What are everyone's thoughts on this? Any recommendations for a strategy or format which might be utilized in an effort to help crypto mass adoption?
maybe you can try to be a sponsor team (soccer, basketball, boxing, horse racing or cricket),
sponsoring one of the most loved sports teams is the best way to attract attention as did this Sportbet.io https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5183939.0,
the community will support you greatly.

A great way to promote bitcoin adoption is via sponsoring one famous soccer team. Soccer is currently the top sport around the globe so it has a large following from the masses. If the OP can afford to do that, that would be a great way to promote crypto particularly bitcoin.

It's a fantastic way to get people know about bitcoin and its mechanism. It will greatly advance the business of those merchants who gets their PayPal payment reversed. Bitcoin will be easier and faster. Sometimes people want to collect free gift without action, how do you handle this?

If I had the money, I would do free events that talk about blockchain technology and its potential for university students.
The students are the future of the country, so when imparting to them the potential that is hidden deep under the slander of crypto, they will have a positive perception of crypto and will create new things in future.

I've been giving btc away for free to people who have zero experience or knowledge of crypto, in an effort to spur on mass adoption and raise awareness of what we all know to be innovative and amazing technology.   Smiley

If I had unlimited resources and connections, I might target celebrities and internet personalities with a lot of followers. Offer them free bitcoin to publish youtube clips on their experiences using crypto to get the word out there. Being far more limited in scope, the best I can do is to try to find nice people, give them free btc and hope they have a good experience spending it.

There are small business owners I've seen who are fustrated with payment merchants like paypal allowing reversal of transactions nearly a month after payment is made. While crypto isn't perfect, it still has many advantages which make it attractive on a standalone basis without marketing or hype being necessary. I think more people would bitcoin if they only had prior experience with it. In an ideal setting, one person using bitcoin could tell 10 others about their experience using it. Those 10 might tell 100. Those 100 might tell 1,000. And before you know it, we've achieved exponential growth. lol

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Any recommendations for a strategy or format which might be utilized in an effort to help crypto mass adoption?

Its really worth encouraging for you to want to do your own part no matter how small in increasing the popularity of bitcoin. Giving bitcoin free of charge in other to promote to me is good but not worthwhile maybe because of the kind of environment that I found myself. I discovered that there are categories of people that surrounds me.

1. The ones that know about bitcoin but laziness and ignorance have kept them in the dark. Giving these set of people would be a waste of time and resources because they might not even check it out.

2. The ones who knows about it but fear of them doing something illegal will make them oblivious of seeing things the right way no matter the disguise it been dished out.

3. The most important group are those who knows and they need the push for them to go all in. These set of people are the ones I try to identify and encourage anyone else to look out for because those people are the ones that would make the little ''investment'' a worthwhile exercise.

How much free bitcoin you've been giving out to each individual?

This is a very nice question to ask.
I'm curious about the amount but basically most of the time when I have asked other generous people, they don't want to disclose an amount and it's okay if Hydro will not answer this question. With the introduction he has, I guess the amount is decent for experiencing bitcoin transfers and transactions.

And what criteria do you use to measure the knowledge of those who say they don't know about bitcoin?
How do you source for them or they message you that they don't have knowledge and they need their portion of free bitcoin   Grin
Maybe by asking random people with a few questions that only bitcoiners can answer will define that the person that he has asked is a total newbie to bitcoin.

The idea to give bitcoin by free will be a great idea, but I don't think that will make people want to search more about bitcoin because they will search the other opportunity like giveaways so they can get more bitcoin.
I think you can try to make a quiz on Youtube to reach more viewer so you can give the bitcoin to them.
You can give the question related to the bitcoin lesson or about bitcoin in the global so they can search the answer by reading in many websites and they can come back to your Youtube channel to give the answer.
You can decide to give the prizes to the winner, and you can choose to select up to 3 people as the winner.
Or you can promote one Youtube show like another channel, and you can pick the winner after you see their reaction or answering the question.

Hello Hydrogen, this is a nice way to make people get interested in bitcoin, i used to make this kind of giveaways too, i like the giveaways where the people learn something on the way, that's why i have done some brain wallet giveaways, brute-force giveaways and even vanity gen giveaways, those are nice dynamics to let people learn while have fun and win some money on the way.

I think giving out btc for free is not the best thing to do or what will draw them in bitcoin stuff.
My thought is that you can teach them how to invest or trade on it. As the saying goes ; teach someone how to fish and not giving them fish. That is, give them the source not the result.
It depends on the situation you are, if you are taking seminar to introduce BTCitcoin to new users who have no idea about anything and if you are demonstrating it to the people you are bound to give out free bitcoin to make them understand the concept and i am sure majority of the BTCitcoiners have done that in the past. I stopped doing that when the price crossed $1k before the big rally as it was not a fun thing to give away freebies like that if there was a big crowd  Cheesy.

There are small business owners I've seen who are fustrated with payment merchants like paypal allowing reversal of transactions nearly a month after payment is made.
It is entirely true that small business owners are frustrated with every payment gateway not only paypal. If there is a dispute they will freeze your assets until it is resolved and it will take months and small business cannot afford to wait that long, BTCitcoin is the solution for that but it is hard for these businesses to make the clients understand to pay using BTCitcoin as majority have heard about it but finding it difficult to use.

To help bitcoin awareness is good, but I think the path that we are going now is already good.
The government regulating crypto and this means they are seeing the adoption is increasing, the fact that Facebook is planning to enter the market, that's already huge since they can attract billions of users around the world to use their Libra coin and might also be interested in the entire market.

Our little effort may help but its the institutional money that could help more for massive adoption.

This is a beautiful project but how will you going to identify those people that they will not pretend innocent about Bitcoin?

I lurk on social media and mixed martial arts / anime forums. There are a few people I follow who I know have zero experience or knowledge of crypto. I offer free BTC if they make a free wallet on blockchain or electrum. Them give links to places they can exchange for gift cards or apply for virtual cards like bitpay and blockcard. Wire transfer is the last option I mention.

How much free bitcoin you've been giving out to each individual?

So far I gave away 0.03 BTC total. It should be more than that. There are many I offer free btc to who declined as they did not know how to use it or had a lot of pride and didn't want a hand out.

I acknowledge many of the negatives others have mentioned for why it might have zero impact. Hopefully if people have good experiences with crypto it might help to counter the negative view about crypto solely being utilized by drug dealers, criminals or money launderers that is common with those who have zero knowledge or experience.

I think the best strategy could be to give crypto to the unbanked or those who can't qualify for a bank account. That demographic could be the most likely to utilize and embrace crypto over the long term within a necessity being the mother of invention theme. I haven't worked out a reliable method of how to approach that. Also I'm a bit poorer than I was when I was giving away a lot of BTC so this is on hold for me. Although if others decide to pursue it I wish them success.

Hands up! You really have a nice advocacy Smiley. But there's something which bothers me, what if the lucky receiver you picked made a conversation to his other friend which is also a btc investor (assuming) about all this stuff and take advantage of it? I mean, his friend convince him to accept your free btc offer and then just easily gave it to him since he got nothing to lose because he is not interested to btc at the first place. I'm just worrying that what might happen in the end is that selfish and greedy people will got benefited by your good deed instead of the right people.

IMO, much better if you will start first in the circle of your friends simply because you personally know them. You can assure that such scenario won't happen. If all of your friends already knew about crypto then try your relatives, workmates or even friends of your friends Smiley.

You don't really have to do a giveaway to convince people to make use of BITCOIN. To me, it's a waste of time and money. Those people you give that money are just going to look for ways to sell it and get the money, that's all they are after. I will advise you to just give them lessons on Bitcoin and allow them to make their choice. Whether they want to invest their money or not , it is up to them to decide.

Majority of the people that joined Bitcoin is just because they are looking for free money and when they don't see it, they quit. I have seen a lot of them, just like my friends, all they needed was money and they couldn't get it. So, now they have all lost interest in cryptocurrency. You don't owe anyone, just tell them about Bitcoin and you can also tell how useful it has been to you. If they want they can do more research on it and also decide for themselves.

Your thought about giving popular people or celebrities to create a video of their experience using it is good.
Yes, I have seen some celebrity-comedians do skits on bitcoin, just like Hannah Stockings. The skit shows how a lot of people view Bitcoin as an investment and she on the other hand was trying to convince them that Bitcoin wasn't meant just for investment. You really need to check it out on YouTube.

I tend to agree. I know that a lot of unbanked people use very costly services where they have to cough up 10% in fees each time they want to pay a bill or send their family some much needed funds.

With Bitcoin, even when you take the relatively higher on-chain fees into consideration, the amount they 'lose' in total fees will likely not surpass the 1% mark, which means they have more money left for food and other necessities.

I would love to help unbanked people locally and explain them how Bitcoin works, but we don't have that here in Western Europe. The banking system here is pretty advanced with little to no exclusions.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

The idea of giving out bitcoin just to create more awareness and set a pace for mass adoption is good. It took me years before I could accumulate substantial bitcoin even after gaining indepth knowledge about it. No capital to accumulate BTC or trade it to increase it. I engaged in lot of faucets in order to gather enough which wasn't enough after all. I believe your Giveaway will help people coming in to easily experience the dynamics of bitcoin and own their personal BTC that they can easily work on and perform different experiments with on their own. You can do it in such a way that these people learn about bitcoin in an ideal way and show sign of engagement with the crypto space before you give it out to them. And a sort of follow up should be done to make sure it is yielding positive and intended results.

The volatility is also a factor to take into consideration. In that regard, just for the sake of providing them a better alternative for their daily spendings, stablecoins would be a better fit. If they on top of that have funds they won't be needing in the forthcoming months or even years, that's where Bitcoin comes into play as hedge and of course for the massive upside.

Bitcoin is so scarce and has so much upside, that people will eventually regret having spent it after seeing the price rally. Fiat motivates people to spend it because they know they will get the same amount back every month, and they know it loses purchasing power. I think that's a more effective approach for people who aren't yet into Bitcoin. They should hoard the Gold and dump the Copper. Wink

This is a good idea if you know the people that has no experience yet in crypto market. But i think it's difficult to identify people not yet engage or have no knowledge in crypto. Maybe there some other way to market the people in order to increase bitcoin mass adoption.

You really share my view of investing in people. I really love your exponential thinking, but in order to find a talented person, we should just help them in terms of knowledge and be able to support them on what they don't have.
Never send them money because money only makes them feel valuable and cannot motivate them. I tried your idea but it didn't work, and they see me as a fool  Smiley
