Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Why would you make such an assumption?
Even if he'd own this forum, I still wouldn't bother as it is well managed, unlike his other endeavor..

You think every question has to do with money - what about integrity?

I did trade in bitcoin for a while but the second I broke even after I lost on the china crash I got out and just have some in cold storage.

Now I am still into bitcoin, but for it's future uses and potential, not to make a quick buck out of 'noobs'.

Thanks for answering, I asked because there is a lot of discussion about it today on live chats and obviously this was the best place to ask.

Maybe this will help you getting your answer. The forum was started in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto, the original creator of Bitcoin. It is now managed by Malmi Martti (Sirius), Stefan Thomas (justmoon), and Michael Marquardt (theymos).  Smiley

I wonder if the database version he had got into the wrong hands, if that would cause us all any problems? It was way before my time, but potentially the older members could still have been there. Although I have no idea about the format of the database.

If I remember correctly, Sirius (the owner of the domain and an early admin of the forum) emailed some big names in Bitcoin asking if they would be willing to host the forum behind some DDoS protection service. When Mark Karpeles volunteered, his offer was the obvious choice. Theymos agreed. MtGox was the biggest target in Bitcoinland, and so they already used a DDoS protection service. That and they were highly trusted.

It really was a different world back then. It truly was amateur hour, so we had to take what we could get. Compared to what we had then, we are totally spoiled with the services of today.

Also, supposedly we weren't hosted on the same server, but we were at least on the same network as MtGox. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that we were really running in a VM on the same physical server as MtGox... (this is Mark Karpeles we're talking about, after all)

We moved away from MtGox just over one year ago:
