Hey all,

I sold an unused gift card for BTC on paxful the other day, and I'm a bit hesitant to move it in the rest of my bitcoin. Just in case the seller has nefarious plans, should I run them through a mixer first? Blender.io looks like a quick and easy way to break tractability from the original seller.

Or is this all silly and overly cautious in the event the blockchain transactions aren't even available to the seller to track in the first place?

thanks a bunch

If he sent you the bitcoin then he can follow the trail if transactions from address to address. That's one of the features of Blockchain  -  transparency of transactions.  I don't see much harm even though he traced your transactions however if you are to paranoid about it, you can use coin mixers to cover your tracks

How did you find the Blender.io?
I don't know how safe blender.io their announcement thread seems quite their last update is last August.

I suggest you try chipmixer instead it is easy to use, untraceable and fast. As long as your transaction received 1 confirmation you can get your token and you don't need to worry about the fee because you can pay/donate how much you want.

@logfiles - i guess this was more of a paxful question than a bitcoin question. i didn't know if sellers loaded their own or if they purchased it from paxful through their website. the differences there are where my questions about ease of tracing come in. anyway, i'm sure it's fine. the seller was from china, and i'm thinking since mining is cheaper for them, they are incentivized to flip their btc to something easier to sell and profit more.

i saw a list of the best mixers, it was from earlier this year. blender had an interesting functionality where it just shifts the orderbook's coins on the blockchain forward by the amount you're mixing. plus it had low fees. though i did view it briefly at work and the firewall threw up a possible phishing warning.. so there's that.

but their last update was August 29, 2019, so they are still active.

Don't worry, Paxful is a serious system and they are legit. You can transfer that bitcoin to your wallet. or if you can't trust them, you can create a new wallet and keep that bitcoin in one place, it's safer than ever.

You no need to worry about anything when you buy bitcoin because it becomes untraceable since the origin is from the paxful wallet which is the combination of everyone's wallet.

But becareful when you sell your bitcoins on p2p sites because source of that fiat might be from illegal activities.

Do not use any mixer on that list! Almost every single one of them is a proven scam. Check out this thread for more details: List of Bitcoin Mixer or tumbler SCAM/CLONE websites

There have been cases before of users setting up multiple fake/scam/clone mixer sites, and then writing "review articles" which just link to all their different scam sites. This looks like another one of those cases. I can not find a single report online of a user having successfully used blender.io. Don't take the risk.

If you want a safe and secure mixer, choose ChipMixer. It has the most secure method of mixing coins, and has an extensive trading history with many positive reviews: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1003345

I believe paxful is government regulated exchange? You should probably check their terms of service to see what it says concerning this. Or you could Google the "keywords" to see if something useful comes up. I personally won't worry about this since exchanges have access to sensitive informations of all their users

Even if the coins you get from paxful are tainted you can prove that it has come from their wallet and hence it is not a big deal but i am not sure whether they are regulated in any country. As mentioned above chipmixer is a trusted tumbler if you are too concerned about your privacy and they literally do not charge anything as fees, there are many fake tumblers as the one you mentioned, so make sure you use a legit one rather than copycats.
