Great news! And impressive numbers. I hope this will convince other retailers to start accepting BTC, thus leading to a snowball effect.

I'll need to remember this link for the zillion, "no one uses Bitcoin they just hoard it" threads. Thanks OP.

Hmm. All those cold stored BTC getting spent at online retail outlets and getting converted immediately to USD.... Think I will keep away from holding Bitcoin for a while.

I have a feeling overstock doesn't pay 2.2%+20 cents. My company does a million in credit card orders per YEAR and we pay way less than that...

who is your provider? are you sure that you aren't miscalculating the actual rate for the discount rate? My company does well over a million a year, and 2.2 is a very good rate, assuming it is the actual rate after fees and everything else. Credit card companies are really good at making you think you are paying 2-3 % when really they are boning you for 5% if you don't know how to read the statement. This is especially true for smaller merchants.

Wow, over 1 million USD in BTC sales in little over 2 months, very impressive! Can't wait to see the whole year's total. Good news for the whole community and economy! Hopefully other retailers see what they're missing out on. Reminding myself to buy some items off of Overstock.com to support them later on when my BTC wallet is a little fatter.

Byrne said that Overstock is keeping 10% of them as BTC in a video interview a week or two ago.

Wow great results. Interesting overstock is keeping some BTC. THey must think there is SOME hope the price will hold steady or rise. They certainly don't think bitcoin is going to zero though. It wouldn't make sense to hold 10% with any risk of it going to zero, it would destroy their margins which must be way lower than 10%.

Now if we could only convince the big "A" to start accepting BTC.... That would be major! Start emailing their CFO Tom Szkutak and asking for it. Email is szkutak @ amazon com. You could always kindly ask him to consider bitcoin as a payment option.
