There are three users that seem merit abusers to me. Two of them are sending almost all of their merits to the third account (All the three accounts might belong to one person)
I wanted to create a topic on "reputation". But I gave up doing that because I am not 100% sure of that. But I think I am 99% right.
If I accuse someone on "reputation" board and the accusation is wrong, is it possible to get negative trust?
What should I do as I am not 100% sure? Especially when I want to make an accusation against a trusted member of the forum.

Edit: Those three accounts that I am talking about are not trusted accounts ( 2 of them have 2 negative trusts and one of them is neutral). I guess two other accounts (each of them has one positive trust) are involved too. But even if I make a topic, I will accuse only those three accounts. Because the probability of involving forth and fifth accounts is low.

I can advice you to send personal message to the admin on this forum.
If you are not absolute sure about something, it's better be careful and don't start topic on reputation.
Yes, negative trust is always possible.

With due respect, I disagree :-D

I see no point to get a negative trust for this.

If you are not convinced 100% then create a thread and discuss about it openly with the forum users. From a group discussion, may be you find the missing parts of the puzzle.

No one (as far as I know) is going to neg you for creating a conversation or even shitposting (not accusing you by the way).

Merit abuse aren't much of a hot topic since theymos himself have discourage DT members from tagging users for their posting (spamming) habbit or meriting habbit. Unless you have clear evidence of accounts been linked (without any doubt) to each other like, bitcoin/ethereum address or social media accounts linkage then I won't advice you go creating an accusation thread.

In some instances where the merit abuse isn't in large number irrespective of the account been linked together still not much can be done as we're discourage from tagging Merit abusers only theymos has a final say on issues like this (which he only intervene in serious cases).

As for recieving negative feedback for wrong accusation, i think the only insist you can recieve such trusted feedback is when you're a continuous offender although not recieving an untrustworthy feedback for such scenario can't be gauranted but you shouldn't be worried since it doesn't affect your account.

I suggest finding a clear linking of the accounts first in question for example as what @CryptopreneurBrainboss just said. If you're not that sure I guess you can still create a topic explaining the situation, this is an open forum probably by creating that topic we will get some leads.

Especially when I want to make an accusation against a trusted member of the forum.
I am assuming that will be a big issue to open up, furthermore if proven, that might be a big catch, but better be careful as well.

I suppose that Reputation section is more suitable for this topic.
As an option, you can tell about your suspicion in the thread "Known Alts of any-one", without naming, and ask to contact you through PM those members which are specializing in finding alt accounts.
It's possible that one of investigators will be interested in this case and will independently want to test your assumption.

There is no harm if you can't prove them were linked but you have to create a thread about those linked account on reputation section.

If you are not capable of finding the address linkage between those users you can send message about forum members who are actively doing this for that you can visit reputation section.

Even if anyone can't able to prove then simply lock that thread.

I do not consider it as a problem unless those abuses from Merit source.
If a person earns sMerits by creating high-quality topics, he or she will have no time to create an army of alt accounts.
If you do not have clear evidence you can open a discussion without offense.
You can also give a negative trust based on your investigation.

OP, the above is the truth.  I'm not sure if any suspected merit abusers are getting tagged anymore and I haven't even seen a lot of accusations flying around in quite some time.  So even if you were to create a thread in Reputation or even a scam accusation, there's probably not a lot that would come from it.

I don't think you'd risk getting a negative trust from a DT member for doing so, but those you accuse of merit abuse might neg you.  Ultimately it's up to you if you want to go forward with this, but my advice would be to just leave it alone--and not because I'm trying to protect people who abuse the merit system, because I think that's a slimy thing to do.  It would probably just be a waste of your time.

I do not consider it as a problem unless those abuses from Merit source.
It's a problem either way, but it's way worse if a merit source is doing the abusing.  Fortunately there hasn't been a lot of that that we know of.

First I want to say that, no one tagging for merit abuse since admin isn't encourage to tag someone for trading merit (if there is not merit sell evidence). So open accusation about merit trader is useless nowadays.

Second thing is, no one will tag you for open false accusation, but at least you should provide proof as much as possible. Continuously post false accusations will not consider as a wise decision. After you make a post other members will justify your accusation if it's true or false. So you don't need much worry about it.

Even there is trusted user like DT, but if you have enough evidence like merit sell then go ahead. Otherwise no one will take action against them.

I think that's the only risk you run right now, a waste of your time, you could make the thread accusing the accounts you claim are connected and there is a very high chance that nothing will be done to them, as merits is a subjective matter.
You may only end up raising "dust" and this may be unnecessary, you definitely wouldn't be red tagged for opening up on your claims.

Most times for merit abuse to be effective for the abusers, they must be of a high rank, to have enough Smerit to distribute and rank up the account they want to, for this to be done, a crazy amount of merit has to be given, if this is not the case which it hardly is, it's better to let sleeping dogs lie.
