well. I don't know how you can convince people but if you can then small time online places like instagram shops are best way to start.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Any recommendations for a strategy or format which might be utilized in an effort to help crypto mass adoption?
Giving some BTC seems like a nice way of encouraging people to use it, but at the same time, it really seems to me that if a person does not care about Bitcoin, the only thing this person will do after receiving BTC will be trying to sell it back to fiat. At least, that's what I would do if someone gave me something that is useless to me but can be exchanged for real money.
I saw a guy on Youtube who tries to boost adoption by making videos with puzzles, and the first person to solve the puzzle automatically unlocks the prize in BTC. Sounds interesting to me but those specific puzzles seem too difficult. Maybe something like that, something interactive could help.

Once free giveaway helped with the increasing adoption of bitcoin. Now things have changed a lot, and what we need to spread is the true knowledge about cryptocurrency and the need for the fast moving world. Right now giveaway will make an user get interested towards it, but when he gets the same periodically he'll stick to it else will start to move on. We need to educate about the earning possibility and as a compliment giveaway will help in a better sense.

I would put the focus more on Lightning with how cheap and fast it is for people to transfer satoshis.

All I have to do is ask them to pull out their smartphone and install the BlueWallet. I then send them like 50,000-100,000 satoshis so that they can play around with it. Yes, it's a third party service that takes care of everything under the hood, but most people don't care about that as long as they just keep a low amount in their wallet and see it work without problems.

If you think about it, it's an extremely powerful tool to send someone satoshis under a minute. They can instantly spend their satoshis without waiting for a confirmation. That's power.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Any recommendations for a strategy or format which might be utilized in an effort to help crypto mass adoption?
maybe you can try to be a sponsor team (soccer, basketball, boxing, horse racing or cricket),
sponsoring one of the most loved sports teams is the best way to attract attention as did this Sportbet.io https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5183939.0,
the community will support you greatly.
