Hello Everyone,

So I've always had this idea of creating a simple and easy to use website where you can instantly find links to different websites around cryptocurrencies, more for beginners. I know there are already quite a few crypto directory websites out there but I believe there is always room for other helpful (and pro-crypto) websites. Currently I'm still working on it and would love to have some feedback from the community as to what would be (possibly) a good addition for user experience. I'd also like to keep it as simple as possible so new beginners don't get overwhelmed but at the same time easily get access to what they need.

Link to TheCryptoDirectory.com: https://thecryptodirectory.com

Any tips?

PS, I know it's not mobile friendly yet, and the short lists will get "see more" buttons underneath it to go to a page specific for that subject.

Cheers!

Where is the Bitcoin Whitepaper? I think this is very important and you should add it ASAP.

You should also add more crypto gambling related websites, you can go on this board and check what and where crypto gamblers are playing at: (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=56.0)

Also I don't see any crypto mixer?  You can find everything here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2827109.0).

Creating a short description for each link might be a useful feature, especially for newbies who never visited the website that you list there. If you have 100 links and there's no description about it, they'll have a hard time deciding which one they need to visit. You can add the description on the hover details so there's no extra space required (but a bit tricky if the user use a mobile phone).

Another idea is to make your website looks like this[1]. It might not exactly look like your usual crypto curation website, but it will become a new face in this niche. If you don't have time to do the comparison, use data from another source but present it in your own way. I believe it will attract a lot of users especially if your website can look more or less like this[2].

I was thinking about this too. It would be practical if users could instantly see some type of small description, without overwhelming the simple look and feel of the website. I'll check if I can make this mobile-friendly.

Thanks joniboini!

The website looks nice and is quite approachable, I don't really see any major issues.

Maybe you should add a couple of categories though: crypto news and crypto hedge funds.

You might also want to add derivatives platforms, separate from trading platforms.

You could probably add a click section to replace the hover function on the mobile page. The details of the website would appear when the user click it. It's a bit tricky but that's required as iirc the hover function is not supported on most mobile devices.

Additional details you could read:

I'll make individual clickable pop-ups and user can close the pop-up by clicking the corner "X". I think that will be a good and simple solution for user experience. (pop-ups will be mobile friendly as well of course)

You can add a category for Hosting & Domain registration services accepting crypto as payment. Namecheap.com and so on.

Also you can add VPN providers accepting crypto as payment. Tunnelbear etc.

Add Revolut.com and Spectrocoin to crypto debit cards.  Smiley

True, crypto mixers will be a good addition.

Why not add a feature wherein users can submit links to you for addition? And then you can review it and add them if needed?

What about adding links to crypto terms? (https://cryptominded.com/glossary-cryptocurrency-terms-need-know/). Like what HODL means? or FOMO or FUD? TA?

As for terms (and information...). First I want to complete a decent linking-directory and later on add an "Articles" section where we "educate" newbies on terms like the ones you mentioned and other crypto related topics.
But as I said, in article-form, not just links. That's better, no?

Cheers!

Hi! I think it is nice idea, but the content seems to be very poor. I'm not big professional, but the links on your site are not structured (mining platforms, then crypto loans, casinos, crypto documents... - all are near each other), and seem to be that you just put on the site some links you could google or you are familiar with.

You also call the site as crypto directory, but there is no link to the wallet MEW for example which is very popular for ETH. If your content is mainly about bitcoin, so it is better to change the site name to Bitcoin directory.

And as for structured design - try not to put all the information on the page, but make some structured content: Main groups, subgroups, links, etc. For example you can put all the wallets to one group, and there make subgroups - hardware, desktop, mobile, etc.

The idea is very good. Thank you!

The idea is to have a curated directory, so I try to have only quality links, not all links  Tongue

You also call the site as crypto directory, but there is no link to the wallet MEW for example which is very popular for ETH. If your content is mainly about bitcoin, so it is better to change the site name to Bitcoin directory.
That's a good point, it is a crypto directory indeed, but as I mentioned before, a lot of links have to be added. This is not the end result, also the main page shows 5 (top) links per category, underneath it will come a "show more" button that takes you to that specific subject's page where you find a more complete list.

And as for structured design - try not to put all the information on the page, but make some structured content: Main groups, subgroups, links, etc. For example you can put all the wallets to one group, and there make subgroups - hardware, desktop, mobile, etc.
I understand your idea, which is good, but I had this idea that newbies could use it as an easy go to page with as less clicks needed on the homepage as possible.

The idea is very good. Thank you!

Cheers!

On the exchanges, you should have a description of there services like margin trading, future, spot trading, option and those who offer crypto to fiat and vice-versa.

Any tips?

When the sites with the best ref links get top spots it can never be a good index.
Try to make the index objective and put the advertisement in some fixed. areas

You mean the list @ Hardware Wallets?
Ledger and Trezor are the most bought and popular hardware wallets on the market... Or am I misreading your message?

As for the ad, I only have the right-side banner area which is fixed. Or do you see any other ads from your side?

It's your call mate. I will just link you to ((https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3250658) specially about terms and lingo. May I also suggest that you go around the forum, specially this boards Meta and Beginners & Help. Maybe you can pick some idea to what to put in your project.
