WTF I love Yang now!! Yang Gang 2020!
Not really but it might be fun to vote for him in the dem primary to throw a wrench into their gears..

I watched the dem debates the other night and I'd say Yang was one of the better ones of them, and that if any of them but Biden get it things will get crazy.. Beto is off his rocker with his "Hell yes, we're going to take away your AR-15!" and I like how biden spoke up for the constitution a little, but all of them want to give illegals free healthcare so the whole lot of them are out of the question..
If you watched that debate and don't think they are all nutz I don't know about you..

$1,000 a month would be cool though and even better in Bitcoin so I could easily get it at whatever South American island I will be bee-bopping around in my sailboat retired living the dream on $1,000 a month + whatever else I have..

$1,000 a month (per adult and will surely bring an American chick) plus a signature, a little trading, some rental income.. Heh heh, rat race is over..
I'll take advantage of that system I don't agree with..

Their a lot of funny memes about Yang too.. +1

That's me on my boat, but less asian..

This open announcement seems unfair. Is the position or a job is an agreement or a service to the country by safeguarding their needs and necessities? This statement ensures me as a give and take policy. Thumbs down.

Cool beans. Too bad Andrew Yang is polling at a dismal 3% right now. Up against Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders I just can't imagine him winning, especially on a platform like UBI.

Trump may have seemed like a long shot in 2015, but he was already polling at 30% by this time.

Personally, i love to hear such news about bitcoin but I also wish people like him stay low a while till they get into power and then unleash their plans for crypto. My reason being that, cryptos have got as many haters as there are lovers so him doing that can make him lose some points. Staying neutral on issues like this should've been the best thing he should say.

But why stop at 1000$? Make it 10 000$. No!!! A million! Two billion! 34 Trillions!Everybody should get as much "free" money as they can carry a day.
Of course, who cares where will this come from, nobody gives a damn about what 300 billion a month would cause in an economy, let there be free money!!!

Just throw money at everyone and everyone will love you till...hmmm..I heard that before...

Yang is very smart and has thought a lot of this through but even so this will be a hard sell to the old guard who just can't see the vision. It's like all the bankers crying "tulips!" when bitcoin is mentioned. Yang is far too interesting to actually be able to get the nomination but I wish he would.

I like the way he casts it as a dividend on the equity we each hold as citizens. Therefore it is not free. But in that case I'd want citizenship rules tightened up considerably. If people want dividends from their investment in the country then they need to be actually invested in the well being of the country.

Perhaps the money should be given to people who actually deserve it, the majority of the population, the working class. (people who actually give up lifespan at a exceeding rate to serve others)

It works when all the people have food water and shelter, and the city`s are more self sustaining and housing. So wait what are we suppose to do let a few create the supply while the rest of us slave for it?

Fuck that, everyone should make the supply at the same rate, then enterprise if they want to.

Yeah, comrade, the money should all be given to the working class, to the heroine mothers, the steel factory workers, and the children that are going to protect the fatherland. Death to the kulaks to anyone who isn't sweating tears and blood while working for the glory of our beloved country.

Because this has done wonders in the past, in Eastern Europe, in Zimbabwe, in South Africa , in Venezuela. Only success stories!!!!

So wait what are we suppose to do let a few create the supply while the rest of us slave for it?

So I guess you're one of the fans of redistributing Satoshi's coins to all the people in the world, right?
I'm really curious how are you going to weasel your way out of this one.  Grin

Indeed this is how we ended with 2 USD monthly salaries, no healthcare, no education and rampant crime.
You can link this in your comments: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crisis_in_Venezuela

There wasn't such a land reform of late, but many owners where stripped of theirs during Chavez, to be put in the hands of workers, and then... they were all abandoned.

Ironic that, under that flag of socialism, the minimum wage was essentially abolished. And the rest is the result of rampant corruption and crime. Funny thing is, they use the very same arguments you just did jokingly. I once watched the last speech of Ceausescu on youtube, and its almost identical to the typical speechs of Maduro. These people appear to not have a mind, or don't care to repeat the same things endlessly. Replace Kulaks with "American imperialism" and you have nailed "the left" speech of this subcontinent for the past half century.

Imagine your UBI money become $500 in a day or transaction fees suddenly raise to $10, that'd be disaster for people who barely make a living Roll Eyes

Or imagine an average citizen googling "download Bitcoin wallet" and falling for one of those fake malicious wallets, because they don't know that you first have to verify the site and then the cryptographic signature of the developer. Or how their exchange account would get hacked because their password is their cat's name. I think 99% of the population is simply not ready for Bitcoin because of their security habits.

Is forcible land redistribution really comparable to basic income? The US is already a welfare state, so changing the structure of paid benefits shouldn't warrant vague comparisons to Soviet Russia.

The important question seems to be "how will this affect taxes, especially compared to existing welfare systems?" Does anyone know? Because presumably if someone is getting paid $1K in basic income, they are not also getting paid by welfare programs like SSI, food stamps, AFDC ("welfare"), and things like that. Right?

i thought this technique of "fooling people by paying them" only works in under developed third world countries with a gigantic gap between the upper class and middle/lower classes in society. it is kind of funny to see it in a supposedly advanced country like US. it would be interesting to know how much this has worked on Americans, and more importantly how long would it take to see the effects of it in their inflation and by how much. i have seen 20% increase in 1 year before...

It reminds me of Rahul Gandhi of India who also spoke similar things like "universal basic income" before the election without looking at the feasibility of such project and without considering the situation of the national treasury. isn't it an open call for bribe?? But yes, cryptocurrency may see fresh liquidity from US market, if it becomes a reality! But those who are screaming with happiness with the hope of receiving $1000 worth of bitcoin payment, did they consider the feasibility of it??

This is a form of 'freedom dividend' for all Americans chosen between 18 and 64 years. Which is known for asking that the US government pay US $ 1,000 per month. The fund is a basic form of universal money to make a little money because of automation.

Agreed, everyone was up in arms when Donald Trump suggested that they should build a Wall between the USA and Mexico and the cost of this wall was supposedly about $21.6 billion. I think Andrew Yang is targeting the poor and unemployed voters with promises like this.

I have been in countries where the government have large social grants for unemployed people and most of these people just stop looking for work and they waste the money on booze. Teach them to fish, give them the tools to fish... but never just give them the fish.  Wink

Because presumably if someone is getting paid $1K in basic income, they are not also getting paid by welfare programs like SSI, food stamps, AFDC ("welfare"), and things like that. Right?

That is the problem, a welfare state stats spends too much money will eventually fail.

And people should realize something, just like your house or your car or your bank account, the money the government pays is OUR money. The government isn't creating money out of thin air it's redistributing funds, and if this happens without your accord, guess how is called forced wealth redistribution. You, me, everyone in this topic will be taxed more to cover this kind of program in his own country. And think of the numbers, 1k/month/each? 2.8 trillion a year?

Guess how will he cover it, introducing VAT!
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/how-would-andrew-yang-give-americans-1000-per-month-with-this-tax

Whenever I read that a tax will be introduced and it will be higher for yachts, I'm sure the one proposing it is a frustrated pos who isn't fighting for the "normal" people, he is driven by hate against the ones that have more than he has.

Oh, and that would actually mean that you will only get 910$ since 10% you're going to pay in taxes when you buy stuff.
And the increase will also affect things outside those 900$.
In the end, due to inflation, raised prices and the wonders of socialist policies guess what will happen.
Instead of everybody having a nice life we will all be equally dirt poor.

Then the government won't have money and they will further raise taxes, when there are no more taxes they will start printing money....how many times do we have to experience this to understand why it's a bad idea?

i thought this technique of "fooling people by paying them" only works in under developed third world countries with a gigantic gap between the upper class and middle/lower classes in society. it is kind of funny to see it in a supposedly advanced country like US. it would be interesting to know how much this has worked on Americans, and more importantly how long would it take to see the effects of it in their inflation and by how much. i have seen 20% increase in 1 year before...

Bleah, populism has hit Europe as well, look at what's happening from the UK to Italy.
A new wave of social justice politicians are trying to get votes not likes or thumbs-up, and sooner or later we all are going to pay a hefty price for those shenanigans.

I once watched the last speech of Ceausescu on youtube, and its almost identical to the typical speechs of Maduro.)

I always thought Ceausescu was also some auto mechanic or something close to a bus driver like Maduro, guess I was wrong. He was a cobbler....
The right people for the job...of ruining a country.
