The years 2016 and 2017 were really very great for new crypto projects. There were so many projects that went out highly successful in their ICOs. Investors are very bullish on them. And as a return, they have made great profits. ROIs from new coins are in the positive. Everything seemed very well. Until the time came when the market was abused. All kinds of projects are sprouting from everywhere, scams and copycats and below quality and all.

2018 was already the start of the fall of altcoins. Many of them died on that year. When 2019 comes, IEO has effectively replaced ICO.

While the project developers are great but every business needs seasoned marketing team to run the business and make it a profitable one! It has no relation with the altcoin season whatsoever! Here's how to look, if you are talking about the price, then it really puts a lot of pressure on the project, many people stop investing in it and due to this the project dies, this can be attributed to projects that were created for profit.
But there are also projects that have been created by enthusiasts who are more interested in introducing useful technologies and the price increase is not so important for them, they continue to work and due to this it is difficult to call a coin a scam, although the course has staggered several times.

Coins and projects that are still pushing through the altcoin bear market are the ones that are legit and confident that they have a good use case to pull things off. time has changed for cryptocurrency. Unlike in the year of 2017, time is very difficult for startups to establish and attract investors. Investors just want to make as much as money in a short term and exit. They do not want to hold tokens for long term because of uncertainty of cryptocurrency. Potential of the projects are tested in the bear market, and we've seen that most of the projects are almost dead because people choose to invest in a more stable coin like BTC which is currently dominating the market.

no my friend, that is not how this market works.
there is no such thing as the "altcoin bull run season". all we have is "altcoin pumping season" and during that time new projects get the biggest pumps not those that existed. in other words you are wrong in thinking these useless ICO tokens could ever get pumped just because the pumping season begins some day in the future.

you can easily check this by looking and comparing 2017 with 2013. by then (previous bitcoin bull run and altcoin massive pumps) there were coins with huge pumps. none of them were pumped again in 2017 pumps. instead NEW coins were pumped!

it's not only bearish market of altcoin is fucked the altcoin itself but as far as you can see the bitcoin bearish market is also killing the altcoin.
The fact that bad projects can't sustain even longer than a quarter. so many scam projects have proven this thing.
in the past months, we see how bitcoin bull or bear was killing altcoin market and then altcoin bearish market was also doing the same and this is the first bounce of altcoin to get the bullish trend. This is the first this year.

There were surely very good projects in 2017 and 2018. But because of the bear market, they are almost dead now. They have restarted to live this week. But i think altcoins season won't happen immediately. Prices are going to stabilize before the real altcoins season. But current price is still very good to buy good altcoins. The prices in USD will depend on the price of Bitcoin.

I think it is only depends on time. Project can be success in right time and what make me little sad is, people blame the dev. But maybe big or little, developer have key for the project success or not. Sometimes, people can look directly from their eyes, which developer that only want short money from investor or which one that really want to make their project really good by develop it.

I do not think the development of a project will rely too much on the market. A really good project will have a large community and then they will be willing to buy at a higher price when the coin is listed on the exchange.
For mediocre projects, it dies either because the financial manager is bad or because their direction is wrong and that leads to failure.

Not only under performing or bad projects but I guess the bear market has significantly affected all cryptocurrencies including

Bitcoin but I think in the lighter side, when the market recovers again, I think it will shed out weak projects and retain only those

projects that showed resiliency during the bear market thus making the crypto industry more mature and more robust than ever

in my opinion the project in 2018 and still survive today such as SedowPow, GowithMi and SESSIA. they come from legitimate projects so they still survive in this market. I hate saying Vanta Tokens (VNT). I think this is a legitimate project but unfortunately they have become trash and have no price at all.
