It is crystal clear to the non-idiotic that eventually the world will be run by idiocracy, people voting democrats, senators with qualifications of a neandertjal. People arguing whether transgenders should have a 3rd toilet while the collective IQ goes into negative territory.

Each smart person should start thinking about this unesacapble black hole and see how you will remain standing.

Are you saying that the world will go back in ages like the John Locke described as brutish, nasty and short?
I think we might not get back to that. However, whatever is happening now is just fulfilling the scripture of the signs  Grin

Shit was fine under Obama's term, then Trump come into office and brought the idiots with him. Things will get better when a Democrat's back in office.

Just because the problems were hidden and ignored under Obama's term doesn't make anything better. Those "idiots" you are referring to also voted for Obama. They saw how horrible of a job he and his party did and revoked their support and supported some one with a stiff counter strategy to Obama's failed policies. This isn't some right wing up rising out of nowhere, they were always there.

They gave the left a chance and they failed miserably, now they are standing up and saying fuck you this is our country and taking it back from the Marxist collectivist loons. As far as Democrats taking control again, you'd be lucky to see that happen again in your lifetime, because they have immolated every ounce of credibility that had, and the fire is just getting warmed up.

Can you elaborate a bit on the "shit was fine"?

What exactly was fine at the time? Perhaps your idea that things were fine is a direct symptom of MSM manipulation. I mean yeah if the press is jerking off Obama and his cabinet every day then obviously the standard citizen sees the happy news they want.

Are you one of those people that thinks the "ok" hand gesture is a sign of white supremacy?

Because something appears to be ok on the outside doesn't mean it's being handled internally. Obama's terms were more of a "yeah we painted the outside of the car, looks great. Meanwhile things are rusting off inside, frame is now cracked, fluids not changed, hoses and vacuum lines are rotting, but hey look how shiny the exterior is!"

Who wants "fine" anyway. We are supposed to progress as a species. Go further. explore space. Find meaning in our existence. Not worry about people with hurt feelings pissing and shitting in the other sexes bathroom. That is not a proper example of human progress. If actual progress requires turbulence then so be it.

The world is certainly not run by idiots. It is run by old established dynasties. The idiots are the ones who think that the Governments are in control, you only have to look at the Brexit manipulations to see that this isn't true. A few centuries ago, the Knights Templar tried to destroy Islam, and their descendants still try to continue the family "business". However, these days they have worked out that if you arm and support all the various Muslim factions, they will attempt to destroy each other, and do the work for them. This is just one way that they continue their ambitions to create a super elite, and of course the taxpayers fund their project and make them vast profits as well.

This is my opinion why democracy is going down and down:

Because anyone can vote. Let me set an example. There are 101 people ready to take a flight from NY to Germany. There are no pilots. Suddenly two guys comes and people need to vote which one of these two will be the pilot the whole flight. The 101 people knows very little about them. The first one says that he has a lot of experience, made more than 3000 flights and survived a lot of storms and promises to fly ant 9000 altitude. The second one says that if the passengers vote for him, they will get to fly in business class and gets double the food to eat the whole flight (by the way, he keeps silent that all the experience he has is from MS Flight Simulator and has no real experience).
Who do you think the passengers voted for? Of course the second one won 81/20 (it is my presumption), he took the flight and the plane crashed.

Now let's get deeper. I know very little about USA democratic system, but I will tell you about the one in Lithuania.
We have a right to vote from 18 till death. Lots of people doesn't care who is in our government because there are very few new faces, only the old dudes who are in authority for more than 10-15 years.  Sad
So, the situation is similar. People vote for the one who offers the most. They doesn't care if he knows how to keep promises, only that he made them. It makes no difference if you vote for liberals or conservative ones, they will make a coalition and nothing changes. They keep the power.

For things to change we need a new blood to enter the stage. And most importantly, the ones who vote need to know why they vote for someone. For example, if you ask someone why they voted for this guy and not the other and if he/she answers that this one has better eyes that the other his/her vote should be canceled. There should be some tests that voters need to pass. For example: "name three things your government do/done" , "what does the president do", "who is in charge now", "CAPITAL OF YOUR COUNTRY" and many more. It may be hard to believe, but I guess that 20% of voters would be off. Because nowadays anyone can vote because it is the right they have. I think that only the people who understand politics should be able to vote. Now even the old people who are literally in death bed (yes, the officials visits them in hospitals come and just takes their signatures) voting when they have little self consciousness of their surroundings  Huh.

To summer things up: 1. We need voters to know why they are voting for the specific person, they must have at least simple test;
                                 2. The politicians must be qualified to do their job (university degree, more than three languages etc.);
                                 3. No more than 2 times in the government. You must have done your job when you were elected.

If we were to follow these rules, everything should be fine.

This is one of the inherent flaws in any democracy. This is something that politicians in the US (as well as other countries) are attempting to actively abuse by offering lots of entitlements like government subsidized healthcare and education along with letting immigrants flow into the country unchecked hoping to essentially buy votes with taxpayer dollars. This is increasingly a problem in the US, but fortunately here we do not have a pure democracy, but rather a constitutional republic that does offer some significant checks on this kind of abuse. Unfortunately this is not a fool proof system, but it is a significantly better model than just straight democracy, otherwise known as mob rule. People often get the idea in their heads that because politicians are so corrupt, if the people could only have direct representation, everything would be better. This is flawed logic for the reasons I just went over above. All that is really happening is people are given the illusion of choice and control while the worst flaws of human nature are being exploited to enslave the whole of the nation. After all, democracy is just two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner.

In a pure democracy there are no individual rights because the minority will always be subjected to the dictates of the majority, this is where the protections of a constitutional republic are very valuable. Additionally democracy is the first step towards moving a nation toward Marxism and Communism, and as some one from a formerly Soviet block nation, I am sure you appreciate the danger of allowing these ideologies to be exploited, and understand the horror of Communism much better than most Westerners do given your nation has plenty of people around still living to tell the story of what living under such a system was like from their own personal experience.

If in fact democracy is bad, as  anyone can vote, how come huge majority of most developed countries are democracies? I don't say that democracy is perfect, because it is not, but for now it is the best system we have.

Thing with democracy though is, it needs time for people that understand their power and importance when voting, that is why most developed countries usually have high voter turnout.

As you can see, top 10 countries by voter turnout are all highly developed countries. I must add that in Belgium it is mandatory to vote, and for not showing up , there are fines and other measures.

Government by idiots is the natural outcome of a democracy that is embedded in a modern capitalist society.

This I think is due to the move to a globalised economy. The rich in any society have always been the most powerful. However, in the past, governments have been able to restrain the excesses of inequality in order to support the poor and reduce the possibility of civil unrest. What happens nowadays is that governments have lost a lot of their power to big multinational corporations. Governments fight amongst themselves to offer the most lucrative terms and tax systems in order to pull in these multinationals. In this way the system works to make the rich richer, the obvious consequence of which is that it also makes the poor poorer, and so increases inequality.

So now we have a system where inequality is growing continuously. The poor feel increasingly disenfrachised. This is exacerbated by the pervasive nature of modern media, TV on demand, 24 hour news, Facebook etc. The population is bombarded by images of successful rich people, whilst they themselves are often struggling, working multiple low-paid insecure jobs in order to scrape together enough money to rent (forget buy) a small house.

The result is that a large section of the population feels cheated, and that they are exploited by a system that is set up to benefit only the rich. It looks and feels corrupt because it is.

So who do these poor people vote for? Logically they should vote for the Bernie Sanders / Jeremy Corbyn type figure who genuinely has their best interests at heart and will work tirelessly to reduce inequality.

In practice, the media are run by rich people. It is very easy for them to demonise their opponents (Sanders, Corbyn, or anyone who would constrain the rich).

And so finally we reach a point where many people feel cheated, and they can't vote for the establishment who have cheated them, and they refuse to vote for the left-wing politicians who they are told by the papers and TV channels are little better than demons in human form.

This large section of the population then have no-one to vote for, no-one who they think will represent their interests. We have a political void, into which steps that common figure nowadays... the populist strongman.

There are plenty of these strongmen about: Trump, Boris Johnson, etc, rich people who are already part of the corrupt elite, but who set themselves up as anti-establishment heroes-of-the-people and ride into power by sucking up the votes of the disenfranchised masses. Once in power, they govern largely by a series of aggressive and meaningless soundbites. Their actual policies don't matter, they only need to be seen to matter, that's all that is required for them to stay in power.

They can give a huge tax break to the 1% and on the same day give a furious speech about how the rich are corrupt and need to be stopped. It's the speech that gets reported on the news, not the tax cut.

This I think is why democracy doesn't work in late capitalist societies. It is very simple to fool people into voting against their own best interests.

Lol. So, to believe in something with beard which lives in the clouds is normal (Christians) but to believe in 56 genders - not. So sweet.

In fact, nothing changes. World not become worse just because people don't be,ieve in God and believe in genders. In fact, people just change the icon to pray, nothing more.

In fact, real problems like goverment and state, dangerous AI, problem with antibiotics (many viruses and bacteria have high resistance to antibiotics and they will become just stronger and less vunerable) don't fucking care anyone.

Government by idiots is the natural outcome of a democracy that is embedded in a modern capitalist society.

Every goverment will finally runs by idiots or bad people. Just with democracy this process goes much faster.

They can give a huge tax break to the 1%

Tax break is fine. Decentralization and deregulation is fine too. For ordinary people.

I don't know if you have noticed, but your argument largely consists of the idea that popular votes are good because they are popular. This is circular logic. Just because something is popular doesn't make it good. That said, there is a place for democracy in government IMO, but it needs to have strict checks placed upon it in the form of a constitutional republic in order to prevent it from becoming the malignant tyranny of the majority.

@Lapatai said that too many people have voting rights, while i think it is the opposite, people should go and vote more, and i just gave the list of the countries with highest voting turnout, to show that that is not the problem, on the contrary. It is easier for corrupted government to stay  in power if  fewer people go out and vote, and that is why i voted to underline importance of voting.

It is another issues that people don't make educated choice most of the times, and usually we get the government that we deserve, but  i don't think that power concentrated  in hands of fewer people will bring us any good.

I don't disagree, I just think you are oversimplifying the situation. It is kind of like some one saying drinking a lot of water is healthy, so you decide to drown some one in a lake. Water is good, but there are other factors at play that need to be addressed, because the water can just as easily drown you.
