We never know there will be an investigation we'll know if they released the results of the investigation, it could be an act of revenge or a conspiracy or just kidnapping, but this is a call for gambling operators to beef up their security whenever they are going to visit other countries.
Well, if it is indeed an assassination then do you think that there won't be an action by the killer to cover up the result of investigation to escape from it?. Let's wait then for the result of investigation if what really is the intention behind this tragedy. It seems to me that it is not just a kidnapping since the person/people behind the abduction is asking for $1m worth of bitcoin.
It was $5M worth of Bitcoin actually and the wife just gave $1M to the kidnappers. I wonder what happen to the rest of the story since his wife just gave a million dollar worth of Bitcoin. That must be the reason why kidnappers never releases her husband.

More and more news about of killing people who owns a lot of crypto these days. Shouldn't whales and gambling owners feel the danger on their life trusting the wrong person? It seems that Bitcoin is now being used as a way of payment for kidnapping.

very concerned about this news,
hopefully, his wife patiently accepts this fact.

More and more crimes in this regard was very common in the gambling world. When people know about a person having a large sum of funds, automatically the person will be under surveillance. This surveillance will be by thieves as well as governments. From my view this crime case will go hidden soon.
greed and the desire to get rich quickly is the root of all evil,
if this case is hidden then the local government and police will certainly be involved,
I hope in the future, the owners of crypto gambling sites don't expose themselves to the public.

BIG WINNER!

Even the $1-million ransom paid by William Sean Creighton's wife to the kidnappers was to no avail.

After having being reported missing for almost a year, the founder of 5Dimes sportsbook was found dead in Costa Rica, the local police confirmed.

That was a great loose to the family and the gambling industry. Going through the story, I can deduce some reasons which could have possibly lead to his death by those kidnappers. Firstly, they paid the kidnappers unreasonable amount of money they actually demanded from them ( $5m to $1m) which was far bellow the kidnappers demands. Greediness on the part of the family maybe also contribute because, as the owner of a gambling platform you will be seen as a multi millionaire. Secondly, close friends to the victim are the ones that actually carried out the kidnapped and demand ransom. I have leant a lesson, never give kidnappers one third of what they demand, in my country were there is higher rate of kidnapping, you dare not pay one third of what they demand ( ransom ). The gambling industry have just lost another potential investor.

Its too obvious on whats the main motive of crime which is robbery and it do end up to be murdered. This is quite common
to see such scenario if theres someone being hostage up and the demands werent met not only that where suspects will most
likely kill up their victim rather than on releasing them as said by some it is much more wiser to leave up no trace than to release it all along.
They are just giving a way on how they would be get caught by the authorities.

They can't just rob someone when their money is not literally physical since the kidnappers are asking money in Bitcoin and not just a money transferred to the kidnappers bank account. Actually, Bitcoin has been used before in any criminal activities because of its anonymity and the advantage of it over the banks.

It never been mentioned that they do ask out Fiat. We've known that they would use up Bitcoin for it not to be traceable and they do know that
their hostage is a multi-millionaire and even they had been given by $1M they didnt tend to release it because they do want something more than that.
We know on whats the reputation of Bitcoin when it comes to crimes like this and sadly its being dragged down once again and do looks bad into other eyes
specially to those who werent aware on bitcoins existence ever.

It's strange enough that someone like him is easily kidnapped, wouldn't this be a conspiracy?. I think people who are involved in gambling business will more careful to expressing themselves outside or atleast he have bodyguard who always guard him, People would prefer to be anonymous because this concerns their personal safety specially in the gambling business.

It is difficult to remain anonymous specially when you have a business like he had a sportsbook site. Many people would have known him personally and he cannot afford to do gambling betting while being remain anonymous. The investigation can only tell what was the real reason behind this kidnap & murder and I hope those criminals should be caught and hanged.

Normally whenever I read such news my first instinct tells me it’s an insider person’s job, because it’s impossible execute it without their help. As far as I know many gambling owners never share their real photos because of privacy issues, it’s unfortunate that his real information was leaked out and that led to his death. @virasog these kind of murders are executed by professional killers, and it’s impossible to find them but I too hope his killers are arrested.

I don't know about the case much, but seeing on face-value, it's really sad. These types of cases are the reason why one should be anonymous especially when they have something hugely valuable in possession or have tight security measures. Also, a reason why many online casino owners are sceptical about revealing their identity when their sites become too popular, and if they don't reveal then the players shout "non-transparent" site even without thinking that it might endanger the owner's life!

What a sad news, even when they were given a part of what they claim they wanted they still killed their victim, this makes me think that there is a possibility that they were not after the money and they wanted to do this from the beginning, and while we know that bitcoin had nothing to do with this since the kidnappers could have asked for fiat instead, it is likely that the media will try to spin this as evidence that bitcoin allows criminals to get away with their crimes when that is not the case since kidnapping existed before bitcoin.

This is a sad news for everyone. In this world filled with bad people, the more you're becoming successful the more your life is at risk. But we don't know the real reason about the abduction and killing. If it's only about money and ransom or there's a hatred towards the victim. But I hope his family will get the justice he deserves.
