There have now been two reported cases of this user (dj6230) PMing newbies struggling with wallet recovery... and forwarding them to websites designed to steal their BIP39 mnemonics... First instance was here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5170404.msg52134855#msg52134855Sadly, the post that the OP made in that thread that contained the PM sent to them from dj6230 was deleted by a moderator before I could archive it, but the OP confirms the behaviour and that the user sent it to them. The most recent incident is archived here: https://archive.fo/WKZe6#45%Again, a new user with wallet recovery issues was PM'd by dj6230 and directed to a website that asked for the seed mnemonic to be entered, after which, their coins were stolen. Sadly, it would appear that all the negative trust ratings against this user have proven to be inadequate, so I am creating this flag. Support the flag here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=754

It is a shame that he is able to earn money this way.
There needs to be a lot of education for newbies. This should not be a way to earn money on this forum. Unfortunately it seems that people (especially newbies) don't care that much about the trust ratings. I don't know whether they don't notice it or don't know what it really means.
That's sad, but unfortunately this is how it works.

There is an argument to made for warning flags showing up above a user's PMs, and not just on threads started by that user. Obviously this user has plenty of negative default trust, but apparently that still wasn't enough to protect the newbies he is PMing.
Under the old system, this user would have had "Warning: Trade with extreme caution!" displayed on all his PMs. Now (from a DT perspective) he just has this: # +2 / =0 / -8. From a newbie's perspective, these numbers mean nothing.
We already display a banned above PMs saying "!! WARNING: This user is a newbie. If you were expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an imposter !!!" Why can't we also display the warning flag above PMs?

The username reminds me of djhomeschool, whom I've seen a similar accusation against. That user is banned now. Sadly, the post that the OP made in that thread that contained the PM sent to them from dj6230 was deleted by a moderator before I could archive it I saved it, see http://loyce.club/archive/posts/5211/52118898.html << Do not trust the link on that page! There is an argument to made for warning flags showing up above a user's PMs, and not just on threads started by that user. That too doesn't help if a user just follows the link in the "New Personal Message"-email.

Can we get dj6230 banned as well for this reason? That too doesn't help if a user just follows the link in the "New Personal Message"-email. Ahh, I always forget about this since I have all email notifications turned off. Still, there's nothing stopping theymos from including the warning flag in the body of the email as well.

A very risky user already. Feedback shows that trade should not be done.

I would imagine, and the first thing I thought is that this dude doesn't need a flag--he needs to get banned if he's sending phishing links via PM. That would at the very least fall under the rule of no spam PMs being allowed. Good point, the receiver of the PM should report it.
Anytime a member receives a suspicious PM, whether it's a scam attempt or spam or whatever, they should report it. Not all unsolicited PMs, of course--I get a lot of those--but it's annoying to get them and obviously people can get scammed if they don't know any better. These idiots want to pull their crap within the relative secrecy of PMs, and it's not cool.

I hope this user wasn't able to deceive anyone into actually entering their seeds into that site. It would be pretty cumbersome to track it if he did, since we would have to know which public keys were part of the HD wallets. It looks like Timelord was able to connect dj6230 to another scammer account, funkydog three years ago. The user funkydog has been banned for spreading fake Electrum malware, so the pattern fits. If dj6230 isn't banned for sending malicious links in PM, he should be banned for ban evasion. It's been ten days since dj6230 has been active, but somehow I suspect he's just moved on to another alt.

I've always beleived in flagging as I go rather than relying on waiting for DT's to splash the Red Paint ™ for me. I supported the flag as well. It is a shame that he is able to earn money this way.
I don't think that earn would be the right term. Hijacked/swiped/robbed. Lol You wouldn't know the right time to be trusting but it's just better to be safe than sorry. Don't trust anybody so easily without checking the background or something. I was a victim with scamming because I didn't get a background check and believed that there are good persons still to transact with, it's just not the reality we live in.
